Cadillac STS Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Cadillac STS is the full-size luxury sport sedan Cadillac sold from the 2005 through the 2011 model year on the GM Sigma platform, the same rear-drive-based architecture that carried the 1st gen CTS Sedan, the 1st gen SRX wagon, and several other Cadillac models of the era. Production ended after 2011 and the STS does not have a direct named successor in the modern Cadillac lineup. Element Wheels measures the STS in two catalog rows: the standard STS Sedan (2005-2011) and the supercharged STS-V (2006-2009). The lug-count split is the trap on this car. The standard STS is a five-lug platform: 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. The STS-V is a six-lug platform: 6x115 with the same 70.3mm hub bore. Hub bore is constant across both rows, but the lug count differs and wheels do not bolt across the two trims. The STS-V adds the supercharged 4.4L LC3 Northstar V8 and the Brembo front brake package; the six-lug pattern came with the heavier-vehicle hardware and the higher load rating.

Find Your Cadillac STS Configuration

Pick your trim to see wheels and rims that fit your specific STS. The first thing to confirm is the lug count. The standard STS Sedan is five-lug at 5x115; the STS-V is six-lug at 6x115. Both share the same 70.3mm hub bore but the lug patterns do not interchange. A standard STS wheel will not bolt to an STS-V and the reverse is also true.

The Cadillac STS Bolt Pattern Splits by Trim

The standard Cadillac STS Sedan (2005-2011) runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. Five lugs, M12x1.5 thread pitch, factory lug nuts. The STS-V (2006-2009) runs 6x115 with the same 70.3mm hub bore. Six lugs, M12x1.5 thread pitch. Same lug spacing diameter at 115mm, same hub bore, different number of studs. Cadillac specced the heavier and faster STS-V with six lugs rather than five to handle the load and torque of the supercharged 4.4L LC3 Northstar V8 and the higher Brembo-fed braking loads.

Five-lug 5x115 and six-lug 6x115 do not interchange. The lug stud spacing is the same diameter (115mm), but the count is different, so a 5x115 wheel cannot land on six studs and a 6x115 wheel cannot land on five. The 70.3mm hub bore is the same Sigma platform hub spec that appears across the 1st gen CTS Sedan (which is also 5x115 / 70.3mm), the 1st gen SRX (which is the same Sigma platform but six-lug at 6x115 / 70.3mm like the STS-V), and the early standard ATS (also 5x115 / 70.3mm on a related Alpha-era chassis). The Sigma-era 70.3mm hub bore is one of the consistent specs across early-2000s Cadillac sedans and wagons; lug count varies with vehicle weight and performance rating.

Compare across the rest of the Cadillac lineup at our Cadillac wheels and rims hub. The STS does not have a direct named successor in the modern Cadillac lineup. The 1st gen CTS Sedan (also 5x115 / 70.3mm) is the closest same-platform sibling for the standard STS; the 1st gen SRX (6x115 / 70.3mm) is the closest same-platform sibling for the STS-V's six-lug pattern.

Why the STS-V Changes Both the Lug Count and the Wheel Window

The standard STS Sedan is offered with V6 or naturally-aspirated V8 powertrains and a brake package sized for a full-size luxury sedan. The wheel-width window on the standard STS runs 7.5 to 9 inch on the front and 8.5 to 10.5 inch on the rear, and the catalog tags the standard STS as optionally staggered (FT=3), meaning a wider rear wheel is acceptable but not required. The diameter window opens at 17 inch on the smaller-trim variants and tops at 22 inch. AWD was available on most standard STS trims and the AWD car runs the same wheel spec we measure for RWD; drivetrain does not change the wheel you can buy on the standard STS.

The STS-V is the supercharged 4.4L LC3 Northstar V8 trim Cadillac built from 2006 through 2009. The V trim adds the Brembo front brake package, the six-lug hub, and a tighter wheel window. Diameter starts at 19 inch on the STS-V (the larger Brembo front caliper does not clear smaller wheels consistently). Width runs 8 to 9 inch on the front and 9 to 10.5 inch on the rear. The STS-V is optionally staggered like the standard STS, but the rear-wheel-width range is wider and most STS-V builds we have seen go staggered to fill the rear fender. Front brake larger than rear is the normal configuration on a supercharged V8 performance sedan, and the front wheel face needs to clear the Brembo caliper.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Cadillac STS

