Chevrolet C-2500 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Chevrolet C-2500 is the 3/4-ton 2WD variant of the 1988-2000 GMT400 platform. Like the 4WD K-2500, the C-2500 was sold in two different running-gear configurations during its production: a light-duty 3/4-ton with the 6-lug 6x139.7 axle, and a heavy-duty 3/4-ton with the 8-lug 8x165 axle. Same year, same cab, two different bolt patterns. Confirming which C-2500 you have is step one. Element Wheels tracks both fitments separately. The 6-lug C-2500 shares its fitment math with the C-1500 half-ton on the same platform. The 8-lug C-2500 shares its fitment math with the heavy-duty C-3500 1-ton. Find the right variant below and you can rest assured the wheels and rims will fit the way you want every time.
Find Your Chevrolet C-2500 Fitment
Pick the variant that matches your truck. The 6-lug is the light-duty 3/4-ton C-2500 on a 6x139.7 axle. The 8-lug is the heavy-duty 3/4-ton C-2500 on an 8x165 axle. Count the studs on one wheel before you pick. Both variants share the 1988-2000 GMT400 cab and body.
The Chevrolet C-2500 Bolt Pattern
The C-2500 ran in two different bolt patterns during its 1988-2000 production. The light-duty 3/4-ton C-2500 used 6x139.7 with a 78.1mm hub bore and 6 lugs. The imperial nickname for 6x139.7 is 6x5.5 (139.7mm converts cleanly to 5.5 inches). The heavy-duty 3/4-ton C-2500 used 8x165 with a 116.7mm hub bore and 8 lugs. The imperial nickname for 8x165 is 8x6.5 (165mm converts cleanly to 6.5 inches). Same model name, same year, two different axles and two different bolt patterns. The split is GVWR-driven. The light-duty 3/4-ton was rated for lighter loads on the lighter 6-lug axle. The heavy-duty 3/4-ton carried the same axle hardware as the 1-ton C-3500 to handle higher payload and towing capacity.
The two patterns do not cross. A 6-lug 6x139.7 wheel will not bolt onto an 8-lug 8x165 axle, and the reverse is also true. Count the studs on one wheel to confirm which C-2500 you have. 6 studs means the 6-lug light-duty C-2500 and shares fitment math with the C-1500. 8 studs means the 8-lug heavy-duty C-2500 and shares fitment math with the C-3500 and the early Silverado 2500 HD, which carried the same 8x165 pattern through 2010. The GMC Sierra C2500 is the badge-engineered twin and carries the same 6-lug or 8-lug split depending on which variant you have. Compare against the rest of the Chevrolet lineup at our Chevrolet wheels and rims hub.
Why the 6-Lug and 8-Lug C-2500 Need Different Wheels
The two C-2500 variants share the GMT400 cab and body, but the wheel-fitment math is different because the axles are different. The 6-lug 78.1mm hub bore on the light-duty C-2500 lines up with a different aftermarket wheel population than the 8-lug 116.7mm hub bore on the heavy-duty C-2500. Width windows happen to overlap in our measured catalog (both variants run 16 to 24 inch diameter and 7 to 10.5 inch width), but the bolt circle and the centerbore are not interchangeable. Buying for the wrong variant means the wheel will not bolt on at all.
Element Wheels C-2500 Measured Fitment Window
- C-2500 6-Lug: 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore, 16 to 24 inch diameter, 7 to 10.5 inch width
- C-2500 8-Lug: 8x165 bolt pattern, 116.7mm hub bore, 16 to 24 inch diameter, 7 to 10.5 inch width
- Offset window: measured for both C-2500 variants and confirmed at our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona. Run your year through Year/Make/Model search above or contact our team for a free fitment consultation to see the exact offsets that work on your truck.
- Fitment type: square is the buying default on both variants
The other side of the split is what the truck is used for. The 6-lug light-duty C-2500 attracted owners who wanted a 3/4-ton 2WD but did not need the heavy-duty axle, so the wheel choice trends closer to a C-1500 build with daily-driver or moderate work use. The 8-lug heavy-duty C-2500 attracted owners running heavier loads, towing, fleet work, or commercial duty, so the wheel choice trends toward 8-lug truck wheels with higher load ratings. The catalog window is the same, but the buying intent is different and the wheel populations available in each bolt pattern reflect that.
