Mazda MPV Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Mazda MPV is the minivan Mazda sold in North America across two generations. The first generation MPV (chassis code LV) ran 1989 through 1998 as a rear wheel drive V6 minivan, with optional all wheel drive on later trims. The second generation MPV (chassis code LW) ran 1999 through 2006 as a front wheel drive minivan on a Mazda passenger car platform, with the V6 carrying through the second generation as well. Element Wheels measures fitment on the 1999-2006 LW MPV in our active catalog with two rows split by factory wheel size (the 15 and 16 inch OE trims and the 17 inch OE trims, the latter on later years and higher trims). The first generation LV MPV is not currently in our active catalog row set, so we route those customers to our Year/Make/Model search and free fitment consultation. Pick your generation below.
Find Your Mazda MPV Generation
Pick your generation to see wheels and rims that fit your specific MPV. Element Wheels currently maintains measured fitment catalog rows for the second generation 1999-2006 LW MPV. The first generation 1989-1998 LV MPV (rear wheel drive V6 minivan) is not currently in our active catalog. If you have a first generation LV MPV, use our Year/Make/Model search or contact our team for a free fitment consultation on your specific year and trim.
The Mazda MPV Bolt Pattern and Hub Bore
The second generation 1999-2006 LW Mazda MPV runs 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore and 12x1.5 lug nuts. The 5x114.3 pattern is also expressed as 5x4.5 in imperial nickname because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly. The lug count is 5 and the thread pitch is M12x1.5 across every LW MPV trim from 1999 through 2006. The Element Wheels catalog rows for the LW MPV confirm this spec directly. The 5x114.3 / 67.1mm hub configuration is the same hub family Mazda used on the contemporary 5x114.3 lineup, which makes shopping the LW MPV consistent with the rest of the brand from that era.
One thing to flag because it catches MPV buyers cross-shopping wheels. 5x114.3 is NOT the same as 5x115. The two patterns sit about 0.7mm apart at the bolt circle, which is enough to stress the lug studs over time and create a real safety problem. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers to 5x114.3 only (because 4.5 inches equals 114.3mm exactly). 5x115 has no imperial nickname that overlaps with 5x4.5. When you are shopping for MPV wheels, confirm the listing reads 5x114.3 specifically. Compare across the rest of the Mazda lineup at our Mazda wheels and rims hub.
Hub bore on the LW MPV is 67.1mm. A wheel with a centerbore larger than 67.1mm needs hub centric rings to bring the bore down to the MPV's hub diameter. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
For the first generation 1989-1998 LV MPV, the published bolt pattern is 6x139.7 across the rear wheel drive and all wheel drive variants, the same heavier-duty hub Mazda used on the contemporary B-Series pickup. This is materially different from the second generation LW. If you have an LV MPV, contact our team for a fitment consultation against your specific year and trim before shopping.
LV vs LW MPV, and the Drivetrain Change
The MPV is one of those vehicles where the generation change is also a complete platform change. The first generation LV MPV (1989-1998) was a rear wheel drive V6 minivan that shared mechanical underpinnings with the Mazda B-Series pickup of the era, with optional all wheel drive on later LV trims. The second generation LW MPV (1999-2006) moved to a front wheel drive passenger car platform with a transverse V6 (the 2.5 liter GY-DE for early LW years, and the 3.0 liter AJ-DE Duratec V6 from 2002 on). The two generations do not share a bolt pattern, do not share a hub bore, and do not share a wheel.
The LW MPV is the generation Element Wheels measures and catalogs directly. The chassis runs square (same width front and rear) on every LW trim across every year, and there is no factory staggered MPV in any year. Most aftermarket LW MPV builds run square as well because the chassis is engineered around equal grip front to rear and tire rotation is part of normal maintenance. Brake size is matched front to rear from the factory across every LW catalog row in our system.

How We Confirm Fitment on Mazda MPV Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the 1999-2006 LW MPV. For the LW MPV that means clearance from the wheel to the front and rear fenders on a tall minivan body, gap between the back of the wheel and the front strut and brake caliper on a front wheel drive chassis, hub bore confirmation at 67.1mm, lug seat geometry on the M12x1.5 thread, and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed at full lock. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
For the 1st generation LV MPV, the chassis is a different platform from the LW with a different bolt pattern and a different hub bore. We route LV customers to a fitment consultation rather than extrapolating from the LW catalog data. If you have an LV MPV, send us the year and any modifications and we can confirm the right wheel before you order.
Mazda MPV Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Mazda MPV?
It depends on the generation. The second generation 1999-2006 LW MPV runs 5x114.3 with a 67.1mm hub bore and 12x1.5 lug nuts. The first generation 1989-1998 LV MPV runs 6x139.7 with a different hub bore and is a rear wheel drive V6 minivan with different mechanicals altogether. The 5x114.3 pattern is also expressed as 5x4.5 imperial. Note that 5x114.3 is NOT the same as 5x115. Those are 0.7mm apart at the bolt circle and do not cross.
What years was the Mazda MPV sold in North America?
The Mazda MPV ran from 1989 through 2006 model years in North America across two generations. The first generation LV MPV covered 1989-1998 as a rear wheel drive V6 minivan. The second generation LW MPV covered 1999-2006 as a front wheel drive V6 minivan. The MPV nameplate was retired in North America after the 2006 model year.
What is the hub bore on a Mazda MPV?
67.1mm on the second generation 1999-2006 LW MPV. A wheel with a larger centerbore needs hub centric rings to bring the bore down to the MPV's hub diameter. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order. The first generation 1989-1998 LV MPV uses a different hub bore on a different platform and needs a separate fitment check.
Is the first generation LV MPV the same as the second generation LW MPV?
No. The two generations are entirely different vehicles under the same nameplate. The first generation LV MPV (1989-1998) is a rear wheel drive V6 minivan that shares mechanical underpinnings with the Mazda B-Series pickup of the era, with optional all wheel drive on later trims. The second generation LW MPV (1999-2006) is a front wheel drive passenger car platform with a transverse V6 and a completely different chassis. Wheels do not interchange between the two generations.
Are Mazda MPV wheels staggered?
No. Every MPV runs square (same width front and rear) on every trim across both generations. There is no factory staggered MPV in any year. Most aftermarket MPV builds also run square because the chassis is engineered around equal grip front to rear and tire rotation is part of normal maintenance.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Mazda MPV?
Our measured aftermarket diameter window on the 1999-2006 LW MPV tops at 20 inch across both catalog rows. 18 inch is the most common aftermarket diameter on LW MPV builds. The factory wheel runs 15 to 17 inch depending on year and trim. Going past 20 inch on a minivan of this era pushes the sidewall too thin for the way the chassis is suspended and the ride suffers, especially when the van is loaded.
Why does the catalog show two rows for the LW MPV?
The two rows split by factory OE wheel size. Early LW trims and base trims came from the factory on 15 or 16 inch wheels, and later LW trims (especially 2003-2006) came on 17 inch factory wheels. The bolt pattern, the hub bore, and the lug spec are identical across both rows. The split is for catalog precision so we can match each row to the right factory-spec baseline when recommending aftermarket sizes. The 5x114.3 / 67.1mm / 12x1.5 hub configuration is the same across every LW MPV.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Mazda MPV build?
Three steps. Confirm your generation: the 1989-1998 LV (rear wheel drive V6) or the 1999-2006 LW (front wheel drive V6). Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific year. Browse the wheel gallery for real-world MPV builds with size, offset, and tire captions. For a 1st gen LV MPV or any modified build, contact our team for a free fitment consultation. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
