The 5x114.3 spec is also called 5x4.5 in imperial form because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches. Both notations describe the same pattern. The Grand Marquis kept this bolt pattern across the entire Panther run because Mercury never moved the car off the rear wheel drive Panther chassis.

What Changed Across Mercury Grand Marquis Generations

Three Panther platform generations of the Grand Marquis make it into our catalog. The 1992-1997 Aerostyle generation ran factory 15 and 16 inch wheels. The 1998-2002 redesign kept the same bolt pattern but updated the brake setup and most trims moved to 16 inch factory wheels. The 2003-2011 facelift ran 17 inch factory wheels on most trims and is the most popular Grand Marquis generation for aftermarket upgrades, often stepping up to 18, 19, or 20 inch wheels for the larger diameter look.

The Grand Marquis is a body on frame rear wheel drive sedan, which means there is room in the wheel well for diameter upgrades without rubbing. The limiting factors on Grand Marquis fitment are tire sidewall height (the ride changes once the sidewall is shorter than factory), the brake caliper depth, and the offset window the Panther platform allows.
