Alfa Romeo 4C Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Alfa Romeo 4C is Alfa's mid-engine, carbon-fiber-tub sports car. It was sold in the US as the 4C Spider from 2015 through 2020, with a 1.75L turbocharged four cylinder mounted behind the seats and a six speed dual clutch automatic. The whole car weighs under 2,500 pounds because the central structure is a single piece of carbon fiber, and the wheel package was engineered around that lightweight purist character from the factory. Element Wheels measures one 4C fitment family. Every 4C runs 5x98 with a 58.1mm hub bore and 12x1.25 lug bolts, which is the historic Alfa Romeo and Fiat small-platform pattern (distinct from the 5x110 used on the larger Giulia and Stelvio). The 4C ships staggered from the factory with a narrower front wheel and a wider rear, and the aftermarket window respects that staggered character while leaving the option open to run square for owners who want it. The front brake is larger than the rear, which is normal on a mid-engine sports car of this caliber and not a fitment problem on most aftermarket designs. Use the 4C wheel cards below for fitment specs and to see wheels measured for the platform.
Find Your Alfa Romeo 4C
Pick your 4C card to see wheels and rims measured for the platform. Bolt pattern (5x98), hub bore (58.1mm), and lug spec (12x1.25 bolts) are constant across every 4C. The factory setup is staggered with a narrower front wheel and a wider rear, and the aftermarket window supports both staggered and square fitments depending on owner preference.
The Alfa Romeo 4C Bolt Pattern and Hub Bore
Every Alfa Romeo 4C from 2015 through 2020 runs 5x98 with a 58.1mm hub bore. 5x98 is the historic Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia pattern used on smaller Italian platforms. It is distinct from the 5x110 pattern used on the modern Giulia and Stelvio on the Giorgio platform. A wheel made for a Giulia will not bolt onto a 4C, and a wheel made for a Fiat 500 Abarth or older Alfa Romeo 147/156/GT will share the bolt pattern but is unlikely to match the 4C's offset window or fit the supercar's wheel diameter. 5x98 is also not the same as the common 5x100 pattern used on certain Volkswagen and Audi compacts, even though the numbers look close. Two millimeters of bolt-circle difference is a hard incompatibility, not a tolerance.
The 4C uses lug bolts (12x1.25) threaded directly into the hub, not studs and nuts. This is the European convention and Alfa Romeo follows it across the lineup. There is no fixed stud to pre align the wheel before tightening, so the centerbore does the centering job at speed. The 58.1mm hub bore is Alfa Romeo specific on this platform. Wheels with a larger centerbore than 58.1mm need hub centric rings to bring the bore down to the 4C hub diameter. Compare across the rest of the Alfa Romeo lineup at our Alfa Romeo wheels and rims hub.
Why the 4C Ships Staggered, and How the Brake Package Sets the Window
The 4C is a mid-engine, rear drive sports car. The engine and the transaxle sit behind the cockpit, which puts most of the weight over the rear axle. Alfa Romeo built the factory wheel package staggered: a narrower front wheel and tire and a wider rear, to put more contact patch where the power and the weight actually are. From the factory the 4C ran a 17x7 front and an 18x8 rear in the US market on the Spider trim, with the larger optional package stepping the rear to 19 inch. The aftermarket window we measure for the 4C accepts both staggered and square fitments depending on owner preference. Owners who want the most factory-faithful look stay staggered. Owners who want the option to rotate tires front to rear or to keep tire purchasing simpler can run square within the aftermarket diameter range we have validated.
