Jeep Wrangler Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the most lifted, most modified platforms in our catalog. Four generations have been built since 1987: YJ (1987-1995), TJ (1997-2006), JK (2007-2018), and JL (2018 and up). The single biggest fitment fact on the Wrangler is the bolt pattern transition with the JK in 2007. The YJ and TJ ran 5x114.3 (5x4.5), and the JK and JL run 5x127 (5x5). Wheels do not cross that transition. Hub bore is 71.5mm on every Wrangler. The JL Rubicon also gets its own fitment row separate from the non-Rubicon JL because the Rubicon's front axle, brake package, and factory tire size differ from the rest of the lineup. Find your generation below.

Find Your Jeep Wrangler Generation

Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Wrangler. The bolt pattern shifts from 5x114.3 to 5x127 at the 2007 JK. On the JK and JL we track lifted setups as their own rows because each lift height (stock, 2-3 inch, 3.5-4 inch) and tire size combination (33, 35, 37 inch) changes which wheels we recommend. JL Rubicon gets its own row.

The Jeep Wrangler Bolt Pattern Across Two Eras

The Wrangler used 5x114.3 (also written 5x4.5 in imperial) on the YJ (1987-1995) and the TJ (1997-2006). When the JK launched in 2007, Jeep moved to 5x127 (5x5), and the JL has stayed on that pattern since 2018. Hub bore is 71.5mm on every Wrangler from 1987 forward. Lug count is 5 on every Wrangler. The pattern is the question. YJ and TJ wheels do NOT bolt to a JK or JL Wrangler, and JK or JL wheels do NOT bolt to a YJ or TJ. The two patterns are 12.7mm apart and the studs do not line up cleanly.

From the JK forward (2007 and up), wheels generally cross between JK and JL because both use 5x127 with the 71.5mm hub bore. Whether the offset and width work on your Jeep is the next question, and that depends on lift height, tire size, and whether you have a Rubicon. Compare across the rest of the Jeep lineup at our Jeep wheels and rims hub.

Why Wrangler Fitment Is Lift-Driven and Rubicon-Specific

Almost every Wrangler in our catalog has a lift fitment row attached to it. Owners run 2-3 inch lifts on 33 inch tires, 2-3 inch lifts on 35 inch tires, 3.5-4 inch lifts on 35 inch tires, and 3.5-4 inch lifts on 37 inch tires. Each combination changes which wheel works, what diameter and width fit, and which offset clears the upper control arm, the inner fender liner, and the tire at full lock. That is why the JK alone has five fitment rows in our catalog (stock plus four lifted combinations) and the JL has four (non-Rubicon stock, non-Rubicon 2-3 inch lift with 35 inch tires, Rubicon stock, and Rubicon 2-3 inch lift).

  • JK (All Lifted Fitments umbrella): 5x127, 71.5mm hub bore, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 26 inch. Aftermarket width range: 9 to 16 inch (covers show builds and the widest off-road setups).
  • JL Non-Rubicon (2018 and Up, Stock Height): 5x127, 71.5mm hub bore, 5 lug, M14x1.5 (and earlier 1/2") thread. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7 to 10.5 inch square.
  • JL Non-Rubicon with 2-3 in. Lift / 35 in. Tires: 5x127, 71.5mm hub bore, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7 to 10.5 inch square.
  • JL Rubicon (2018 and Up, Stock Height): 5x127, 71.5mm hub bore, 5 lug, M14x1.5 thread. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7 to 10.5 inch square.
  • JL Rubicon with 2-3 in. Lift: 5x127, 71.5mm hub bore, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16 to 22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7 to 10.5 inch square.

For your exact aftermarket offset on any of these rows, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Wrangler at your lift height and tire size (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the Wrangler wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

The JL Rubicon splits from the rest of the JL because its front axle, brake package, approach-angle suspension geometry, and 33 inch factory tire differ from the non-Rubicon JL. The wheel choices look similar by spec but the buying picture is different: at stock height, a Rubicon owner is already sitting on 33s and a non-Rubicon owner is not. We track Rubicon and non-Rubicon as separate fitment rows so the leaf page recommendations match the truck.