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the STS line:

  • STS Sedan (2005-2011, Sigma): 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5-9 inch front, 8.5-10.5 inch rear. Optional staggered. Five-lug, M12x1.5 thread pitch.
  • STS-V (2006-2009, Sigma): 6x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8-9 inch front, 9-10.5 inch rear. Optional staggered. Six-lug, M12x1.5 thread pitch. Brembo front brakes; front brake larger than rear.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific STS (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the STS wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on Cadillac STS Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both STS trims. For the STS that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on both axles, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, front brake caliper height (standard on the base STS, Brembo on the STS-V), hub bore confirmation to the 70.3mm Sigma hub on both trims, lug seat geometry across the five-lug-to-six-lug split, and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is what catches the five-vs-six lug count difference between the standard STS and the STS-V, which is a less-common split on a luxury sport sedan and the most-mistaken spec on the STS platform.

Cadillac STS Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Cadillac STS?

It depends on the trim. The standard STS Sedan (2005-2011) runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. The STS-V (2006-2009) runs 6x115 with the same 70.3mm hub bore. Both trims share lug spacing at 115mm and hub bore at 70.3mm, but the lug count is different: five on the standard STS, six on the STS-V. Confirm by trim, not by visual count.

Will standard STS wheels fit an STS-V?

No. The standard STS is five-lug at 5x115 and the STS-V is six-lug at 6x115. A five-lug wheel cannot land on a six-lug hub and the reverse is also true. The STS-V also runs the Brembo front brake package, which tightens the inner-barrel clearance needed behind the wheel face. STS-V wheels do not bolt to a standard STS either.

Why is the STS-V six-lug when the standard STS is five-lug?

Cadillac specced the heavier and faster STS-V with a six-lug hub to handle the load and torque of the supercharged 4.4L LC3 Northstar V8 and the higher-load Brembo brake package. Six lugs spread the clamping load across more contact points and raise the wheel-to-hub assembly's strength margin. The same logic appears on the Sigma-era 1st gen SRX, which is six-lug because it carries a heavier vehicle load than the five-lug CTS Sedan of the same era. The 70.3mm Sigma hub bore stays the same across both.

Will 1st gen CTS wheels fit a standard STS?

Same-chassis exception: yes on the standard STS, with caveats. The 1st gen CTS Sedan (2003-2007) and the standard STS Sedan (2005-2011) both ride on the Sigma platform and both run 5x115 / 70.3mm. Bolt pattern and hub bore align. The STS is a longer, heavier full-size sedan and the offset window can differ between the two cars, so confirm offset before crossing wheels. The 1st gen CTS does not bolt to an STS-V because the CTS is five-lug and the STS-V is six-lug. CTS fitment lives at /wheels/cadillac/cts.

Are Cadillac STS wheels staggered?

Optional staggered on both trims (catalog FT=3). Standard STS accepts a square setup or a mild rear-wheel-width stagger; many STS builds we have seen run square because the standard car is a luxury sedan first. The STS-V is more commonly built staggered because the supercharged V8 trim is performance-focused and the rear fender accepts a wider wheel and tire. AWD is available on the standard STS and the AWD car can still run mild stagger as an aftermarket option, though the AWD system needs the tire diameters to match closely front to rear.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Cadillac STS?

Our measured Element aftermarket window tops at 22 inch on both the standard STS and the STS-V. 20 inch is the most common choice on the standard STS for a balance of ride quality and visual presence on the full-size sedan body. 22 inch is the ceiling on both trims. On the STS-V the diameter window starts at 19 inch because the larger Brembo front caliper does not clear smaller wheels consistently. Tire selection thins above 20 inch on the STS-V and ride quality drops sharply above 22.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Cadillac STS?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 70.3mm. The hub bore is the same on both the standard STS and the STS-V. If you are running BMW-bored wheels (72.56mm) on an STS, you will need a 72.56-to-70.3mm hub centric ring to land the wheel hub-centric. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific Cadillac STS?

Two steps on the STS. Confirm your trim: standard STS Sedan (2005-2011) is 5-lug at 5x115 / 70.3mm; STS-V (2006-2009) is 6-lug at 6x115 / 70.3mm. Both share the 70.3mm hub bore but the lug counts differ. Then use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific STS and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds with size and offset captions. If you are on an STS-V, contact our team for a free fitment consultation before ordering. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
