Chevrolet Equinox Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Chevrolet Equinox is Chevy's compact crossover and one of the higher volume crossover platforms in our catalog. It is on its fourth generation, with two different bolt patterns across the four eras. The 1st gen (2005-2009), the 3rd gen (2018-2024), and the current 4th gen (2025 and up) all run 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. The 2nd gen (2010-2017) is the exception: those Equinoxes ran 5x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore and a unique M14x1.5 thread instead of the M12x1.5 used everywhere else. The two patterns look close on paper but they do not cross. Element Wheels tracks Equinox fitment by generation. The factory configuration is square (same width front and rear) on every generation. Pick your year below.
Find Your Chevrolet Equinox Generation
Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Equinox. The 2nd gen 5x120 platform is the one that does not interchange with the rest of the lineup. Every other generation runs 5x115. Confirm your year before ordering.
The Chevrolet Equinox Bolt Pattern
The Equinox has used two combinations of bolt pattern and hub bore across its four generations. The 1st gen (2005-2009) runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 thread. The 2nd gen (2010-2017) changed to 5x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore and an M14x1.5 thread, the only Equinox generation that uses the larger M14 lug thread. The 3rd gen (2018-2024) returned to 5x115 with 70.3mm hub bore and M12x1.5 thread. The 4th gen (2025 and up) continues the 5x115 / 70.3mm / M12x1.5 spec. The lug count is 5 across every generation.
The 5x115 and 5x120 patterns look similar at a glance but they do not cross. The bolt circle is 5mm larger on the 2nd gen (120mm versus 115mm), the hub bore is smaller (66.9mm versus 70.3mm), and the lug thread is larger (M14x1.5 versus M12x1.5). A 2010-2017 Equinox wheel and a 2018 and up Equinox wheel are not interchangeable even though they look very close. If you are buying for the 2010-2017 generation, you also need M14 lug nuts (not the M12 lug nuts the rest of the lineup uses). Compare across the rest of the Chevrolet lineup at our Chevrolet wheels and rims hub.
Why the 2010-2017 Equinox Needs Its Own Wheel Spec
The 2nd gen Equinox sat on GM's Theta platform alongside the GMC Terrain, the Cadillac SRX, and the Saab 9-4X. GM specced 5x120 (the European-style bolt pattern shared with BMWs and several Saabs) on the Theta platform vehicles of that era, paired with a smaller 66.9mm hub bore and the larger M14x1.5 lug thread. The 1st gen Equinox before it was 5x115, and the 3rd gen Equinox after it returned to 5x115, so the 2010-2017 generation sits on its own bolt pattern island within the Equinox lineup. This is the single most common Equinox fitment mistake we see at the shop. A customer reads a forum post that says "the Equinox is 5x115," orders accordingly, and the 2nd gen wheel does not bolt on.
One note on the 4th gen Equinox and the Equinox EV. The current generation launched for the 2025 model year on GM's gas-engine compact crossover platform, and the Equinox EV launched alongside it as a battery-electric variant on the BEV3 platform. Both carry the Equinox name. The wheel hub spec on the gas Equinox is 5x115 / 70.3mm / M12x1.5, the same as the 1st and 3rd generation. The Equinox EV uses a different chassis underneath even though it shares the model name. If you are shopping for an Equinox EV specifically, use our Year/Make/Model search by selecting the EV trim explicitly so the catalog returns the right fitment for your vehicle.
How We Confirm Fitment on Chevrolet Equinox Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every Equinox generation back to 2005. For the Equinox that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub protrusion past the centerbore (70.3mm on 1st, 3rd, and 4th gen, 66.9mm on 2nd gen), and lug seat depth across the M12 and M14 thread variants. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Chevrolet Equinox Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Chevrolet Equinox?
It depends on the generation. The 1st gen (2005-2009), 3rd gen (2018-2024), and 4th gen (2025 and up) Equinox run 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore and M12x1.5 thread. The 2nd gen (2010-2017) runs 5x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore and the larger M14x1.5 thread. The 2nd gen does not interchange with the rest of the lineup. Confirm your year before ordering.
Why is the 2010-2017 Equinox a different bolt pattern from the rest?
The 2nd gen Equinox sat on GM's Theta platform, which used 5x120 (the European-style pattern shared with BMWs and several Saabs) paired with a smaller 66.9mm hub bore and the larger M14x1.5 lug thread. The 1st gen before it and the 3rd and 4th gen after it use the GM small crossover 5x115 / 70.3mm / M12x1.5 spec. The 2010-2017 generation is the outlier within the Equinox lineup. This is the single most common Equinox fitment mistake we see, because the 5x115 and 5x120 patterns look identical to the eye but they do not cross.
Will 2010-2017 GMC Terrain wheels fit my 2010-2017 Equinox?
Generally yes. The 2010-2017 Equinox and the 2010-2017 GMC Terrain share the GM Theta platform, the 5x120 bolt pattern with 66.9mm hub bore, and the same M14x1.5 lug thread. Wheels typically cross between the two crossovers within that generation. Use the Year/Make/Model search to confirm fitment on the Equinox specifically.
Does the Equinox EV use the same wheels as the gas Equinox?
No. The Equinox EV launched alongside the 4th gen gas Equinox for the 2024-2025 model years, but it sits on GM's BEV3 platform underneath, not the gas Equinox chassis. The two vehicles share the model name and not much else. If you are shopping for an Equinox EV specifically, use our Year/Make/Model search by selecting the EV trim explicitly so the catalog returns the right fitment for your vehicle.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Chevrolet Equinox?
Our measured Element aftermarket diameter window tops at 22 inch on the 1st gen, 2nd gen, and 4th gen Equinox with the right offset and tire size. 18 inch and 20 inch are the most common aftermarket choices on every generation. The 3rd gen (2018-2024) tops at 20 inch because the suspension and brake clearances are slightly tighter on that body.
Are Equinox wheels staggered?
No. Every Equinox generation runs a square (non-staggered) fitment from the factory and the aftermarket follows. Same wheel width front and rear. Same tire size front and rear.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Chevrolet Equinox?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 70.3mm on the 1st, 3rd, or 4th gen Equinox (or 66.9mm on the 2nd gen). If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Equinox?
Two steps. Confirm your year range (2005-2009, 2010-2017, 2018-2024, or 2025 and up) since the bolt pattern is different on the 2010-2017 generation. Then use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Equinox (each listing shows its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you are on the 2nd gen 2010-2017 Equinox, double-check the wheel listing for 5x120 with M14x1.5 lugs before ordering. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
