BMW X6 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The BMW X6 is the coupe-SUV that launched in 2008 and has run across three chassis generations, the E71 (2008-2014), the F15-era F16 (2015-2019), and the current G06 (2020 and up). The X6 shares its chassis with the X5 of the same era, with the X6 being the sloped-roof variant of the same platform. The most important fitment fact on the X6 is the 2020 bolt-pattern shift. The E71 and F16 ran 5x120, the BMW pattern that was standard across the M and X lineups for over a decade. The G06 (2020 and up) moved to 5x112, the wider-VAG-influenced pattern BMW adopted across the brand. Pre-2020 and post-2020 X6 wheels do not interchange. Within each generation, the brake option (Base versus M Sport) tightens the offset window. The X6M is a separate platform with its own hub, tracked at our BMW X6M wheel hub. Pick your generation below for the fitment specs that apply to your X6.

Find Your BMW X6 Generation

Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific X6. The bolt pattern shifted at 2020 from 5x120 (E71, F16) to 5x112 (G06). Within each generation, the brake option determines which offset and width window applies. The X6M is tracked separately because the M-specific brakes and wider track do not match the standard X6.

The BMW X6 Bolt Pattern Shift

The E71 X6 (2008-2014) and the F16 X6 (2015-2019) run 5x120 with M14x1.25 lug bolts. BMW has a notable front-rear hub asymmetry on these generations: the front hub bore is 74.1mm and the rear hub bore is 72.56mm. The two bores share the same 5x120 bolt circle. Most aftermarket wheels ship with a centerbore sized to clear the larger front hub, and rear hub centric rings are used to step the wheel down to the 72.56mm rear hub when needed.

The G06 X6 (2020 and up) shifted to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. This is the same 5x112 / 66.56mm hub that BMW adopted brand-wide on the post-2018 BMW lineup, including the current X5 G05. The bolt pattern shift means E71 and F16 wheels do not bolt to a G06 X6, and vice versa. A factory or aftermarket wheel built for a 2019 X6 will not fit a 2020 X6. This is the most-mistaken spec on the X6 platform. Confirm your X6 year before ordering. The X6 also shares its chassis with the X5 of the same era. E71 X6 = E70 X5. F16 X6 = F15 X5. G06 X6 = G05 X5. Wheels often cross between same-era X5 and X6 when offset and brake clearance match. Compare across the rest of the BMW lineup at our BMW wheels and rims hub or step over to the BMW X5 hub for the SUV variant.

Why X6 Brake Option Determines Wheel Fit

BMW gives the X6 multiple brake options on the G06, and the brake you have determines what wheels actually clear. The G06 Base brake ships on entry-trim X6 builds and allows the widest aftermarket fitment window. The M Sport brake option, packaged with the M Sport appearance and suspension upgrade, carries a larger front caliper than the Base. The M Sport caliper sits higher in the wheel cavity. A wheel that clears the Base brake on a 2020 X6 can hit the M Sport caliper on the same year. We measure both as separate catalog rows on the G06.

The X6M is a separate vehicle and a separate fitment hub on our site at /wheels/bmw/x6m. The X6M carries the M-specific brakes, a wider track than the standard X6, and a must-be-staggered factory wheel setup. X6M wheels and standard X6 wheels do not interchange.

The front brakes are larger than the rear on every X6 generation. That is the factory configuration and the norm on a heavy performance SUV. The front axle does the majority of the stopping work, and BMW scales the front rotor and caliper to match. The size delta means the front wheel needs more clearance behind the face than the rear, which is one reason we measure both axles separately on every X6 fitment.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, BMW X6

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the X6 generations:

