Jaguar X-Type Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Jaguar X-Type is Jaguar's compact executive sedan, in production from the 2002 through the 2008 model year. The X-Type was built on the Ford CD132 platform, the same architecture as the contemporaneous Mk3 Ford Mondeo. That makes the X-Type the odd one out in the Jaguar sedan lineup of its era: where the XJ, XF, and S-Type were all longitudinal-engine rear-wheel-drive sedans, the X-Type ran a transverse-engine front-wheel-drive layout with an optional Jaguar Traction all-wheel-drive system. Across the production run, our catalog locks the X-Type on a 5x108 bolt pattern (also called 5x4.25 inch, because 108mm equals 4.25 inch) with a 63.4mm hub bore. The 5x108 pattern is the standard Jaguar and Land Rover spec of this era and is shared across the Jaguar XE, XF, XJ (2004 and up), XK, F-Type, S-Type, F-Pace, E-Pace, and the Range Rover Evoque, Velar, and Discovery Sport. Every X-Type in our catalog runs square fitment (same width and offset front and rear), and the AWD and FWD versions share the same wheel spec. The X-Type's aftermarket offset window is also notably wider than other Jaguar sedans of the era, reflecting the CD132 platform's tolerance. Compare across the rest of the Jaguar lineup at our Jaguar wheels and rims hub.
Find Your Jaguar X-Type
The X-Type was produced across a single generation (2002-2008) with one fitment family covering every trim and both drivetrain options. Bolt pattern (5x108), hub bore (63.4mm), and lug hardware (M12x1.5 lug nuts) are constant. The AWD and FWD cars share the same wheel spec. Drivetrain is not a fitment-box axis on the X-Type. Pick the year range to see the wheels and rims that fit.
The Jaguar X-Type Bolt Pattern
Every Jaguar X-Type we measure uses a 5x108 bolt pattern (also called 5x4.25 inch, because 108mm equals 4.25 inch) with a 63.4mm hub bore. That covers the entire production run from 2002 through 2008 across every trim (3.0 V6, 2.5 V6, 2.1 V6, diesel variants) and both drivetrain options (FWD and AWD). Lug count is five and the thread pitch is M12x1.5 lug nuts. The 5x108 pattern is the standard Jaguar and Land Rover spec of this era and is shared with the Jaguar XE, XF, XJ (2004 and up), XK, F-Type, S-Type, F-Pace, E-Pace, and the Range Rover Evoque, Velar, and Discovery Sport. The 63.4mm hub bore is also Jaguar specific. A wheel built for an XF or an S-Type at 5x108 / 63.4mm has the right bolt math to mount on an X-Type, but the offset window is different car by car. We measure X-Type fitments separately even when the pattern matches another Jaguar.
The X-Type was built on the Ford CD132 platform, the same architecture as the Mk3 Ford Mondeo. The Mondeo uses a different wheel spec from the Jaguar, so wheels do not cross between the two cars despite the shared chassis. The X-Type's wheel spec is Jaguar's own, not Ford's, even though the underlying suspension geometry and floor pan came from the Mondeo program. The Mondeo's bolt pattern is a different 5-lug pattern, and the hub bore is also different. The CD132 platform kinship does not extend to the wheel spec.
Why AWD and FWD X-Types Share the Same Wheel Spec
The X-Type was offered with two drivetrain options across most of its production. The 3.0 V6 cars came with Jaguar's Traction all-wheel-drive system from launch. The 2.5 V6 (in some markets) and the later 2.1 V6 cars were front-wheel-drive. Despite the drivetrain split, our catalog locks both the AWD and FWD X-Type on the same wheel spec: 5x108 bolt pattern, 63.4mm hub bore, 16 to 19 inch diameter, 7 to 9 inch width front and rear, square fitment. Drivetrain is not a fitment-box axis on the X-Type. The hub, bolt pattern, brake clearance, and fender geometry are the same on both cars.
