The Chevrolet Cobalt is Chevy's compact sedan and coupe, sold from 2005 through 2010 as the replacement for the Cavalier on the GM Delta platform. The Cobalt is one of the more confusing platforms in the lineup because the base car and the performance trims do not share a bolt pattern at all. The 2005-2010 base Cobalt (LS, LT) runs a 4-lug 4x100 pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore. The 2005-2010 Cobalt SS (the supercharged and turbocharged performance trim) runs a 5-lug 5x110 pattern with a 65.1mm hub bore and a larger front brake package. The 2008-2010 Cobalt Sport, the milder sport trim added later in the run, also runs the 5-lug 5x110 spec without the bigger SS brakes. Different lug count, different bolt circle, different hub bore. The Chevrolet Cobalt Bolt Pattern by Trim

The 2005-2010 base Cobalt LS and LT use a 4-lug 4x100 pattern with a 57.1mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 thread. The 4x100 pattern is the same family used on many compact imports of the era (older Honda Civic, older Mazda3, older Toyota Corolla, etc.) and on the older Chevrolet Cavalier the Cobalt replaced. The base Cobalt is the only modern Chevrolet in our catalog that ships with 4 lugs. Every other Chevy sedan, coupe, and SUV we cover (Cruze, Sonic, Malibu, Impala, Camaro) runs a 5-lug hub.

The 2005-2010 Cobalt SS and the 2008-2010 Cobalt Sport step up to a 5-lug 5x110 pattern with a 65.1mm hub bore and the same M12x1.5 thread. The 5x110 pattern is shared with the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu (the 5x110 era of that platform) and is uncommon outside of mid-2000s GM and a handful of European platforms. Worth flagging. 5x110 is NOT the same as 5x114.3. The two patterns sit roughly 4mm apart on the hub circle. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname (114.3mm = 4.5 inch) refers only to 5x114.3, not to 5x110. Why Cobalt Fitment Varies by Trim

The Cobalt lineup runs on the same Delta platform across every trim but Chevrolet specced the performance variants on a stronger hub. The base LS and LT trims got the 4-lug 4x100 spec carried over from the older Cavalier era. The Cobalt SS, introduced in 2005 with the supercharged Ecotec and later transitioned to the turbocharged 2.0L Ecotec, got the upgraded 5-lug 5x110 hub plus a larger front brake to handle the extra power. The Cobalt Sport, added in 2008 as a milder sport trim, got the same 5-lug 5x110 hub as the SS but kept the standard brake package. The factory aftermarket diameter window reflects this. The base car accepts 15 to 20 inch wheels. The SS and Sport step up to a 17 inch minimum because the larger 5-lug hub does not pair well with smaller wheels and, on the SS specifically, the bigger front brake calipers do not clear 16 inch and smaller diameters.

Front brake larger than rear on the SS is normal for a performance compact. The supercharged and turbocharged SS makes around 205 to 260 horsepower depending on year and engine, and the front brake bias is sized for that power. The Sport trim does not run the bigger front brake, so the SS-specific catalog row carries different fitment notes than the Sport row even though both share the same 5x110 hub. We measure each trim directly on the car so the catalog reflects what actually fits.
