The Chevrolet K-3500 Bolt Pattern

The K-3500 ran a single bolt pattern from 1988 through 2000: 8x165 with a 116.6mm hub bore and 8 lugs. The imperial nickname for 8x165 is 8x6.5 (165mm converts cleanly to 6.5 inches). This is the same heavy-duty pattern used on the 2WD C-3500, the 8-lug variant of the 3/4-ton C-2500 and K-2500, and the 1999-2010 Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD. The 8-lug pattern is GVWR-driven. The 1-ton K-3500 carried the same axle hardware regardless of cab or bed configuration because the 1-ton GVWR requires it.

Where the K-3500 splits is on rear-wheel configuration. SRW (single rear wheel) trucks run a standard 8-lug fitment with a single tire on each rear hub. Dually configurations run dual rear wheels on each side, which require dually-specific wheels with a different offset and the correct hub design to clear the brake drum and to space the rear pair correctly. Both run the same 8x165 bolt circle and the same 116.6mm hub bore, but a standard SRW wheel will not work on a dually rear hub. The GMC Sierra K3500 is the badge-engineered twin and carries the same 8x165 pattern in both SRW and dually configurations. Why SRW and Dually K-3500 Builds Need Different Wheels

The K-3500 SRW build uses a standard 8x165 truck wheel with a single tire on each rear hub. Width and offset are picked to clear the brake, to clear the 4WD front axle at full steering lock, and to sit at a useful fender position. The 4WD front axle is the limiter on the K-3500 versus the 2WD C-3500. Our SRW catalog window for the K-3500 tops at 22 inch diameter and 9 inch width on stock-height suspension, narrower than the 24 inch diameter and 10.5 inch width window we run on the C-3500. The K-3500 dually build adds the dually-specific wheel population on top. Dually fronts and dually rears are not interchangeable across positions, and a standard SRW 8-lug truck wheel will not work on a dually rear hub even though the bolt circle and hub bore match.

Picking a wheel for a 1-ton K-3500 also means picking a wheel with a load rating that matches the truck. The K-3500 carries roughly 11,000 lb GVWR depending on configuration. A standard 8-lug truck wheel rated for a lighter HD truck may not have enough load capacity for the K-3500 in regular work use. Load rating is one of the items we confirm before recommending a wheel for any 1-ton build.
