The BMW 7 Series is the full-size luxury flagship sedan, sold across five modern chassis: E32 (1989-1994), E38 (1995-2001), E65 / E66 (2002-2008), F01 / F02 (2009-2015), G11 / G12 (2016-2022), and the current G70 (2023 and up). The lineup carries two bolt patterns. The E32 through F01 / F02 generations all used 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore, in line with BMW's legacy 5x120 family. The G11 / G12 moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore in 2016, matching BMW's chassis transition that took the 5 Series and 6 Series GT off 5x120 in the same era. The G70 inherits 5x112 / 66.56mm. Wheels do not cross between the 5x120 era and the 5x112 era. The G11 / G12 also splits by drivetrain (RWD or X-Drive) and by brake package (Standard Brake or M-Sport Brake), with each combination carrying its own measured offset window. The BMW 7 Series Bolt Pattern And Its Transition

The 7 Series uses two bolt patterns across the modern lineup, separated by a single transition at the F01 / F02 to G11 / G12 cutoff in 2016. The E32 (1989-1994), E38 (1995-2001), E65 / E66 (2002-2008), and F01 / F02 (2009-2015) all use 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore. That is the legacy BMW 5x120 / 72.56mm pattern shared with the E60 / F10 5 Series, the E63 / E64 / F12 / F13 6 Series, and the rest of the BMW 5x120 family from that era. A 5x120 wheel built for any of those cars will bolt to a 5x120 7 Series in pattern and hub centering. Offset and brake clearance still need to match the specific chassis.

The G11 / G12 (2016-2022) and the current G70 (2023 and up) moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. This matches BMW's broader chassis transition that took the 5 Series off 5x120 at the G30 cutoff in 2017 and the 6 Series GT to the G32 in 2018. A 5x120 wheel built for an F01 / F02 7 Series will not bolt onto a G11 / G12, and a 5x112 wheel built for a G11 / G12 will not bolt onto an F01 / F02. The lug bolt thread also shifted from M14x1.5 (E32, E38, E65 / E66) to M14x1.25 (F01 / F02, G11 / G12, G70), so reusing lug bolts across the 1989-2008 cars and the 2009-and-up cars is not a clean swap. Why 7 Series Drivetrain And Brake Package Determine Wheel Fit

The F01 / F02 (2009-2015) and G11 / G12 (2016-2022) carry the most fitment combinations of any 7 Series chassis. The F01 / F02 splits into RWD and X-Drive, with the X-Drive carrying a tighter front offset window because the front axle drives. The G11 / G12 splits four ways: RWD with Standard Brake, X-Drive with Standard Brake, RWD with M-Sport Brake, and X-Drive with M-Sport Brake. The M-Sport Brake package on the G11 / G12 uses a larger front rotor and caliper than the Standard Brake, so the front inner-barrel clearance window tightens on the M-Sport cars. We measure all four G11 / G12 combinations as their own catalog rows.

The 760i (V12 from F01 forward, V8 + hybrid on G70) and the Alpina B7 derivatives share the chassis spec of their non-V12 siblings within each generation. The bolt pattern, hub bore, and offset window match the chassis, not the engine. Where the 760i and B7 cars carry their own consideration is wheel weight and lug bolt torque tolerance under V12 power. OEM-spec lug bolts and a fresh torque check after the first 50 miles matter more on the high-output trims than on a 740i or 750i of the same generation.