How We Confirm Fitment on Jeep Wrangler Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every Wrangler generation we carry. For the Wrangler that means clearance from the wheel to the front and rear fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the upper control arm and the inner fender liner, tire clearance at full lock, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation on the 71.5mm hub, lug seat geometry, and how much room the wheel and tire have once the suspension is lifted with the tire size the customer plans to run. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

That measurement work is why we treat the JK as five separate fitment rows (stock plus four lift-and-tire combinations), why the JL Rubicon gets its own row from the non-Rubicon JL, and why every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

Jeep Wrangler Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Jeep Wrangler?

It depends on the generation. The YJ (1987-1995) and TJ (1997-2006) used 5x114.3 (5x4.5). The JK (2007-2018) and JL (2018 and up) use 5x127 (5x5). Hub bore is 71.5mm on every Wrangler from 1987 forward. Wheels do not bolt across the 2007 transition between TJ and JK because the two patterns are 12.7mm apart and the studs do not line up.

Will my TJ wheels fit a JK Wrangler?

No. The TJ uses 5x114.3 and the JK uses 5x127. Different bolt circles and the studs do not line up. Same situation going the other direction: JK wheels do not bolt to a TJ. From the JK forward (2007 and up), wheels generally cross between JK and JL because both use 5x127 with the 71.5mm hub bore.

What is the hub bore on a Jeep Wrangler?

Every Wrangler from 1987 forward uses a 71.5mm hub bore, YJ, TJ, JK, and JL included. Many off-road wheels are bored larger to fit multiple Jeep platforms. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

What size lift do I need for 33, 35, or 37 inch tires?

On a JK or JL non-Rubicon, 33 inch tires fit on a 2-3 inch lift with most wheel choices. On the JL Rubicon, 33 inch tires are factory and clear at stock height. 35 inch tires want a 2-3 inch lift on the JK or JL. 37 inch tires want a 3.5-4 inch lift with the right wheel choice. Each combination is its own fitment row in our catalog so the diameter, width, and offset recommendations match the lift and tire you intend to run. Pick your lift category on the leaf page and the listings narrow to wheels we have measured for that exact setup.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Wrangler?

On a stock JK or JL, 22 inch is at the top of the standard catalog window. Lifted JK and JL builds reach 24 inch in our standard lift rows. The catalog umbrella "All Lifted Fitments" row on the JK reaches 26 inch with widths up to 16 inch for show builds. That said, most enthusiast Wrangler builds running 35 or 37 inch tires step DOWN to 17 or 18 inch wheels because the taller tire sidewall is what gives the Jeep its off-road clearance and articulation.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Wrangler?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the 71.5mm Wrangler hub. Many off-road Wrangler wheels are bored larger to fit multiple Jeep platforms. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

What is the lug nut torque spec on a Wrangler?

Jeep lug nut torque on the JK and JL is 95-130 lb-ft depending on the year and lug stud size. Earlier JK years used a 1/2 inch stud at the lower end of that range; later JK and the JL moved to a M14x1.5 stud at the upper end. Always confirm against your owner manual for your specific year. Re-torque after 50 to 100 miles when fitting a new wheel.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific Jeep Wrangler?

Pick your generation from the grid above (YJ, TJ, JK, JL, or JL Rubicon). For the JL, pick Rubicon or non-Rubicon because we track those as separate fitment rows. Then on the leaf page pick your suspension setup (stock height, 2-3 inch lift, or 3.5-4 inch lift) and the tire size you intend to run. If you are not sure which generation you have, the square headlights are YJ, the round headlights with leaf-spring suspension are TJ, and the round headlights with coil-spring suspension are JK or JL. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
