Jeep Liberty Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Jeep Liberty is Chrysler's compact body on frame SUV, produced from 2002 through 2012 in two distinct generations. The KJ Liberty (2002-2007) was the original boxy Liberty with the round headlights and the Renegade off-road trim. The KK Liberty (2008-2012) was the squared off second generation, sold alongside the Dodge Nitro out of the same Toledo plant on the same chassis. Both Liberty generations use the same wheel fitment box: 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 71.5mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug nuts, and 5 lugs. Square fitment (same width front and rear). Drivetrain (rear wheel drive or four wheel drive) does not change the bolt math. Trim (Sport, Limited, Renegade, Jet, Latitude, Arctic) does not change the bolt math. The Liberty is one of the cleaner fitment hubs in the early 2000s Jeep lineup. Pick your generation below.

Find Your Jeep Liberty Generation

Pick your generation to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Liberty. The KJ and the KK share the 5x114.3 / 71.5mm bolt pattern and hub bore, but the body styling, the brake assembly options, and the fender geometry change between them, so the catalog tracks them as separate fitment leaves. The KJ is the rounder original (2002-2007) with the Renegade trim. The KK is the boxier second generation (2008-2012), the Dodge Nitro's twin out of the Toledo plant.

The Jeep Liberty Bolt Pattern

Every Jeep Liberty (2002-2012, KJ and KK) uses a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 71.5mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug nuts, and 5 lugs. Nut seat (not bolt seat). Square fitment, same width front and rear. The KJ and the KK do not differ on the bolt math. Drivetrain (rear wheel drive or four wheel drive) does not change the bolt math. Trim (Sport through Renegade) does not change the bolt math. The Liberty is a one specification hub from 2002 to 2012.

The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers to 5x114.3 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inches). Same pattern, two naming conventions. The Liberty shares this 5x114.3 / 71.5mm hub family with the Jeep Wrangler JK (2007-2018), the Jeep Cherokee XJ (1986-2002), and the Dodge Nitro (2007-2011, which is the KK Liberty's mechanical twin out of the same Toledo plant). Important safety note: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as 5x115. The two patterns are separated by 0.7mm and the studs do not line up cleanly. A wheel built for a 5x115 Dodge Charger or Challenger will not bolt safely to a Liberty. Compare across the rest of the Jeep lineup at our Jeep wheels and rims hub.

KJ vs KK Liberty, and the Renegade Trim

The KJ Liberty (2002-2007) is the original. Round headlights, more rounded body, Sport and Limited as the volume trims, and the Renegade as the off-road appearance trim with a deeper factory offset, fender flares, and a brush guard. Stock wheels on the KJ were 16 to 17 inch depending on trim, with the Renegade getting its own 16 inch alloy. The KJ Renegade is the Liberty trim most likely to come in with aftermarket builds because the factory offset already pushed the wheel out closer to the fender, so the aftermarket math starts a step ahead.

The KK Liberty (2008-2012) is the second generation. Squared off body, the Sky Slider canvas roof option, and trim levels that included Sport, Limited, Jet, Latitude, and Arctic. Stock wheels on the KK ran 16 to 17 inch on most trims, with 18 inch on the Limited Jet and Arctic packages. The KK was built on the same Toledo South line as the Dodge Nitro and shares its chassis, its bolt pattern, and its hub bore with the Nitro. Aftermarket wheels that fit a KK Liberty will fit a Nitro by bolt math (fender clearance still varies because the Nitro's fender shape differs).

Aftermarket diameter window on both Liberty generations runs 17 to 22 inch. Most Liberty street builds land at 18 to 20 inch to keep the body proportions in scale, with 22 inch builds existing on KK Limiteds for the larger visual. Off-road and overland Liberty builds usually stay at 17 inch for tire sidewall.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Jeep Liberty

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Liberty lineup:

  • KJ Liberty (2002-2007, Sport / Limited / Renegade): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 71.5mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug nuts, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7-9.5 inch front and rear. Square fitment.
  • KK Liberty (2008-2012, Sport / Limited / Jet / Latitude / Arctic): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 71.5mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug nuts, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7-9.5 inch front and rear. Square fitment.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Liberty (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the Liberty wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

How We Confirm Fitment on Jeep Liberty Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the Liberty directly, across both the KJ and the KK generations and across rear wheel drive and four wheel drive configurations. For the Liberty that means hub bore confirmation at 71.5mm, clearance from the wheel to the fender at ride height and at full droop, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension at full lock, brake caliper height on the Limited's larger front brake package, lug seat depth, and lug thread confirmation at M12x1.5. The KJ Renegade trim with its deeper factory offset gets called out separately because the starting fender position is different. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull these from manufacturer spec sheets the way most retailers do.

Jeep Liberty Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Jeep Liberty?

Every Jeep Liberty (2002-2012, KJ and KK) uses 5x114.3 with a 71.5mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug nuts, and 5 lugs. Same pattern across every trim and every model year. 5x114.3 is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial (114.3mm = 4.5 inch). Same pattern, two naming conventions.

What is the hub bore on a Jeep Liberty?

Every Jeep Liberty uses a 71.5mm factory hub bore. The hub bore is the same across Sport, Limited, Renegade, Jet, Latitude, and Arctic trims and across both the KJ (2002-2007) and KK (2008-2012) generations. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Will KJ Liberty wheels fit a KK Liberty?

By bolt math, yes. Both generations share 5x114.3 with a 71.5mm hub bore and M12x1.5 lug threads. The fender shape and the brake assembly options change between the KJ and the KK, so offset and width still need to be confirmed against the destination chassis. A KJ Renegade factory wheel can bolt onto a KK Liberty hub, but the visual stance and the fender clearance can shift. Use our Year/Make/Model search to filter listings for your exact year.

Is the Liberty the same chassis as the Dodge Nitro?

The second generation KK Liberty (2008-2012) and the Dodge Nitro (2007-2011) are mechanical twins out of the same Toledo South plant on the same chassis. Both run 5x114.3 with a 71.5mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lugs, and a 5 lug pattern. Bolt math crosses cleanly between the two. The first generation KJ Liberty (2002-2007) predates the Nitro program. See our Dodge Nitro hub for the twin's fitment leaf.

Does the Liberty Renegade trim use a different bolt pattern?

No. The KJ Renegade trim uses the same 5x114.3 / 71.5mm bolt pattern and hub bore as the rest of the Liberty lineup. The Renegade trim difference is in factory offset (the factory wheel sits closer to the fender), fender flares, and the brush guard. Bolt math is identical. A KJ Renegade can take any Liberty 5x114.3 wheel that clears the brake and the fender on that chassis.

Do 2WD and 4WD Liberty models use the same wheels?

Yes. 2WD (rear wheel drive) and 4WD Liberty models share the same bolt pattern, hub bore, diameter range, width range, and offset window. The drivetrain difference does not change the fitment box on the Liberty. Both setups take the same wheels.

What is the most popular Jeep Liberty wheel size?

18 inch is the most common aftermarket Liberty wheel size on both the KJ and the KK. It's the natural step up from the factory 17 inch on most trims and keeps tire selection wide. 20 inch is the next most common, popular on KK Limited Jet and Arctic builds for a larger visual. Off-road and overland Liberty builds usually stay at 17 inch for tire sidewall, with 22 inch builds existing on the street side of the lineup.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Jeep Liberty?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the Liberty's 71.5mm factory hub bore. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
