The 1991-2004 Cavalier is the generation range we have measured. This covers the second-generation J-body (1988-1994, with our catalog measuring the 1991 model year forward) and the full third-generation J-body (1995-2004). The Z24 sport trim sat inside this same hub geometry across both generations. The 1982-1987 first-generation Cavalier used a different 4-lug hub and is not part of this catalog row.

The Chevrolet Cavalier Bolt Pattern

The 1991-2004 Cavalier uses a 5x100 bolt pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 lug thread. 5x100 is a relatively common pattern in the compact segment of that era. The same 5x100 pattern appears on a long list of Subaru platforms (Impreza, WRX, Forester, Legacy through specific years), older Volkswagen Golf and Jetta platforms, the Toyota Prius and a few other Toyota compacts, and the Chrysler PT Cruiser. That cross-platform overlap matters mostly because it expands the aftermarket wheel selection for the Cavalier beyond the cars Chevrolet specifically intended the platform to share parts with.

Important distinction: 5x100 is NOT the same as 5x114.3, and 5x100 is also distinct from 5x115. The 5x100 metric pattern is exactly 100mm between opposing studs on the imaginary bolt circle. A 5x114.3 wheel will not seat on a Cavalier hub even though both are 5-lug patterns. The 57.1mm centerbore is also a shared spec with several VW, Audi, and older GM platforms, but the Cavalier's hub geometry as a whole still needs to be confirmed before assuming wheel cross-compatibility. Why Cavalier Fitment Is Stable Across the 1991-2004 Run

The Cavalier kept the same J-body hub geometry through its 5-lug production run, and that includes the Z24 sport variant. Base sedan, base coupe, base convertible, LS, RS, and Z24 trims of the same model year share the same bolt pattern, hub bore, lug thread, and brake package on the catalog. The Z24 ran the more powerful Quad-4 (and later the 2.4L Twin Cam, then the 2.2L Ecotec) but Chevrolet did not pair that engine with an upgraded brake or hub. That means a wheel that fits a base 1996 Cavalier sedan also fits a 1996 Z24 coupe of the same year, and offsets translate cleanly across the lineup.

What does change across the production run is the diameter window we comfortably measure. The earlier cars sit on 13 to 15 inch wheels from the factory and accept aftermarket wheels up to 17 inch without rubbing. The later cars (1995-2004 third-gen) accept the full 13 to 18 inch range we publish. Width is consistent across the run at 6 to 8 inch. We measure each variant directly so the catalog reflects what actually clears, not just what the spec sheet implies.
