Why Range Rover Sport Brake Spec Determines Wheel Fit

The Sport is sold with multiple brake packages on most generations, and the brake you have determines what wheels actually clear. The base Sport ships with a standard caliper that allows the widest aftermarket fitment window. The V6 Supercharged trims run either the base brake or the 6-piston brake depending on the year and package. The V8 Supercharged trims and the SVR ship with the 6-piston front brake from the factory, and that caliper sits higher in the wheel cavity than the base brake. The 2014-2022 L494 is the most brake-variant-heavy generation in the lineup, splitting into Non-Supercharged, V6 Supercharged with base brakes, V6 Supercharged with 6-piston brakes, and V8 Supercharged with 6-piston brakes. We track all four as separate catalog rows because a wheel that clears the base brake can hit the 6-piston caliper.

The front brakes are larger than the rear on every Range Rover Sport. That is the factory configuration and the norm on a heavy performance SUV.
