Chevrolet Trailblazer Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Chevrolet Trailblazer name belongs to two completely different vehicles that happen to share badge work. The original Trailblazer (2002-2009) was a mid-size body-on-frame SUV on the GM GMT360 platform, with a 6x127 (6x5.0) bolt pattern and a 78.1mm hub bore. The Trailblazer SS (2006-2009) was the LS2-powered performance version on the same body-on-frame platform. The modern Trailblazer (2021 and up) is a small unibody crossover on the GM VSS-S platform, sharing chassis with the Buick Encore GX, and it runs 5x115 with a 70.2mm hub bore. These are not the same vehicle, the bolt patterns do not cross, and the wheels do not interchange between the two eras. Element Wheels tracks both as separate platforms in the catalog. Pick the right Trailblazer below.
Find Your Chevrolet Trailblazer Generation
Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Trailblazer. The two eras share the model name and nothing else. The 2002-2009 truck is 6-lug. The 2021 and up crossover is 5-lug. The first thing to confirm is which Trailblazer you have.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer Bolt Pattern
The original 2002-2009 Trailblazer and the Trailblazer SS run 6x127 (also called 6x5.0) with a 78.1mm hub bore. The lug count is 6, the thread pitch is M12x1.5, and the lug type is a standard tapered nut. 6x127 is the GM GMT360 mid-size SUV pattern of that era, also used on the GMC Envoy (the Trailblazer's GMC twin), the Buick Rainier, the Saab 9-7X, the Oldsmobile Bravada, and the Isuzu Ascender. The Chevy Colorado of the same era is a different platform (GMT355) running 6x139.7 with a 100.3mm hub bore, so Colorado wheels do not cross to the Trailblazer. Within the GMT360 family itself the wheels generally cross.
The 2021 and up Trailblazer runs 5x115 with a 70.2mm hub bore. The lug count is 5, the thread pitch is M12x1.5. 5x115 is the standard small GM crossover pattern of the current era, shared with the Buick Encore GX which sits on the same VSS-S unibody platform. The lug count alone is the fastest way to identify your Trailblazer. Six lug studs means the 2002-2009 truck. Five lug studs means the modern crossover. The two never interchange. Compare across the rest of the Chevrolet lineup at our Chevrolet wheels and rims hub.
Why the Two Trailblazer Eras Are Different Vehicles
The 2002-2009 Trailblazer was a body-on-frame mid-size SUV with rear-wheel-drive standard and four-wheel-drive optional, a 4.2 inline-six (or a 5.3 V8 on the EXT and the LT), and a curb weight around 4,500 pounds. The Trailblazer SS (2006-2009) added a 6.0 LS2 V8, lower ride height, and stiffer suspension while staying on the same body-on-frame architecture. These trucks fit in the same wheel pool as their GMT360 platform-mates like the GMC Envoy.
The 2021 and up Trailblazer is a completely different vehicle that reuses the name. It is a small unibody crossover on GM's VSS-S platform, with front-wheel-drive standard and all-wheel-drive optional, a turbocharged three-cylinder or four-cylinder engine, and a curb weight closer to 3,200 pounds. The modern Trailblazer is the same-chassis sibling of the Buick Encore GX. The RS and ACTIV trims add appearance and lifted-look packages but do not change the bolt-on architecture. The wheel and tire fitment box is much narrower than the body-on-frame truck simply because the vehicle is smaller, lighter, and lower. Confirm which Trailblazer you have before ordering.
How We Confirm Fitment on Chevrolet Trailblazer Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both Trailblazer eras. For these trucks and crossovers that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height (especially on the Trailblazer SS with the larger LS2-era brakes), hub protrusion past the centerbore, and lug seat depth. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Chevrolet Trailblazer
Publishable factory and wheel specs across both Trailblazer eras:
- Trailblazer GMT360 (2002-2009): 6x127 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread, 6 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 22 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 7 to 9.5 inch front and rear. Square (non-staggered) fitment. Body-on-frame.
- Trailblazer SS (2006-2009): 6x127 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread, 6 lug. Same fitment window as the standard Trailblazer with an extra inch of width available (up to 10 inch) on the SS performance trim. Square fitment. LS2-era brake package.
- Trailblazer Modern Crossover (2021 and up): 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.2mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17 to 20 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 7 to 8 inch front and rear. Square fitment. Unibody crossover on the VSS-S platform.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Trailblazer (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the Trailblazer wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Chevrolet Trailblazer Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Chevrolet Trailblazer?
It depends on which Trailblazer you have. The 2002-2009 body-on-frame Trailblazer and the Trailblazer SS run 6x127 (6x5.0) with a 78.1mm hub bore and M12x1.5 thread. The 2021 and up modern crossover runs 5x115 with a 70.2mm hub bore and M12x1.5 thread. Count the lug studs. Six studs means the older body-on-frame SUV. Five studs means the modern crossover.
Are the 2002-2009 Trailblazer and the 2021 and up Trailblazer the same vehicle?
No. They share the model name and nothing else. The 2002-2009 Trailblazer was a mid-size body-on-frame SUV on the GM GMT360 platform with rear-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive, a 4.2 inline-six (or a 5.3 V8 on some trims), and a curb weight around 4,500 pounds. The 2021 and up Trailblazer is a small unibody crossover on the GM VSS-S platform with front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive, a turbocharged three-cylinder or four-cylinder, and a curb weight closer to 3,200 pounds. Different size, different chassis, different bolt pattern, different wheels.
Do wheels cross between the Trailblazer and the GMC Envoy?
Within the 2002-2009 GMT360 family, generally yes. The Trailblazer is the Chevy-badged version of the same chassis that underpins the GMC Envoy, the Buick Rainier, the Saab 9-7X, the Oldsmobile Bravada, and the Isuzu Ascender. They share 6x127 / 78.1mm CB and the brake setup is largely common. The same-era Chevy Colorado is a different platform (GMT355, 6x139.7) and does NOT cross to the Trailblazer. Use the Year/Make/Model search to confirm the wheel was fit-tested on the Trailblazer specifically.
Will Buick Encore GX wheels fit my 2021 and up Trailblazer?
Generally yes. The 2021 and up Trailblazer and the Buick Encore GX share the GM VSS-S platform, the 5x115 bolt pattern with 70.2mm hub bore, and very similar brake and suspension geometry. Wheels typically cross between the two crossovers within the same generation. Use the Year/Make/Model search to confirm and the wheel listings will show fitment confirmed on the Trailblazer specifically.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Trailblazer?
On the 2002-2009 body-on-frame Trailblazer and the Trailblazer SS, our measured Element aftermarket diameter window tops at 22 inch with the right offset and tire size. 20 inch is the most common aftermarket choice. On the 2021 and up modern crossover, the window tops at 20 inch because the vehicle is physically smaller and the suspension and brake clearances are tighter. 18 inch is the most common aftermarket choice on the modern Trailblazer.
Are Trailblazer wheels staggered?
No. Every Trailblazer (both eras) runs a square (non-staggered) fitment from the factory and the aftermarket follows. Same wheel width front and rear. Same tire size front and rear.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Chevrolet Trailblazer?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 78.1mm on the 2002-2009 Trailblazer or 70.2mm on the 2021 and up modern crossover. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Trailblazer?
Two steps. Confirm your year range (2002-2009 body-on-frame, Trailblazer SS 2006-2009, or 2021 and up crossover). Then use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Trailblazer (each listing shows its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you are between the two eras, count the lug studs. Six lugs means the older truck. Five lugs means the modern crossover. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