The front brake is larger than the rear on the 4C. That is normal on a mid-engine sports car of this caliber. The front axle handles the majority of the braking load and Alfa Romeo scaled the front rotor and caliper accordingly. The front brake size is not a clearance constraint on most aftermarket designs in the 18 to 19 inch diameter window. Where the 4C does demand attention is the carbon fiber monocoque. The tub is the structure. Anything that touches the tub face during wheel installation is a permanent mark. Wheel installation needs to be done with the lift points and the jack pads Alfa Romeo specifies. The Element Wheels team verifies that the wheels we ship for the 4C work with the factory mounting hardware and do not require modifications to the chassis to fit.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Alfa Romeo 4C
Publishable factory and wheel specs for the 4C Spider:
- Alfa Romeo 4C Spider (2015-2020): 5x98 bolt pattern, 58.1mm hub bore, 12x1.25 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 18-19 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5-8 inch front, 8.5-9 inch rear if staggered. Optional staggered (factory staggered, aftermarket can run either). Front brake larger than rear, standard on this caliber of mid-engine sports car.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific 4C (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the 4C wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.

How We Confirm Fitment on Alfa Romeo 4C Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the 4C directly. For the 4C that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on both axles, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension and exhaust routing, brake caliper height (the front rotor and caliper are larger than the rear), hub bore confirmation at 58.1mm, lug bolt seat depth for 12x1.25 bolts, and the staggered front to rear width relationship that defines the factory look. We also confirm that the wheel works with the carbon fiber monocoque's mounting points so installation does not require modifications to the tub. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Alfa Romeo 4C Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on an Alfa Romeo 4C?
Every Alfa Romeo 4C from 2015 through 2020 runs 5x98 with a 58.1mm hub bore and 12x1.25 lug bolts. 5x98 is the historic Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia pattern used on smaller Italian platforms. It is distinct from the 5x110 used on the modern Giulia and Stelvio, and it is also distinct from the common 5x100 found on some Volkswagen and Audi compacts. Two millimeters of bolt-circle difference is a hard incompatibility.
What is the hub bore on a 4C?
58.1mm. Because the 4C uses lug bolts threaded directly into the hub (not studs and nuts), the centerbore handles the centering job at speed and the bolts handle the clamping. A wheel with a larger centerbore than 58.1mm needs hub centric rings to bring the bore down to the 4C hub diameter.
What is the lug spec on a 4C?
12x1.25 lug bolts across every 4C. Alfa Romeo threads lug bolts directly into the hub instead of running fixed studs with separate nuts. The bolt holds the wheel against the hub face with no stud to pre align the wheel during mounting. Hub centric fit matters more on lug bolt cars because there is no stud to pre align the wheel, so wheels with the correct 58.1mm centerbore are preferred over wheels that need rings.
Is the 4C staggered from the factory?
Yes. The 4C is a mid-engine rear drive sports car, with the engine and transaxle sitting behind the cockpit. Most of the weight is over the rear axle, so Alfa Romeo specified a narrower front wheel and tire and a wider rear from the factory to put contact patch where the power and weight actually are. The aftermarket window we measure accepts both staggered and square setups depending on owner preference.
Can I run square (same width front and rear) on a 4C?
Yes, within the aftermarket diameter window we have validated. The 4C ships staggered from the factory but the aftermarket window accepts square fitments at the owner's preference. Square setups make tire purchasing simpler and let you rotate tires front to rear over the life of the set. Staggered setups keep the factory-faithful look and put more rear contact patch behind the mid-engine drivetrain. Either is acceptable on this platform.
Will Giulia wheels fit a 4C?
No. The Giulia (and the Stelvio) run 5x110 on the Giorgio platform. The 4C runs 5x98 on its own carbon-fiber-tub platform. Different bolt patterns. Wheels do not cross between the 4C and the modern Alfa Romeo lineup. The 4C uses the historic small-platform Alfa, Fiat, and Lancia pattern.
What is the largest diameter wheel that fits the 4C?
Our measured aftermarket window on the 4C runs 18 to 19 inch diameter. The factory base setup is 17 front and 18 rear, and the optional larger package steps the rear to 19. We do not stock wheels larger than 19 inch for the 4C because the platform was engineered around lightweight wheels at the factory diameter range and stepping past 19 inch starts to compromise the suspension geometry and adds unsprung weight that fights the carbon fiber tub's whole purpose.
Do I need hub centric rings on an Alfa Romeo 4C?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 58.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
