The Chevrolet Corvette Bolt Pattern

From the C1 in 1953 through the C7 in 2019, every Corvette used 5x120.65, the GM legacy muscle pattern also written as 5x4.75 in imperial. Hub bore was 70.3mm across the entire C1 through C7 run. That kept seven generations of Corvette on a single bolt pattern for sixty-six years.

The C8 changed it. When Chevrolet moved the Corvette to a mid-engine layout for the 2020 model year, the platform got a new bolt pattern and a new hub bore. The C8 runs 5x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore. The 0.65mm difference between 5x120.65 and 5x120 is small enough that the patterns sound identical at a glance, but the studs do not line up. A C7 wheel will not bolt to a C8, and a C8 wheel will not bolt to a C7. If you are cross-shopping wheels between Corvette generations, verify the bolt pattern before you buy. Why Trim and Brake Package Drive Corvette Wheel Buying

On the C5 and forward, the trim badge on the back of your Corvette decides more about wheel fitment than the model year does. Base, Z51, Z06, Grand Sport, ZR1, and E-Ray each ship with a different combination of fender width, wheel and tire size, and brake caliper. The brake especially matters. Carbon ceramic packages on the C6 Z06, C7 Z06, C7 Grand Sport, C8 Z06, and C8 E-Ray narrow the inner clearance window further than the steel brake version of the same trim. We track steel brake and carbon ceramic variants as separate fitments because the clearance picture shifts.

The C8 also brought a factory staggered requirement on the Z06 and the E-Ray. Our catalog flags both as staggered-required, not staggered-optional. The widebody fender on those two trims is sized for a much wider rear wheel than the Stingray, and going square (same front and rear) does not work without leaving the rear fender visibly under-filled or running into rub at the front. C8 Stingray and Z51 ship staggered from the factory but a thoughtful square setup is still workable for customers who want tire rotation flexibility.
