Chevrolet Traverse Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Chevrolet Traverse is Chevrolet's full-size three-row crossover SUV and one of the longer-running platforms in the GM crossover lineup. It is on its third generation, with a meaningful platform change between the 1st and 2nd gen. The 1st gen Traverse (2009-2017) ran on the Lambda platform with a 6x132 bolt pattern and a 74.5mm hub bore. The 2nd gen (2018-2023) moved to the new GM C1XX platform and the bolt pattern changed to 6x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore. The 3rd gen (2024 and up) continues the C1XX 6x120 spec. The two 6-lug patterns look similar at a glance but the difference is 12mm of bolt circle (132mm vs 120mm), and the hub bore changes too, so wheels do not cross between the 1st gen and the 2nd or 3rd gen. Element Wheels tracks Traverse fitment by generation. The factory configuration is square (same width front and rear) on every generation.
Find Your Chevrolet Traverse Generation
Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Traverse. The bolt pattern changes at the 2018 platform transition, then stays consistent through the 3rd gen. Confirm your year before ordering since the 1st gen and 2nd gen wheels do not interchange.
The Chevrolet Traverse Bolt Pattern
The Traverse has used two combinations of bolt pattern and hub bore across its three generations. The 1st gen (2009-2017) ran 6x132 with a 74.5mm hub bore, the GM Lambda platform spec shared with the same-era GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave. The 2nd gen (2018-2023) and the 3rd gen (2024 and up) both run 6x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore on the newer GM C1XX platform. The lug count is 6 across every generation. The thread pitch is M14x1.5.
The two 6-lug patterns are close enough on paper that buyers occasionally try to cross wheels between a 1st gen and a 2nd or 3rd gen Traverse. They do not cross. The bolt circle is 132mm on the older platform versus 120mm on the newer platform, a 12mm difference that is well outside the tolerance any wheel can absorb. The hub bore is also different (74.5mm versus 66.9mm). Confirm your year before ordering. Compare across the rest of the Chevrolet lineup at our Chevrolet wheels and rims hub.
Why the 2018 Platform Transition Changed the Fitment Window
The 2018 model year was a full redesign for the Traverse. GM moved the Traverse from the older Lambda platform (the 1st gen) to the new C1XX architecture, which is the same crossover platform that underpins the current GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave. The platform change shifted the bolt pattern to 6x120, reduced the hub bore to 66.9mm, and brought new suspension geometry. The aftermarket fitment window changed at the same time. The 1st gen ran 17 to 24 inch wheels with a wider width range (7.5 to 10 inch). The 2nd gen narrowed the width window to 8 to 9 inch, and the 3rd gen has opened it back up to 8 to 10 inch in our measured catalog. Bolt pattern and hub bore stay the same between the 2nd and 3rd gen even though the SUV's exterior was fully redesigned in 2024.
The RS trim on the 2nd gen and the higher-trim 3rd gen Traverse models do not change the bolt-on architecture. Bolt pattern, hub bore, and lug spec are identical across the trims within each generation. The variable is wheel size, since the higher trims ship with larger factory wheels from the dealer (20 inch on RS and Premier trims versus 18 inch on base trims).

How We Confirm Fitment on Chevrolet Traverse Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including all three Traverse generations. For the Traverse that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub protrusion, lug seat depth, and turning clearance with the larger 22 to 24 inch wheel diameters installed on the 3rd gen builds. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Chevrolet Traverse Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Chevrolet Traverse?
It depends on the generation. The 2009-2017 1st gen ran 6x132 with a 74.5mm hub bore on the GM Lambda platform. The 2018-2023 2nd gen and the 2024 and up 3rd gen both run 6x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore on the GM C1XX platform. Lug count is 6 across every generation. The thread pitch is M14x1.5.
Will my 2009-2017 Traverse wheels fit a 2018 or newer Traverse?
No. GM changed both the bolt pattern and the hub bore at the 2018 redesign when the Traverse moved from the Lambda platform to the C1XX platform. The 1st gen runs 6x132 with a 74.5mm hub bore. The 2nd and 3rd gen run 6x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore. The bolt circle difference is 12mm, which is well outside any tolerance a wheel can absorb. Wheels do not cross between the 1st gen and the 2nd or 3rd gen.
Will 2024 and up 3rd gen wheels fit a 2018-2023 2nd gen Traverse?
Bolt pattern matches. The 2nd and 3rd gen Traverse both run 6x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore on the GM C1XX platform. What changes is the fitment window. The 3rd gen allows a wider aftermarket diameter range (up to 24 inch versus 22 inch on the 2nd gen) and a slightly wider width range. A wheel sized for a 2nd gen will fit a 3rd gen, but the larger 23 to 24 inch wheels we publish for the 3rd gen need to be measured against the older suspension and brake setup on the 2nd gen before ordering.
Do GMC Acadia or Buick Enclave wheels fit a Traverse?
Within the same platform era, yes. The Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave share the same GM crossover platform in each year range. The 2009-2017 Lambda-era trio all run 6x132 with a 74.5mm hub bore. The C1XX-era Acadia (2017 and up non-Limited) and Enclave (2018 and up) both moved to 6x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore, matching the 2018 and up Traverse. Wheels generally cross between the three GM crossovers within the same platform generation, with the caveat that brake clearance and offset windows can shift slightly across the three models.
What is the factory wheel size on a Traverse?
Factory wheel size depends on the trim and generation. Base trims typically ship with 17 inch wheels on the 1st gen and 18 inch on the 2nd and 3rd gen. The RS sport trim and higher Premier trims ship with 20 inch wheels from the factory. All trims within each generation use the same bolt pattern and hub bore, so the bolt-on architecture is identical across trims even when the factory wheel diameter differs.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Chevrolet Traverse?
Our measured aftermarket window on the 1st gen and the 3rd gen Traverse tops at 24 inch diameter. The 2nd gen tops at 22 inch. 20 inch is the most common aftermarket upgrade target on every generation. Above 22 inch on the 2nd gen the suspension geometry starts dictating the offset, and we recommend a free fitment consultation before ordering.
Are Chevrolet Traverse wheels staggered?
No. The Traverse runs square (same width front and rear) in every factory configuration we have measured. The aftermarket sticks to square as well, since the Traverse is a family three-row crossover where rotation between front and rear is part of the maintenance routine and a square setup keeps tire rotation simple.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Chevrolet Traverse?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the Traverse's factory hub. The 1st gen hub is 74.5mm. The 2nd and 3rd gen hub is 66.9mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
