The GMC Terrain is GM's compact crossover and the GMC-badged sibling of the Chevrolet Equinox. Element Wheels measures the Terrain across two generations. The 1st gen Theta platform (2010-2017) runs 5x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore and M14x1.5 thread pitch. The 2nd gen Terrain (2018 and up) runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore and the same M14x1.5 thread pitch. Both generations split into two factory wheel profiles, a 17 or 18 inch factory profile (SLE / SLT trims with the standard suspension and brake package) and a 19 inch factory profile (Denali and higher trim levels with the larger factory brake setup). The GMC Terrain Bolt Pattern Changed at the 2018 Platform Transition

The 1st gen Theta Terrain (2010-2017) runs 5x120 with a 66.9mm hub bore and M14x1.5 thread pitch. 5x120 is the same 5-lug pattern GM uses on the Chevrolet Equinox of the same Theta generation, the 2nd gen C1XX GMC Acadia, the 2nd gen Chevrolet Traverse, and several modern GM crossovers. Hub bore is 66.9mm on the Theta Terrain. Most Element catalog Terrain wheels for the Theta generation cover 17 to 22 inch diameters with 7.5 to 9 inch widths.

The 2nd gen Terrain (2018 and up) moved to 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. 5x115 is a 5-lug pattern that is distinct from 5x114.3, and it is also the bolt pattern used on the 2018+ Chevrolet Equinox, the Chevrolet Camaro, and several GM cars. 5x115 and 5x114.3 are not interchangeable. The 0.7mm difference is enough to stress the studs and cause hub centering issues, so a wheel listed as 5x114.3 will not safely bolt onto a 2nd gen Terrain. The 2nd gen Terrain hub bore is 70.3mm, larger than the 66.9mm Theta. Thread pitch stays at M14x1.5 across both generations. Element catalog 2nd gen Terrain coverage is 17 to 20 inch diameters with 7.5 to 8.5 inch widths.

Terrain vs Equinox, Denali Trim, and the Factory Wheel Splits

The GMC Terrain and the Chevrolet Equinox share platforms across both generations. The Theta Terrain (2010-2017) and Theta Equinox (2010-2017) run 5x120 with the 66.9mm hub bore. The 2nd gen Terrain (2018+) and 2nd gen Equinox (2018+) moved to 5x115 with the 70.3mm hub bore. Same bolt pattern, same hub bore, same thread pitch within each generation. Wheels measured against the Equinox can cross to the Terrain of the same generation, but always confirm the listing was tested on both vehicles before ordering. Width and offset windows are measured per body, not assumed from a sibling platform.

Within each generation, GMC sold the Terrain with two different factory wheel profiles. The base SLE and SLT trims came on a 17 or 18 inch factory wheel with the standard brake package. The Denali and higher trims came on a 19 inch factory wheel with a larger brake package and a slightly taller caliper. The fitment box does not change between the two factory profiles, but the larger caliper on the 19 inch factory cars tightens up the inside-of-wheel clearance, so wheels in the bottom of the diameter window need confirmation on Denali trims. The Denali itself is a trim package, not a platform change. Same bolt pattern, same hub bore, same suspension geometry as SLE and SLT. The AT4 trim on the 2nd gen Terrain is also a trim package, not a platform change.

How We Confirm Fitment on GMC Terrain Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both Terrain generations. For the Terrain that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the front strut, brake caliper height across both the standard 17 or 18 inch factory package and the larger 19 inch factory package, hub protrusion and bore confirmation across the 66.9mm Theta hub and the 70.3mm 2nd gen hub, lug seat geometry on the 14x1.5 thread, and turning clearance at full lock on the larger diameters. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

That measurement work is why the catalog splits the Terrain into four separate fitment rows (1st gen 17 or 18 inch, 1st gen 19 inch, 2nd gen 17 or 18 inch, 2nd gen 19 inch) instead of one.