How We Confirm Fitment on Chevrolet C-2500 Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both C-2500 variants. For the C-2500 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on stock-height suspension, hub bore confirmation on the 6-lug or 8-lug axle, lug stud height, brake caliper clearance, and load rating verification on 8-lug wheels for HD use. The 2WD running gear in front gives the C-2500 a different turning-lock clearance than the K-2500, so the C-2500 typically clears wider widths at lower offsets than the 4WD twin. We do this work from our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona on stock-height trucks, not from manufacturer spec sheets the way most retailers do.
That measurement work is what produced the offset and width windows on this page. It is also why every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Chevrolet C-2500 Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Chevrolet C-2500?
The C-2500 ran two bolt patterns during 1988-2000 production. The light-duty 3/4-ton uses 6x139.7 (6x5.5 imperial) with a 78.1mm hub bore and 6 lugs. The heavy-duty 3/4-ton uses 8x165 (8x6.5 imperial) with a 116.7mm hub bore and 8 lugs. Count the studs on one wheel to confirm which C-2500 you have. The two patterns do not cross.
How do I tell which C-2500 variant I have?
Count the lug studs on one wheel. 6 studs means the light-duty 3/4-ton C-2500 on the 6x139.7 axle. 8 studs means the heavy-duty 3/4-ton C-2500 on the 8x165 axle. The cab and body are the same on both variants, so you cannot tell from looking at the outside. The GVWR sticker in the driver door jamb also confirms which C-2500 you have. Light-duty 3/4-ton sits around 7,200 lb GVWR. Heavy-duty 3/4-ton sits around 8,600 lb GVWR.
What is the hub bore on a Chevrolet C-2500?
Hub bore depends on the variant. The 6-lug C-2500 uses a 78.1mm hub bore (same as the C-1500 and the modern Silverado 1500). The 8-lug C-2500 uses a 116.7mm hub bore (same as the C-3500 1-ton and the 1999-2010 Silverado 2500 HD). If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
Will C-1500 wheels fit my C-2500?
Only if you have the 6-lug light-duty C-2500. Note that the GMT400 C-1500 ran a 5-lug 5x127 pattern, not 6-lug, so C-1500 wheels do not cross to either C-2500 variant. If your 6-lug light-duty C-2500 needs a wheel from a half-ton donor, look at the K-1500 (same era 6x139.7 6-lug) instead. If you have the 8-lug heavy-duty C-2500, you need 8-lug 8x165 wheels. Count the studs first.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a C-2500?
Our measured C-2500 window tops at 24 inch diameter on stock-height suspension, on both 6-lug and 8-lug variants. Most popular sizes on the C-2500 are 17 and 18 inch for work duty and stock-height builds, with 20, 22, and 24 inch on dropped or lightly modified trucks. On HD 8-lug builds the load rating of the wheel matters more than diameter, so picking a wheel rated for the GVWR is the priority.
Are C-2500 wheels staggered?
No. The C-2500 runs square (same wheel front and rear) from the factory, and almost every aftermarket C-2500 build also runs square. Truck stagger is rare on a 3/4-ton platform because the front and rear axle widths are close and tire rotation depends on running the same size on all four wheels.
Will GMC Sierra C2500 wheels fit my Chevrolet C-2500?
Yes, as long as you match the lug count. The 1988-2000 GMC Sierra C2500 is the badge-engineered twin of the Chevrolet C-2500 and carries the same 6-lug or 8-lug split. A 6-lug Sierra C2500 wheel fits a 6-lug Chevrolet C-2500. An 8-lug Sierra C2500 wheel fits an 8-lug Chevrolet C-2500. The wheels do not cross between the 6-lug and 8-lug variants regardless of brand badge.
What is the OEM offset and torque spec on a C-2500?
Factory offset on both variants ran between roughly +0mm and +20mm. Thread pitch is M14x1.5 on both. Lug nut torque on the 6-lug C-2500 is 120 to 140 ft lbs. Lug nut torque on the 8-lug C-2500 is 140 ft lbs. Always confirm against your owner manual. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles when fitting a new wheel.
