How do I measure wheel offset

Finding the wheel offset of a custom built wheel

When buying replacement wheels, it is especially important to know the wheel size and wheel offset so that the replacement will properly match your other wheels. It can be a little complicated to figure out, but luckily the team at Element Wheels are here to help make this easy.

All we need are 2 things and we'll do the rest

  • Wheel Size
  • Wheel Backspacing

Finding the Wheel Size

Wheel Size can usually be found on the back of the wheel. Here are examples of what that might look like

Measuring the Wheel Backspacing

How to measure wheel with no tire

  1. You will need to lay the wheel face down. If you have a tire on the wheel you will have to read the next section below
  2. You will need to lay a straight edge across the back of the wheel
  3. you will need to use a tape measure to measure the distance from the straight edge to the backpad of the wheel as pictured
    • It is extremely important that the straight edge is laying on the wheel. If you have a tire on the rim it may prevent the straight edge from resting on the wheel, in which case scroll down to read more.
    • It is extremely important that the tape measure is straight and perpendicular to the straight edge
    • It is extremely important to give us the most accurate measurement possible since we are trying to determine the offset in millimeters. If you are off on your measurement, we will be off on what is ultimately being sent to you.

This measurement will also be helpful in determining the offset
