The Mazda 3 Bolt Pattern

Every Mazda 3 generation runs 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore. The imperial nickname for this pattern is 5x4.5 because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly. The lug count is 5 and the thread pitch is M12x1.5. The bolt pattern is the same on the 1st gen BK (2004-2009), the 2nd gen BL (2010-2013), the 2010-2013 Mazdaspeed3, the 3rd gen BM and BN (2014-2018), and the current 4th gen BP (2019 and up). The hub bore is 67.1mm on every generation as well, so the hub centering does not change either.

One detail to flag because it catches buyers cross-shopping wheels. 5x114.3 is NOT the same as the 5x115 pattern used on some American sedans like the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger. The two patterns sit roughly 0.7mm apart on the hub circle and a wheel built for one will not properly seat on the other. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers to 5x114.3 only. When you are shopping, confirm the wheel listing says 5x114.3 specifically. The imperial form of that same pattern is 5x4.5. Why the Mazda 3 Generation Changes the Fitment Window

Every Mazda 3 generation shares the same bolt pattern and hub bore, but the diameter range and width window shift as the car evolved. The 1st gen BK (2004-2009) and the 2nd gen BL (2010-2013) accept aftermarket diameters from 15 to 20 inch, in widths from 6 to 8 inch square. The 3rd gen BM and BN (2014-2018) tightens the lower end to 16 inch and lifts the width window slightly to 7 to 8 inch. The current 4th gen BP (2019 and up) opens the window back to 16 to 20 inch on the standard fitment row, and we keep a separate aggressive-fitment row for BP customers running a wider 8.5 to 9 inch wheel with a lower offset. Most aftermarket Mazda 3 buyers on the BP land at 18 or 19 inch with a flush stance.

The Mazdaspeed3 is the high performance trim from inside the 2010-2013 BL generation, with the 2.3 liter turbo and an upgraded factory brake package. We measure the Mazdaspeed3 as its own catalog row because the factory front brake on the Mazdaspeed3 is larger than the brake on a non-turbo BL 3, which tightens the brake clearance window. The bolt pattern, hub bore, lug count, and thread pitch are still the same 5x114.3 / 67.1mm / 5 / M12x1.5 spec, so a wheel that bolts to a regular BL 3 will bolt to a Mazdaspeed3 in lug math. The brake clearance is what we verify separately. The Mazdaspeed3 fitment window measures to 18 to 19 inch in diameter with the larger factory brake cleared.

The Mazda 3 is a square (non-staggered) fitment from the factory on every generation, including the Mazdaspeed3. Same wheel spec front and rear on every trim. Almost every aftermarket Mazda 3 build also runs square because the front wheel drive layout rewards equal grip front to rear and keeps tire rotation simple.