Every X-Type in our catalog runs square fitment. Same width front and rear, same offset front and rear. There is no factory-supported staggered configuration on the X-Type, and the FWD layout (rear axle does not transfer power) means staggered geometry would have no performance benefit. The aftermarket offset window on the X-Type is also notably wider than on the rear-drive Jaguar sedans of the era. The CD132 platform was engineered with more tolerance in the front-axle geometry, which gives the aftermarket fitment box more room than the tighter-tolerance rear-drive cars on the same Jaguar bolt pattern. The brake package on the X-Type is the standard configuration (no Brembo step-up option was offered), and the front brake is the same size as the rear in our catalog.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Jaguar X-Type
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the X-Type lineup:
- X-Type, AWD and FWD (2002-2008): 5x108 bolt pattern, 63.4mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug nuts. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 19 inch. Aftermarket width: 7 to 9 inch front and rear (square fitment). Standard brake package across every trim, front brake the same size as rear. AWD and FWD share the same wheel spec.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific X-Type (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the X-Type wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Jaguar X-Type Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the X-Type directly across both drivetrain configurations. For the X-Type that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on both axles, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation to the 63.4mm Jaguar hub, and lug nut seat depth on the aftermarket wheel against the M12x1.5 Jaguar sedan hardware. We confirm the square front-to-rear offset and width relationship that holds across the AWD and FWD versions. Because the X-Type's aftermarket offset window is wider than on the rear-drive Jaguars, we also flag where the wider range still bumps into brake or fender constraints. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Jaguar X-Type Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Jaguar X-Type?
Every Jaguar X-Type from 2002 through 2008 uses 5x108 (also called 5x4.25 inch, because 108mm equals 4.25 inch) with a 63.4mm hub bore. Lug count is five and thread pitch is M12x1.5 lug nuts. That covers both the AWD and FWD versions and every engine trim. The 5x108 pattern is shared with the Jaguar XE, XF, XJ (2004 and up), XK, F-Type, S-Type, F-Pace, E-Pace, and the Range Rover Evoque, Velar, and Discovery Sport.
Do AWD and FWD X-Types use the same wheels?
Yes. Drivetrain is not a fitment-box axis on the X-Type. The 3.0 V6 AWD car and the FWD 2.5 V6 and 2.1 V6 cars share the same bolt pattern, hub bore, lug hardware, diameter window, width window, and brake clearance. The hub, fender geometry, and suspension hard points are the same on both. If a wheel fits a FWD X-Type, it fits an AWD X-Type, and the other way around.
Will X-Type wheels fit an XF or an XJ?
The bolt math matches. The X-Type, the 2004-and-up XJ, the XF, the S-Type, and the F-Type all run 5x108 with a 63.4mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lug nuts. What changes between these cars is the offset window and the brake clearance window. An X-Type wheel will physically mount on an XF or an XJ, but it may not sit at the right depth in the fender. The X-Type's diameter ceiling is also lower (19 inch) than the rear-drive Jaguars (up to 22 inch on the XF and XJ). We measure each platform separately and recommend confirming offset before swapping wheels between Jaguar platforms.
Will Ford Mondeo wheels fit a Jaguar X-Type?
No. The X-Type and the Mk3 Ford Mondeo share the same CD132 platform (suspension geometry, floor pan, engineering basis), but Jaguar specified its own wheel spec for the X-Type. The Mondeo uses a different 5-lug bolt pattern and a different hub bore. Wheels do not cross between the two cars despite the shared chassis. This is a common cross-shop assumption customers make on this platform, and it is wrong.
Are X-Type wheels staggered?
No. Every X-Type in our catalog runs square fitment. Same width front and rear, same offset front and rear. There is no factory-supported staggered configuration on the X-Type, and on the FWD cars the rear axle does not transfer power so staggered geometry would have no performance benefit. Our measured aftermarket width window is 7 to 9 inch front and rear.
What is the hub bore on a Jaguar X-Type?
Every Jaguar X-Type uses a 63.4mm hub bore. This is the standard Jaguar hub spec for this era and the same hub bore Jaguar uses across the modern lineup including the XE, XF, XJ (2004 and up), XK, F-Type, S-Type, F-Pace, and E-Pace. Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 63.4mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
Lug bolts or lug nuts on the X-Type?
Lug nuts on the X-Type, M12x1.5 thread pitch with a conical seat. The wheel locates on the studs before the nuts go on, which simplifies mounting compared to the lug bolt convention used on many later Jaguar models. Aftermarket conical-seat lug nuts compatible with M12x1.5 thread pitch work on the X-Type.
What size wheels come on a Jaguar X-Type from the factory?
Factory wheels on the X-Type range from 16 inch on the entry trims up through 18 inch on the higher specs. Element aftermarket diameter is 16 to 19 inch across the full lineup. See the measured fitment box above for the per-trim windows.
Get Jaguar X-Type Wheels Right the First Time
Pick your year above to see wheels and rims that fit. We measure on the X-Type directly across both the AWD and FWD versions, confirm the square front-to-rear relationship, and check lug nut seat depth against the M12x1.5 Jaguar sedan hardware. The X-Type's wider aftermarket offset window gives you more room to work with than the rear-drive Jaguars of the era. Find your fit and start enjoying your build sooner.
