The Land Rover Discovery covered on this hub is the L462 generation, also known as Discovery 5. It launched in 2017 and is still in production. The L462 Discovery is a full-size three row luxury SUV that sits between the Discovery Sport and the full-size Range Rover in the Land Rover lineup. Every L462 Discovery from 2017 forward runs 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore, the same bolt pattern and hub bore used across the full-size Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and the modern Defender. Wheels measured for the L462 Discovery share that 5x120 / 72.56mm geometry with those other full-size Land Rover platforms, but offset, brake clearance, and tire sizing are measured on the Discovery itself.

The older Discovery LR3 (2005-2009) and LR4 (2010-2016) are not part of this hub. Those generations are covered at our LR2 / LR3 / LR4 wheels and rims hub because they share a body-on-frame platform that the L462 left behind. The 2017 and newer L462 uses a unibody aluminum architecture and a completely different wheel package.

The Land Rover Discovery Bolt Pattern

Every L462 Discovery from 2017 forward uses 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore and M14x1.5 lug bolts. The pattern is unchanged across the standard, S, SE, HSE, R-Dynamic, and First Edition trims, and it is the same on the 2024 model year refresh. The Discovery uses five lug bolts threaded directly into the hub, not studs and nuts, which is the typical Jaguar Land Rover wheel attachment.

5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore is the same geometry used on the full-size Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and the modern L663 Defender. A factory wheel from any of those platforms will bolt to a Discovery hub. Offset, brake clearance, and tire sizing still need to match the Discovery, so we measure the Discovery as its own catalog row even though it shares the bolt circle with its larger siblings. The Discovery does not share wheels with the Discovery Sport, the Range Rover Velar, or the Evoque. Those three are 5x108 platforms on a different chassis. Land Rover Discovery Trims and Wheel Specs

The L462 Discovery has been sold in Standard, S, SE, HSE, HSE Luxury, First Edition, and R-Dynamic trims across its production run. The 2024 model year brought a refresh with revised front-end styling, an updated interior, and the same 5x120 / 72.56mm hub bore the L462 launched with in 2017. Brake packages do not split aftermarket fitment in a meaningful way on the Discovery the way they do on the Range Rover Sport SVR or the Defender V8. We track the L462 as a single fitment row.

The front brakes are larger than the rear on the Discovery. That is the factory configuration and the norm on a full-size luxury SUV. The front axle does the majority of the stopping work and the front rotor and caliper are scaled to match. The size delta means the front wheel needs more clearance behind the face than the rear, which is one reason we measure both axles on every Discovery fitment we publish.
