GMC Yukon Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The GMC Yukon is GM's full-size body-on-frame SUV and the GMC-badged version of the same chassis that underpins the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and the Cadillac Escalade. It is one of the highest volume aftermarket wheel platforms in our catalog. Every 4WD Yukon and Yukon XL from 1992 forward runs 6x139.7 (6x5.5) with a 78.1mm hub bore. The 1992-1999 2WD Yukon is the one exception: those ran a 5x127 5-lug pattern. The heavier Yukon 2500 runs an 8x165 (8x6.5) heavy-duty pattern that does not cross to the half-ton trucks. Element Wheels tracks Yukon fitment by generation across the GMT400, GMT800, GMT900, K2, and T1 platforms, separates stock height from all lifted fitments, and breaks Yukon XL out from the regular wheelbase Yukon on every generation. Find your generation below.

Find Your GMC Yukon Generation

Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Yukon. The bolt pattern has been 6x139.7 on every 4WD Yukon since 1992. What changes between generations is the brake package, the factory offset window, and the room each truck has for larger diameters at stock height. Lifted fitments tracked separately on every generation.

The GMC Yukon Bolt Pattern

Every 4WD Yukon and Yukon XL from 1992 forward runs 6x139.7 (also called 6x5.5) with a 78.1mm hub bore. The 1992-1999 2WD Yukon is the only exception: those ran a 5x127 5-lug pattern (the older half-ton GM pattern). The Yukon 2500 (2000-2006) runs an 8x165 (8x6.5) heavy-duty pattern that does not cross to any half-ton Yukon. Count the lug studs first. 6 studs means a 1500 Yukon or Yukon XL. 8 studs means a Yukon 2500. 5 studs means a 1992-1999 2WD truck.

The Yukon is the GMC-badged version of the GM full-size SUV chassis it shares with the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV. Within the same generation, those vehicles are the same chassis under different badges. The bolt pattern (6x139.7), hub bore (78.1mm), and brake setup are largely shared, which means the fitment window we measure on a Tahoe of the same year is the starting point for Yukon recommendations. Yukon XL and Suburban share the long-wheelbase version of that same chassis. Compare across the rest of the GMC lineup at our GMC wheels and rims hub.

Why 2021 and Up Yukon Fitment Needs Extra Verification

The Yukon has a wide aftermarket buyer base. Stock-height owners run 22 to 26 inch wheels for the street and luxury-SUV look. Lifted owners run wider, more aggressive fitments on 33 to 35 inch tires for off-road and overland builds. Element measures these cases separately on every generation. The wheel that fits a stock-height Yukon can rub a fender or contact a suspension component once the truck is lifted, and the wider lifted-fitment wheels often poke past the fender on a stock-height truck.

One Yukon-specific detail on the current platform. The 2021 and newer T1 platform Yukon and Yukon XL came with significantly larger brakes than the K2 trucks before it. The factory wheel size and offset window changed to accommodate the bigger brake package, and our catalog flags this generation for fitment verification before sale. There is also rear axle shaft protrusion on these trucks that affects centerbore clearance on some wheel designs. We measure both directly on the truck and call out the verification step in the catalog notes. This is the kind of detail generic spec calculators do not catch.

How We Confirm Fitment on GMC Yukon Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every Yukon generation back to 1992. For the Yukon that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height (especially on the 2021 and up oversized brakes), hub protrusion, lug seat depth, and rear axle shaft clearance on the T1 platform. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Element Wheels measured aftermarket fitment, GMC Yukon

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Yukon generations:

  • GMT400 4WD (1992-1999): 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 15-24 inch stock height, up to 26 inch lifted. Element aftermarket width range: 7-10.5 inch stock, 9-16 inch lifted. The 2WD truck of this era ran 5x127 instead and is treated as its own platform.
  • GMT800 (2000-2006): 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-26 inch (Yukon) / 16-26 inch (Yukon XL). Element aftermarket width range: 7-10.5 inch stock, 9-16 inch lifted. Yukon 2500 of this era runs 8x165 (8x6.5) with 116.7mm hub bore.
  • GMT900 (2007-2014): 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16-26 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 7-10.5 inch stock, 9-16 inch lifted. Yukon XL tracked separately.
  • K2 Platform (2015-2020): 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-26 inch on all models including Yukon XL. Element aftermarket width range: 7-10.5 inch.
  • T1 Platform (2021 and up): 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 18-26 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 8.5-10.5 inch. Oversized factory brakes require fitment verification before sale, and rear axle shaft protrusion affects centerbore clearance on some wheel designs.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Yukon (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the Yukon wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation, especially on 2021 and newer trucks.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

GMC Yukon Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a GMC Yukon?

Every 4WD Yukon and Yukon XL from 1992 forward runs 6x139.7 (6x5.5) with a 78.1mm hub bore. The 1992-1999 2WD Yukon is the only exception and ran a 5x127 5-lug pattern. The Yukon 2500 (2000-2006) runs an 8x165 (8x6.5) heavy-duty pattern. Count the lug studs first. 6 lug means 1500 Yukon. 8 lug means Yukon 2500. 5 lug on a GMT400 means a 2WD truck.

Do Yukon wheels fit a Tahoe or Suburban or Escalade?

Within the same generation, generally yes. The Yukon is the GMC-badged version of GM's full-size SUV chassis that also underpins the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and the Cadillac Escalade. The half-ton trucks share 6x139.7 / 78.1mm CB and similar brake setups, so wheels are largely cross-shoppable across those siblings within the same era. Use the Year/Make/Model search to confirm the wheel was fit-tested on the Yukon specifically, because the brake package and stock-vs-lifted status still need to match.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a GMC Yukon?

Our measured Element aftermarket window tops at 26 inch on every 6-lug Yukon generation since 2000. 22 inch is the most common stock-height aftermarket choice. 24 inch is popular on leveled and lightly lifted trucks. 26 inch fits with the right offset and tire size. On the 2021 and up T1 platform truck, the oversized factory brakes can limit smaller diameters and shift the offset window, so verify before ordering.

Are GMC Yukon wheels staggered?

No. The Yukon runs a square (non-staggered) fitment from the factory and almost every aftermarket build also runs square. The four wheel drive system, the load distribution, and tire wear on a full-size body-on-frame SUV all benefit from the same wheel and tire size on every corner.

Will Yukon XL wheels fit a Yukon?

Within the same generation, generally yes. Yukon and Yukon XL share the 6x139.7 / 78.1mm CB pattern and the same front suspension and brake setup. The XL is the long-wheelbase version of the same chassis. Fitments are very close between the two, with the rear track and rear axle being the only meaningful differences. Use the Year/Make/Model search to find wheels that fit your exact model.

Why do 2021 and newer Yukons need extra fitment verification?

The 2021 and newer T1 platform Yukon came with significantly larger brakes than the K2 trucks before it. The bigger brake package raises the minimum diameter and shifts the offset window. The same trucks also have rear axle shaft protrusion that can interfere with the centerbore on some wheel designs. Our catalog flags this generation for fitment verification before sale. Use our Year/Make/Model search and contact our team if you are on a 2021 or newer Yukon before ordering.

Do I need hub centric rings on a GMC Yukon?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 78.1mm on a 1500 Yukon (or 116.7mm on a Yukon 2500). If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific GMC Yukon build?

Three steps. Confirm your generation (GMT400, GMT800, GMT900, K2, or T1) by year and confirm whether you have a regular wheelbase Yukon, Yukon XL, or Yukon 2500. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific truck (each listing shows its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If your truck is on the 2021 and up T1 platform, lifted, or running 33 inch and larger tires, contact our team for a free fitment consultation before ordering. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
