Hyundai Ioniq Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Hyundai Ioniq is the compact hatchback Hyundai sold in North America from the 2017 model year through 2022. The original Ioniq was built on the Hyundai AE platform and came in three electrified powertrains: the Ioniq Hybrid, the Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid, and the Ioniq Electric. All three trims share the same chassis, the same body, and the same wheel hub spec. Hyundai discontinued the original Ioniq after the 2022 model year, so the lineup is now a closed historical range. This hub covers the original Ioniq only. The newer Ioniq 5 (2022 and up) and Ioniq 6 (2023 and up) are separate cars on Hyundai's E-GMP electric platform with their own hubs in our catalog. The original Ioniq uses 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lug nuts, the standard hub spec across the modern Hyundai Motor Group passenger lineup. Pick the AE-platform Ioniq below for the fitment specs. Compare across the rest of the Hyundai lineup at our Hyundai wheels and rims hub.

Find Your Hyundai Ioniq Generation

The original Hyundai Ioniq was one generation only: the AE platform, sold from 2017 through 2022 across three powertrain trims (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Electric). All three trims share the chassis spec, so the entire AE-platform Ioniq goes under one fitment row in our catalog. If you have an Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6, those are separate cars on the E-GMP platform with their own catalog rows. The card below links to the AE-platform Ioniq fitment.

Looking for an Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6? Those are separate E-GMP cars with their own fitment specs. Browse the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Hyundai Ioniq 6 pages directly.

The Hyundai Ioniq Bolt Pattern

Every original Hyundai Ioniq (AE platform, 2017-2022) runs 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lug nuts. The imperial nickname for 5x114.3 is 5x4.5 because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly. The hub spec is the same across all three powertrain trims (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, Electric). The wheel hardware is the same on every Ioniq trim.

One detail that catches buyers: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as the 5x115 pattern used on some American sedans (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, Dodge Challenger). The two patterns sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers ONLY to 5x114.3 because 114.3mm equals exactly 4.5 inches. Stick to 5x114.3 / 5x4.5 specifically on an Ioniq.

The 5x114.3 / 67.1mm spec on the Ioniq matches the rest of the modern Hyundai Motor Group passenger lineup (Elantra, Sonata, Kona, Veloster) and the modern Kia compact and mid-size sedans (Forte, K5). The wheels bolt to the same hub. Body proportion and brake clearance do not always cross between models, but the bolt pattern is consistent. Note that the newer Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 on the E-GMP electric platform also share this 5x114.3 / 67.1mm bolt pattern, but the diameter window, width window, and offset window are different because the E-GMP cars are larger and heavier with bigger brakes.

Why the Original Ioniq Is a Different Car From the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6

The Hyundai Ioniq nameplate covers two different generations of cars on two different platforms, and the second is much bigger than the first. The original Ioniq (this hub) is a compact 4-door hatchback on the Hyundai AE platform, sold 2017 through 2022. It was Hyundai's first dedicated electrified vehicle platform and came in three powertrain trims (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Electric) sharing one chassis. The Ioniq 5 (2022 and up) is a mid-size electric crossover on the new E-GMP platform with its own chassis. The Ioniq 6 (2023 and up) is a mid-size electric sedan also on E-GMP. The Ioniq 5 N (2024 and up) is the high-performance Ioniq 5 with a larger brake package. The Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Ioniq 5 N are not the same car as the original Ioniq, and the fitment is different.

Bolt pattern is one of the few specs that does cross between the original Ioniq and the Ioniq 5 / Ioniq 6 (all 5x114.3 / 67.1mm). What does not cross is the diameter window, the width window, the offset window, the brake clearance, and the curb weight. The original AE-platform Ioniq is a much smaller and lighter car than the E-GMP Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6. If you came to this page looking for an Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6 fitment, go to the Hyundai hub and pick the right car.

How We Confirm Fitment on Hyundai Ioniq Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the original AE-platform Hyundai Ioniq. For this car that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation to the 67.1mm Hyundai hub, lug seat geometry for M12x1.5 nuts, turning clearance at full lock, and the curb-weight load the wheel has to carry on the Plug-in Hybrid and Electric trims (which are heavier than the Hybrid because of the larger battery pack). At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Hyundai Ioniq Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Hyundai Ioniq?

Every original Hyundai Ioniq (AE platform, 2017-2022), Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid and Electric, runs 5x114.3 with M12x1.5 lug nuts and a 67.1mm hub bore. The imperial nickname for 5x114.3 is 5x4.5 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). The pattern is shared with most of the modern Hyundai Motor Group passenger lineup including the Elantra, Sonata, Kona, and Veloster.

Is the original Ioniq the same as the Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6?

No. The original Ioniq (this hub) is a compact 4-door hatchback on the Hyundai AE platform, sold 2017 through 2022. The Ioniq 5 (2022 and up) and Ioniq 6 (2023 and up) are separate cars on Hyundai's E-GMP electric platform. The Ioniq 5 is a mid-size electric crossover. The Ioniq 6 is a mid-size electric sedan. Bolt pattern crosses (all 5x114.3 / 67.1mm) but the diameter window, width window, brake clearance, and curb weight do not. The Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 have their own catalog rows and their own fitment specs.

Is the original Ioniq still in production?

No. Hyundai discontinued the original AE-platform Ioniq after the 2022 model year. The lineup is now a closed historical range of 2017-2022 model years across three powertrain trims. Hyundai shifted the Ioniq name into a sub-brand for its E-GMP electric cars (Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6) after the original Ioniq was retired.

Do the Ioniq Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Electric trims take the same wheels?

Yes. All three trims of the original AE-platform Ioniq share the same chassis, the same hub spec (5x114.3 / 67.1mm / M12x1.5), and the same standard brake package. The Plug-in Hybrid and Electric trims carry a larger battery, so curb weight is heavier than the Hybrid, and the wheel has to be load-rated to handle that. Element's measured fitment row covers all three trims under one catalog entry.

Is 5x114.3 the same as 5x4.5 and 5x115?

5x114.3 and 5x4.5 are the same bolt pattern (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches), and the Ioniq is 5x114.3 / 5x4.5. 5x115 is a different and separate pattern. The two sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are NOT interchangeable. Wheels designed for 5x115 (Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, Dodge Challenger) will not fit an Ioniq. Stick to 5x114.3 / 5x4.5 specifically.

Are Hyundai Ioniq wheels staggered?

No. The original Hyundai Ioniq runs square (non-staggered) fitment from the factory across every powertrain trim, and that is what we recommend in the aftermarket. The Ioniq is a FWD platform, so the front axle carries the power and the rear is along for the ride. The same wheel spec belongs front and rear on every Ioniq trim.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Hyundai Ioniq?

19 inch is the top of our measured aftermarket window on the original Hyundai Ioniq. 17 and 18 inch are the most common aftermarket picks because the Ioniq is a compact efficiency-oriented car and the sidewall stays in a comfortable range at those sizes. Above 19 inch, the tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops and the load rating becomes harder to meet on the heavier PHEV and Electric trims.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Hyundai Ioniq?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 67.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
