The Honda Pilot is Honda's three-row mid-size crossover SUV, in production since 2003 and continuing through the current 4th generation. The Pilot shares Honda's global light-truck platform with the Acura MDX across most of its history, so the bolt pattern history tracks the same chassis transitions you see on the MDX. The 1st gen Pilot (YF1, 2003-2008) ran 5x114.3 with a 64.1mm hub bore. From the 2nd gen forward (YF3, YF6, and the current YF8), Honda moved the Pilot to 5x120 and held it there. Hub bore stayed 64.1mm across every Pilot generation. The 4th gen TrailSport (2023 and up) is the off-road variant within the current Pilot lineup, with all-terrain wheels and tires from the factory. The Honda Pilot Bolt Pattern Changes Once

The Pilot has one bolt pattern transition in its history. The 1st gen Pilot (2003-2008) ran 5x114.3 with a 64.1mm hub bore. When Honda moved the Pilot onto a new light-truck platform for the 2009 model year, the bolt pattern moved to 5x120 with the same 64.1mm hub bore. Every Pilot from 2009 forward has stayed on 5x120 / 64.1mm: 2nd gen early, 2nd gen late, 3rd gen, and the current 4th gen. The transition matters because customers cross-shopping wheels by Honda nameplate often assume the Pilot stays on the Honda 5x114.3 family used on the Civic, Accord, and CR-V. It does not. The Pilot (2009 and up) is 5x120, the same pattern used on the modern Acura MDX.

The 64.1mm hub bore is uniform on every Pilot generation. A wheel from a 2007 Pilot (5x114.3) does not bolt onto a 2010 Pilot (5x120) and vice versa. The detail that helps: 5x114.3 carries the 5x4.5 imperial nickname because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches. 5x120 has no imperial nickname; it stays 5x120. If your wheel listing says 5x4.5, the wheel is 5x114.3 and is incompatible with any Pilot from 2009 forward.

The TrailSport, Overland Lift, and Pilot Fitment Variants

The 4th gen Pilot (2023 and up) added the TrailSport variant as Honda's off-road sub-trim. The TrailSport ships with 18 inch all-terrain wheels and tires, a softer suspension tune, and skid plates. The bolt pattern and hub bore on the TrailSport are identical to the rest of the 4th gen Pilot lineup (5x120 / 64.1mm). The aftermarket fitment window is the same as the base 4th gen Pilot. What changes on a TrailSport is the customer choice: TrailSport buyers usually stay at 18 inch for tire sidewall and clearance instead of moving up to 20 inch street wheels.

On the 3rd gen Pilot (2016-2022), Element measures a separate Overland Fitment for builds running a 2 to 3 inch lift kit. The lifted stance opens up additional fender clearance and changes the offset window. If your 3rd gen Pilot is on a leveling kit or small lift in that 2 to 3 inch range, the Overland row applies. A 4 inch and up lift moves outside the published window and a free fitment consultation is the right call.
