Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class is the mid-size luxury coupe and convertible that Mercedes built across two generations, the W208 (1998-2003) and the W209 (2003-2010). Mercedes discontinued the CLK after the 2010 model year and replaced it with the E-Class Coupe. Element Wheels measures fitment across every CLK trim we sell wheels for: CLK 320, CLK 350, CLK 430, CLK 500, CLK 55 AMG, and CLK 63 AMG (including the 2008 CLK 63 AMG Black Series, which falls under the 2007-2010 CLK 63 AMG fitment in our catalog). The bolt pattern is constant at 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore across the entire CLK run. What separates the CLK from other Mercedes coupes is a quirk we have measured directly: every CLK chassis carries a tall 44mm front hub, and most aftermarket wheels will physically hit the centercap unless we have confirmed bore and cap clearance for that specific wheel against that specific CLK. This is the most-overlooked spec on the CLK and the single most common reason a CLK wheel order needs to be reworked. The CLK 500 (1998-2002) carries an additional restriction: the front brake on that trim is tall enough that the practical minimum aftermarket diameter is 19 inch. Pick your generation and trim below for the fitment specs that apply to your specific CLK.
Find Your Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Generation
Pick your generation and trim to see wheels and rims that fit your specific CLK. The bolt pattern is constant at 5x112 across every CLK, so trim and brake package shape the aftermarket window. The W208 (1998-2003) and W209 (2003-2010) are the two chassis; the AMG variants and the CLK 500 each carry their own fitment considerations.
The Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Bolt Pattern
Every Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class uses 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That holds across both W208 (1998-2003) and W209 (2003-2010) chassis, and across every trim including CLK 320, CLK 350, CLK 430, CLK 500, CLK 55 AMG, and CLK 63 AMG (and the CLK 63 AMG Black Series, which is the 2008 special-edition version of the CLK 63 AMG row). The 5x112 / 66.56mm spec is the standard Mercedes-Benz luxury-car pattern shared with the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, and SL-Class of the same era, so a wheel built for a 5x112 / 66.56mm Mercedes from the late 1990s through the early 2010s will physically bolt onto a CLK. Bolting onto the hub is not the same as fitting the car, and on the CLK that distinction matters more than it does on any other Mercedes coupe.
The reason is the front hub geometry. Every CLK chassis in our catalog carries a tall 44mm front hub, and most aftermarket wheels we have measured will hit the wheel centercap before the lug seats land flat against the hub face. The CLK 500 (1998-2002) goes further: the front brake on that trim is tall enough that the practical minimum aftermarket diameter on a CLK 500 is 19 inch. An 18 inch wheel that fits a CLK 320 of the same year will not fit a CLK 500 because the front brake is taller and the wheel will hit the caliper. These are the kinds of details that show up only after measuring the car directly, and they are the reason we publish CLK fitment trim by trim, not just chassis by chassis. Compare across the rest of the Mercedes-Benz lineup at our Mercedes-Benz wheels and rims hub.
Why CLK Wheel Fitment Is Trickier Than Other Mercedes Coupes
The CLK has three fitment quirks that no other Mercedes coupe of the same era carries. First, the 44mm tall front hub already mentioned: most aftermarket wheels have a centercap recess that is not deep enough to clear a 44mm hub, so the cap hits the hub before the wheel seats. We confirm cap clearance on every CLK fitment before recommending a wheel. Second, the CLK 500 (1998-2002) front brake is tall enough that 19 inch is the practical aftermarket minimum on that trim only. The CLK 320 and CLK 430 of the same W208 era happily run 16 to 19 inch; the CLK 500 starts at 19. Third, the AMG variants (CLK 55 AMG on both chassis, and CLK 63 AMG on the W209) carry a front brake larger than the rear, which is normal on a performance car of this caliber; the front axle does most of the braking work and Mercedes scales the front rotor and caliper accordingly. The CLK 350 with standard brakes runs a smaller front brake than the CLK 350 with sport brakes, which is why we split those two as separate fitment leaves.

For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific CLK (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the CLK-Class wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation (recommended on every CLK due to the centercap clearance check).
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you. On the CLK specifically, the centercap clearance check is the single most common rework reason, so we recommend running the free fitment consultation before ordering rather than after.
