The 2nd generation Trax (2024 and up) is an all-new small crossover on the GM VSS-S platform with longer, lower, and wider proportions than the 1st gen. It runs 5x115 with a 70.2mm hub bore. The bolt pattern changed between generations, which means a wheel that fits a 1st gen Trax does not bolt onto a 2nd gen Trax. The Chevrolet Trax Bolt Pattern

The 1st generation Trax (2013-2022) runs 5x105 with a 56.5mm hub bore. The lug count is 5, the thread pitch is 12x1.5, and the lug type is a standard tapered nut. 5x105 is the GM small-car pattern of that era. It is the same lug pattern used on the Chevrolet Bolt, the older Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic, and on European Opel platforms like the Astra J and Insignia A. The pattern is uncommon in the broader North American aftermarket, so the wheel selection for a 1st gen Trax is narrower than on more common patterns like 5x114.3.

The 2nd generation Trax (2024 and up) runs 5x115 with a 70.2mm hub bore. The lug count is 5, the thread pitch is 12x1.5. 5x115 is the standard small GM crossover pattern of the current era, shared with the modern Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Buick Encore GX, both also on the VSS-S unibody platform. The pattern change between generations is real and meaningful. The two never interchange. Five lug studs alone does not identify your Trax. Year and bolt pattern measurement is required. Why the Two Trax Generations Are Different Platforms

The 1st gen Trax (2013-2022) sat on the GM Gamma II platform, a small global front-drive architecture also used by the same-era Buick Encore. It launched in North America for the 2015 model year (Chevrolet had been selling the same vehicle globally since 2013 under the Tracker or Trax name). The original Trax was a subcompact crossover with a higher roofline and a more upright stance. The 1st gen ran a 5x105 bolt pattern with a 56.5mm hub bore, an 12x1.5 thread, and Element measures aftermarket fitment up to 18 inch diameter and 8 inch width on this platform.

For the 2024 model year Chevrolet replaced the 1st gen Trax with an all-new vehicle. The 2nd gen Trax sits on the GM VSS-S unibody platform, the same architecture as the 2021 and up Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Buick Encore GX. The body is longer, lower, and wider than the 1st gen, with a more crossover-coupe look. The bolt pattern changed to 5x115 with a 70.2mm hub bore. Element measures aftermarket fitment up to 22 inch diameter and 9 inch width on the 2nd gen platform, a meaningful expansion over the 1st gen catalog window because the larger crossover body has more wheel well room. The 2023 model year was the gap between the two generations and is not represented in our catalog.