  • E71 X6 (2008-2014): 5x120 bolt pattern, 74.1mm front hub bore, 72.56mm rear hub bore, M14x1.25 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 20-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8.5-10 inch front, 9.5-11 inch rear. Optional staggered.
  • F16 X6 (2015-2019): 5x120 bolt pattern, 74.1mm front hub bore, 72.56mm rear hub bore, M14x1.25 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 20-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8.5-10 inch front, 9.5-11 inch rear. Optional staggered.
  • G06 X6 with Base Brakes (2020 and up): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore, M14x1.25 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19-24 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8-10.5 inch front, 9-11.5 inch rear. Optional staggered.
  • G06 X6 with M Sport Brakes (2020 and up): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore, M14x1.25 lug bolts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19-24 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8-10.5 inch front, 9-11.5 inch rear. Tighter front offset window than Base because of the larger M Sport caliper.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific X6 generation and brake option (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the BMW X6 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation, especially on G06 M Sport brake trims.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on BMW X6 Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every X6 generation back to the E71. For the X6 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height for Base versus M Sport on the G06 and across the trims on the E71 and F16, hub bore confirmation on the 74.1mm front and 72.56mm rear hub on the E71 and F16 and the 66.56mm hub on the G06, and lug bolt seat depth. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

BMW X6 Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a BMW X6?

The E71 X6 (2008-2014) and the F16 X6 (2015-2019) both run 5x120 with a 74.1mm front hub bore, a 72.56mm rear hub bore, and M14x1.25 lug bolts. The G06 X6 (2020 and up) shifted to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore and the same M14x1.25 lug bolts. Pre-2020 and post-2020 X6 wheels do not interchange.

Why does the E71 / F16 X6 have a different front and rear hub bore?

That is the BMW E71 / F16 front-rear hub asymmetry. The front hub measures 74.1mm. The rear hub measures 72.56mm. Both share the same 5x120 bolt circle so a wheel will bolt at any corner. Aftermarket wheels ship with a centerbore sized for the larger front hub. To clear the smaller 72.56mm rear hub correctly, a rear hub centric ring steps the wheel down. We confirm hub bore on every X6 fitment we publish.

Will F16 X6 wheels fit a G06 X6?

No. The F16 (2015-2019) runs 5x120. The G06 (2020 and up) runs 5x112. Different bolt circle. The wheels do not bolt across the 2019 to 2020 cutoff. The hub bore is also different (74.1mm front / 72.56mm rear on the F16, 66.56mm on the G06). Confirm your model year before ordering. This is the most-common mistake on the X6 platform.

Do X5 and X6 wheels cross?

Yes, within the same generation. The X6 and X5 share a chassis on every generation. E71 X6 = E70 X5. F16 X6 = F15 X5. G06 X6 = G05 X5. Bolt pattern, hub bore, and offset windows align on each pair. Wheels often cross between same-era X5 and X6 when offset and brake clearance match. The 2020 5x120-to-5x112 bolt-pattern shift happened simultaneously on both X5 and X6.

Does the M Sport brake option change wheel fitment on the G06 X6?

Yes. The G06 X6 ships with either the Base brake or the M Sport brake option. The M Sport brake carries a larger front caliper than the Base. The M Sport caliper sits higher in the wheel cavity and tightens the front offset window. A wheel that clears the Base brake can hit the M Sport caliper on the same year. We track Base and M Sport as separate catalog rows on the G06.

Are BMW X6 wheels staggered?

Staggered is optional on every X6 generation. The factory ships some trims square and some trims with a wider rear wheel than front, and aftermarket X6 builds run both layouts. The X6M is must-be-staggered from the factory, with a noticeably wider rear wheel; the standard X6 is more flexible.

Do I need hub centric rings on an X6?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than your factory hub. The E71 and F16 X6 use 74.1mm at the front and 72.56mm at the rear, so a rear-only ring is sometimes needed even when the front does not. The G06 X6 uses 66.56mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific BMW X6?

Three steps. Confirm your generation by year (E71 2008-2014, F16 2015-2019, G06 2020 and up). Confirm your brake option (Base or M Sport on the G06). Confirm whether you are on the standard X6 or the X6M, which uses a different fitment hub on our site. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific X6 (each listing publishes its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you are on an M Sport brake G06, contact our team for a free fitment consultation before ordering. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