How We Confirm Fitment on Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both CLK chassis (W208 and W209) and every CLK trim. For the CLK specifically, the measurement work that other shops skip includes the front hub height (the 44mm or 43mm tall hub on most CLK rows), the wheel centercap recess depth (to confirm the cap clears the hub), the front brake caliper height (especially the tall CLK 500 front brake and the AMG-spec front brakes), the gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, clearance from the wheel to the fender, lug bolt seat depth, and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
That measurement work is what surfaced the 44mm front hub centercap trap, the CLK 500 19 inch minimum, and the standard-vs-sport-brake split on the W209 CLK 350. It is also why the CLK is one of the Mercedes platforms most-protected by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Mercedes-Benz CLK?
Every Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class uses 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That holds across both the W208 (1998-2003) and W209 (2003-2010) chassis, and across every trim from the CLK 320 through the CLK 63 AMG (including the 2008 CLK 63 AMG Black Series). The bolt pattern is shared with the contemporary C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, and SL-Class, but CLK-specific brake and front-hub clearance is not.
Why do so many aftermarket wheels hit the centercap on a CLK?
Every CLK chassis in our catalog carries a tall front hub, around 43 to 44mm. Most aftermarket wheels have a centercap recess that is not deep enough to clear that hub, so the cap hits the hub before the wheel seats flat. We have measured this directly across the CLK lineup, which is why we publish a centercap-clearance check as part of every CLK fitment. If you have ordered CLK wheels and the centercap will not seat, this is the cause. Element confirms cap clearance on every CLK wheel recommendation before shipping.
Why is the CLK 500 locked at 19 inch as a minimum?
The CLK 500 (1998-2002) carries a front brake that is taller than the front brake on the CLK 320 or CLK 430 of the same W208 era. We have measured that no 18 inch or smaller aftermarket wheel clears the CLK 500 front caliper. The practical minimum aftermarket diameter on that trim is 19 inch. Other W208 CLKs happily run 16 to 19 inch, but the CLK 500 starts at 19. The W209 CLK 500 with sport brakes carries a similar (though slightly different) front caliper and is in the same 17 to 19 inch window as the W209 CLK 350 sport-brake variant.
Will an E-Class wheel fit a CLK?
Bolt pattern matches (5x112 / 66.56mm) and the W210 / W211 / W212 E-Class shares the same hub bore. The wheel will bolt onto the CLK hub. Whether it fits the CLK depends on the centercap clearance, the brake clearance, and the offset window for the specific CLK trim. An E-Class wheel that fits an E320 or E350 of the same year often does not work on a CLK because the CLK 44mm front hub is taller than the E-Class equivalent, so the centercap will hit. Element measures CLK-specific fitment separately for that reason.
Are CLK wheels staggered?
Optional on every CLK trim. The W208 and W209 chassis both accept staggered as an option and a square setup also works. We generally recommend staggered for the visual line on a luxury coupe and for the rear-drive chassis. The CLK 55 AMG, CLK 63 AMG, and the CLK 500 with sport brakes were factory-set with mildly wider rears in many configurations; the rest of the CLK lineup ships square-or-staggered depending on the OEM wheel package selected at order.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a CLK?
The CLK 63 AMG (2007-2010) tops at 20 inch in our measured window. Every other CLK trim, on both W208 and W209, tops at 19 inch. The CLK is a compact-to-mid-size coupe and above 19 to 20 inch the tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops sharply and the visual goes past the fender line. The CLK 320 and CLK 350 typically look right at 17 to 18 inch; the AMG variants look right at 18 to 19 inch (and 20 inch on the CLK 63 AMG specifically).
Do I need hub centric rings on a Mercedes-Benz CLK?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 66.56mm. That holds across every CLK trim since the hub bore stays 66.56mm on both W208 and W209 chassis. The CLK ring question is separate from the centercap clearance check; you can need rings, or you can need cap clearance, or both. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Mercedes-Benz CLK build?
Three steps. Confirm your chassis (W208 1998-2003 or W209 2003-2010) and trim (CLK 320, 350, 430, 500, 55 AMG, or 63 AMG). For the W209 CLK 350, confirm whether yours has standard or sport brakes. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific CLK and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. Because the CLK 44mm front hub centercap clearance is a near-universal trap, we recommend a free fitment consultation on every CLK order before you commit. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
Get Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class Wheels Right the First Time
Pick your generation and trim above to see wheels and rims that fit. We measure on the CLK platform across both W208 and W209 chassis, carve the CLK 500 19 inch front-brake floor out, split the standard-vs-sport-brake CLK 350, and confirm centercap clearance on the 44mm tall front hub. Find your fit and start enjoying your build sooner.
