Both notations describe the same pattern. The Town Car has never changed bolt pattern across the entire production run because Lincoln kept it on the Panther rear wheel drive platform for its full life.

What Changed Across Lincoln Town Car Generations

Three Panther platform generations of the Town Car make it into our catalog. The 1990-1997 Aerostyle generation ran factory 15 and 16 inch wheels. The 1998-2002 redesign kept the same bolt pattern but updated the brake setup and the factory wheel design moved to 16 inch standard. The 2003-2011 facelift ran 17 inch wheels from the factory on most trims and is the most popular Town Car generation for aftermarket upgrades, often stepping up to 18, 19, or 20 inch wheels for the larger diameter look.

The Town Car is a body-on-frame rear wheel drive sedan, which means there is room in the wheel well for diameter upgrades without rubbing. The limiting factors on Town Car fitment are tire sidewall height (the ride changes once the sidewall is shorter than factory), the brake caliper depth, and the offset window the Panther platform allows.
