BMW X4 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The BMW X4 is the coupe-styled variant of the X3 and shares the X3 chassis underneath. The most important fact for an X4 wheel buyer is that BMW moved the bolt pattern from 5x120 to 5x112 at the 2019 G02 redesign, the same shift the X3 sees in the same year. The F26 X4 (2015-2018) runs 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore. The G02 X4 (2019 and up) runs 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. Wheels do not bolt across that transition. The G02 also splits further by brake package: the base X4 ships with a base brake, the M-Sport package adds a larger brake, and the X4 M40i performance trim ships with the larger brake by default. The BMW X4 Bolt Pattern

The F26 X4 (2015-2018) ran 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore. BMW redesigned the X4 onto the G02 platform for the 2019 model year and moved the bolt pattern to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. The transition happens at the 2019 model year exclusively. The G02 has stayed on 5x112 / 66.56mm through the current production year and through the mid-cycle refresh.

A 2018 X4 wheel will not bolt onto a 2019 X4, and vice versa. The studs are at different positions on the hub and the hub bore is a different diameter. Lug count is the same (five studs both sides) so the difference is not visible at a glance. The X4 shares the X3 chassis, and the same 5x120-to-5x112 transition happens on the X3 at the same model year, so a wheel that fits a 2018 X3 will fit a 2018 X4 within the offset window, and a 2019-and-newer G02 X4 wheel crosses to a 2019-and-newer G01 X3.

Why the X4 Generation, Brake Package, and Trim Matter

On top of the bolt pattern shift, the X4 splits further by brake package. The 2019-and-newer G02 ships with two different brake setups depending on trim and option package: a base brake on the entry-level xDrive30i, and a larger brake on cars optioned with the M-Sport package or sold as M40i. The X4 M40i is a performance trim that runs the larger brake from the factory and supports 20 to 22 inch aftermarket diameter. (The full BMW M-division X4 M F98 is a separate platform we cover on our X4 M hub.) The X4 also runs broadly square front and rear in the aftermarket. Some buyers add a light stagger on the G02 M40i for the deeper-face look, but the dominant build is square.
