Chevrolet C-1500 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Chevrolet C-1500 is the 2WD half-ton variant of the 1988-1998 GMT400 platform, the fourth-generation C/K truck. The C-1500 carried a 5x127 bolt pattern with a 78.1mm hub bore and a 5-lug count, which is different from its 4WD twin, the K-1500. That C-vs-K split confuses a lot of cross-shoppers, so getting it right starts with confirming you have the 2WD truck. Element Wheels has measured C-1500 fitment for restoration and resto-mod builds, with a 15 to 24 inch diameter window and offsets that support both factory-style fitments and the deep-dish look common on Square Body-era Chevy trucks. Find your fitment below and you can rest assured the wheels and rims will fit the way you want every time.
Find Your Chevrolet C-1500 Fitment
The C-1500 carried a single 5x127 bolt pattern across the entire 1988-1998 GMT400 run. Pick the year range to see the wheels and rims we have measured for the platform.
The Chevrolet C-1500 Bolt Pattern
Every 1988-1998 Chevrolet C-1500 uses 5x127 with a 78.1mm hub bore. The imperial nickname for 5x127 is 5x5 (127mm converts cleanly to 5 inches). Lug count is 5, and the factory thread pitch is M14x1.5. The 5-lug C-1500 pattern is shared with the same-era Suburban C1500 2WD and a long line of light-duty 2WD Chevy and GMC trucks going back to the C-10 5-lug. It is also the same pattern used by classic GM full-size cars (the 5x5 was a common GM half-ton and full-size standard for decades).
The most important thing to know about C-1500 fitment is what it is not. The C-1500 5-lug pattern does NOT cross to the K-1500, the 4WD twin on the same GMT400 platform. The K-1500 uses a 6x139.7 6-lug pattern. That C-vs-K split is the most common buyer mistake on these trucks. Count the studs on one wheel first. 5 studs means you have the C-1500 2WD half-ton and this page applies. 6 studs means you have the K-1500 4WD half-ton and you want the K-1500 wheels and rims page instead. The GMC Sierra C1500 is the badge-engineered twin of the C-1500 and shares the same 5x127 fitment math. Compare against the rest of the Chevrolet lineup at our Chevrolet wheels and rims hub.
Why C-1500 Buyers Run Deep-Dish Fitments
The C-1500 is a body-on-frame 2WD truck with a generous fender well and a wide rear axle by design. Most aftermarket C-1500 buyers are building a restoration, a resto-mod, or a lowered street truck. The aesthetic leans on deep-dish wheels with negative or zero offset and a wide width that fills the fender. The factory C-1500 ran 15 inch wheels with a moderate positive offset. Modern builds on the C-1500 typically run 17 to 22 inch wheels in front and 20 to 24 inch in the rear with offsets running well into negative territory on lowered or static-drop trucks. Our measured window supports the full range.
Element Wheels C-1500 Measured Fitment Window
- Diameter: 15 to 24 inch
- Width: 7 to 10 inch front and rear
- Offset window: measured for the C-1500 and confirmed at our Chandler, Arizona facility. Run your year through Year/Make/Model search above or contact our team for a free fitment consultation to see the exact offsets that work for your build.
- Fitment type: square or staggered, staggered with a wider rear is common on lowered builds
The reason the negative-offset window works on the C-1500 is the fender geometry on the GMT400 body. The rear quarter has room for a wider tire and a deeper-offset wheel without rubbing the inner tub. On the front, the 2WD knuckle geometry leaves more room than the 4WD K-1500 for an aggressive front offset. This is also why the C-1500 fitment window does not transfer to the K-1500. Different knuckles, different bolt patterns, and a different front-end height.
How We Confirm Fitment on Chevrolet C-1500 Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the C-1500. For the C-1500 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on stock-height suspension, gap between the back of the wheel and the front knuckle and suspension components, hub bore confirmation on the 5-lug axle, lug stud height, and how much room the wheel and tire have when turning. We do this work from our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona on stock-height trucks, not from manufacturer spec sheets the way most retailers do.
That measurement work is what produced the offset and width windows on this page. It is also why every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Chevrolet C-1500 Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Chevrolet C-1500?
Every 1988-1998 Chevrolet C-1500 uses 5x127 (the imperial nickname is 5x5). Hub bore is 78.1mm and lug count is 5. The factory thread pitch is M14x1.5. The pattern does not cross to the K-1500 4WD, which uses a 6-lug 6x139.7 pattern instead.
What is the difference between a C-1500 and a K-1500?
The C designates 2WD and the K designates 4WD. Both trucks are on the GMT400 platform from 1988 through 1998 and look almost identical from the outside, but they use different bolt patterns. The C-1500 (2WD) is 5x127 with 5 lugs. The K-1500 (4WD) is 6x139.7 with 6 lugs. The easiest field check is to count the studs on one wheel. 5 studs means C-1500 (2WD). 6 studs means K-1500 (4WD).
What is the hub bore on a Chevrolet C-1500?
The C-1500 hub bore is 78.1mm on every 1988-1998 truck. Most aftermarket wheels for the 5x127 pattern are bored to 78.1mm or larger. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a C-1500?
Our measured C-1500 window tops at 24 inch diameter. The most popular sizes on restoration and resto-mod builds are 18 inch, 20 inch, 22 inch, and 24 inch. Above 24 inch the tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops sharply on a body-on-frame truck. The factory C-1500 ran 15 inch wheels, so the measured 15 to 24 inch range covers the full restoration and modern-build spectrum.
Are C-1500 wheels staggered?
The factory C-1500 ran square (same wheel front and rear). Restoration and street-truck builds often run staggered with a wider, deeper-offset rear for the deep-dish look. Both work on the C-1500. The rear axle has the width to support a 10 inch rear with a negative offset and still tuck inside the bed-side fender, which is why the staggered look has stayed popular on the platform.
Will GMC Sierra C1500 wheels fit my Chevrolet C-1500?
Yes. The 1988-1998 GMC Sierra C1500 is the badge-engineered twin of the Chevrolet C-1500. Same GMT400 platform, same 5x127 bolt pattern, same 78.1mm hub bore, same suspension geometry. The wheels cross between the two trucks without modification.
What is the OEM offset and torque spec on a C-1500?
Factory offset on the C-1500 ran between roughly +12mm and +20mm depending on wheel size and trim. Thread pitch is M14x1.5 and the factory lug nut torque on the 5-lug C-1500 is 90 to 100 ft lbs. Always confirm against your owner manual. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles when fitting a new wheel.
How do I find wheels for my specific C-1500?
Pick the 1988-1998 GMT400 link above. The page shows the diameter, width, and offset windows we have measured on the platform. If you are running a non-stock rear axle, a lowered or static-drop setup, or a heavily modified front suspension, contact our team. We can help identify the right fitment based on your actual build.
