The 2nd generation QX50 (2019 and up) is a clean-sheet all-new model on a transverse engine front-drive-based architecture, with optional AWD. Same nameplate, very different chassis. The QX50 Bolt Pattern and Why Two Generations Share One Hub

Every Infiniti QX50, 1st generation and 2nd generation, runs the 5x114.3 bolt pattern, also called 5x4.5 imperial (114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly), with a 66.1mm factory hub bore and 12x1.25 lug thread. The pattern is consistent across both generations of the QX50 nameplate. A wheel built for one QX50 will bolt onto the other at the lug-hole level. That is where the cross-generation similarity ends. The 1st gen J50 (2014-2018) is on the rear-drive Nissan FM platform, the same architecture used under the Nissan 350Z and 370Z and the Infiniti G and FX line. The 2nd gen QX50 (2019 and up) is on a clean-sheet transverse engine front-drive-based platform, with optional AWD. Track widths, ride heights, and fender profiles are completely different between the two cars. We measure each generation on its own chassis.

A cross-pattern caution that applies to every 5x114.3 platform: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as the 5x115 pattern used on Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, and similar American sedans. The two patterns sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable, even though the difference sounds tiny. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers only to 5x114.3 (because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly). Calling 5x115 "5x4.5" is wrong and forcing a 5x115 wheel onto a 5x114.3 hub puts the stud loading off-center, which is a safety issue. Stick to wheels listed for 5x114.3 specifically.

Why Each QX50 Generation Has Its Own Measured Window

The 1st gen J50 (2014-2018) is the renamed EX35 and inherits the same FM platform architecture. It is the compact luxury crossover sized below the FX/QX70. Wheels on the 1st gen J50 measure within the same window as a 2008-2012 EX35, since the chassis is the same. The 2nd gen QX50 (2019 and up) is a different car entirely. The transverse-engine front-drive-based architecture moves the engine from a longitudinal rear-drive layout to a transverse front-drive layout, with AWD as an option. The fender openings, the suspension geometry, the brake calipers, and the available factory wheel sizes all changed. The 2nd gen ships from the factory at 19 inch on base trims and up to 20 inch on Sport / Sensory, where the 1st gen shipped at 18 inch.

Both generations are non-staggered, square setups. The 1st gen J50 is AWD-capable on the FM platform (RWD base, AWD optional) and the 2nd gen is FF-based with optional AWD. Either way, square setups are the right call on AWD-capable crossovers, because uneven rolling diameter from a wider rear puts strain on the AWD system.

How We Confirm Fitment on Infiniti QX50 Wheels

For the QX50 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper clearance, hub bore confirmation on the 66.1mm spec, lug stud thread on the 12x1.25 spec, and turning clearance at full lock. The two generations are very different cars so we measure each one on its own chassis.
