Honda Passport Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Honda Passport is two entirely different vehicles that happen to share a name. The original Passport (1994-2002) was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo built on Isuzu's body-on-frame mid-size SUV chassis. The modern Passport (2019 and up) is a Honda-engineered mid-size unibody SUV built on the Pilot platform, with the TrailSport off-road trim available from the 2022 model year forward. The two vehicles share nothing mechanically. They use different bolt patterns, different hub bores, different lug threads, and entirely different chassis. The original 1994-2002 Passport runs a 6-lug 6x139.7 bolt pattern with a 108mm hub bore, the same pattern used by Isuzu trucks of that era. The modern 2019-and-up Passport runs the 5-lug 5x120 bolt pattern with a 64.1mm hub bore, the same spec used by the modern Pilot and Ridgeline. There was a 16-year gap in production from 2003 through 2018, after which Honda revived the Passport name on the new platform. The first thing to confirm is which Passport you own. 1994-2002 is the original Isuzu-built Passport with a 6-lug 6x139.7 bolt pattern. 2019 and up is the modern Pilot-based Passport with a 5-lug 5x120 bolt pattern. The Honda Passport Bolt Pattern (Two Entirely Different Vehicles)

The Passport bolt pattern depends on which Passport you own. The original 1st gen Passport (1994-2002) was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo. Honda did not build it. Isuzu did, on Isuzu's body-on-frame mid-size SUV chassis at Isuzu's Lafayette, Indiana plant. The bolt pattern reflects that: 6x139.7 with a 108mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lug nuts. The 6x139.7 pattern carries the 6x5.5 imperial nickname (139.7mm equals 5.5 inches). It is the same bolt pattern used on the Isuzu Rodeo, Isuzu Trooper of that era, Chevrolet Tracker, and a wide range of mid-size pickup trucks and body-on-frame SUVs from the 1990s and early 2000s.

The modern 2nd gen Passport (2019 and up) is an entirely different vehicle. After a 16-year gap from 2003 through 2018, Honda revived the Passport nameplate on a shortened version of the 3rd gen Pilot platform, as a unibody 5-passenger mid-size SUV. The bolt pattern reflects the Pilot platform: 5x120 with a 64.1mm hub bore and M14x1.5 lug nuts. This is the same spec used on the modern Honda Pilot (2009 and up), the Honda Ridgeline, and the modern Honda Odyssey (2005 and up). The TrailSport trim launched on the 2022 model year as the off-road oriented variant within the 2nd gen lineup, with all-terrain tires and unique styling from the factory. The TrailSport runs the same 5x120 / 64.1mm bolt pattern as the rest of the 2nd gen Passport lineup. Trim level does not change the hub spec.

The result is that no wheel from a 1st gen Passport (6x139.7) fits a 2nd gen Passport (5x120). The lug count alone (6 versus 5) tells you the two are incompatible. Compare against the rest of the Honda lineup at our Honda wheels and rims hub.

Why the Two Passports Need Different Wheels

The original 1994-2002 Passport was a truck-based body-on-frame SUV with a solid rear axle, two-speed transfer case, and serious off-road geometry from the Isuzu Rodeo donor. Wheel choices for the original Passport sit in the 16 to 22 inch diameter range, with 6.5 to 9 inch widths, and offset windows match the Isuzu light-truck platform. The vast majority of original Passport owners stay in the 16 to 18 inch range with an all-terrain tire choice, because that is what the chassis was built around.

The modern 2019-and-up Passport is a Honda unibody mid-size SUV sharing the Pilot's platform. It is a road-oriented vehicle with an all wheel drive system, lower ride height, and a wheel diameter range starting at 20 inch from the factory. Element's measured aftermarket window for the 2nd gen Passport runs from 20 to 22 inch in diameter, with 8 to 9.5 inch widths. The Overland Fitment variant (the same 2nd gen Passport with a 2 to 3 inch suspension lift kit) carries a separate window: 18 to 20 inch diameter, with 8 to 8.5 inch widths. The lift kit changes the geometry enough that a separate fitment measurement is warranted.

Both Passport generations are square (non-staggered) in factory fitment and that is what we recommend in the aftermarket. The same wheel and tire spec belongs on every corner. The 2nd gen Passport's all wheel drive system also benefits from matching tire diameter front and rear for the AWD coupling to operate normally.

How We Confirm Fitment on Honda Passport Wheels

For the 1st gen Passport (1994-2002) that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on the Isuzu Rodeo body, gap between the back of the wheel and the solid rear axle and suspension, brake clearance for the truck-based brake package, hub bore confirmation at 108mm, and lug seat geometry for M12x1.5 nuts. For the 2nd gen Passport (2019 and up) we measure the unibody Pilot-platform body, the lower-ride-height fender geometry, brake clearance on the road-oriented brake package, hub bore confirmation at 64.1mm, lug seat for M14x1.5 nuts, and the separate Overland Fitment window when a 2 to 3 inch lift kit changes the suspension geometry.
