Mini Countryman and Paceman Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Mini Countryman is the larger crossover body in the Mini lineup, and the Paceman is the 3-door coupe variant of the first-generation Countryman that Mini sold from 2013 to 2016. Element Wheels measures fitment across the R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman (2011-2016) and the F60 Countryman (2017-2023). The Countryman continues as the U25 from 2024 and up. The single most important Countryman fitment fact is that the bolt pattern changed at the F-platform transition, and not to the same spec the Hardtop uses. The R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman ran 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore because they shared the chassis with the first-generation BMW X1. The F60 Countryman moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore on the BMW UKL2 chassis. A wheel built for an R60 will not bolt onto an F60. Both generations support a John Cooper Works trim with upgraded brakes that take more inner clearance behind the wheel face than the base car. Find your generation below and the fitment specs follow.
Find Your Mini Countryman or Paceman Generation
Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Countryman or Paceman. The bolt pattern changed at the F-platform (2017). R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman ran 5x120. F60 Countryman runs 5x112. The wheels do not bolt across that transition.
The Countryman Bolt Pattern Changed at the F-Platform
The first-generation Countryman and Paceman (R60 and R61 from 2011-2016) used 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore. The R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman shared the chassis with the first-generation BMW X1 (E84), which is why they ran 5x120 / 72.56mm rather than the Mini Cooper 4x100 spec the rest of the Mini lineup used at the time. When BMW moved Mini's crossover line to the UKL2 chassis for the 2017 model year F60 Countryman, the bolt pattern dropped to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. UKL2 is BMW's small-platform front wheel drive / all wheel drive architecture, shared on the Mini side with the F-series Clubman (F54), the F48 X1 second-generation, the F39 X2, and on the BMW side with the F45/F46 2-series Active Tourer and Gran Tourer. The lug count stayed at five, but the bolt circle diameter went from 120mm to 112mm and the hub bore from 72.56mm to 66.56mm. The wheels do not bolt across that transition under any circumstances.
The Countryman is the only Mini that previously ran 5x120. The R60 inherited the 5x120 / 72.56mm spec from the E84 BMW X1 chassis it shares. The Paceman (R61) was the 3-door coupe variant of the R60 Countryman and shares the same bolt pattern, hub bore, and fitment window. Mini discontinued the Paceman after model year 2016. Countryman Specs and the JCW Brake Package
Both generations of the Countryman and the R61 Paceman were offered with a John Cooper Works trim. The JCW gets a larger front brake than the base Countryman, and like every JCW Mini that front brake takes more inner clearance behind the wheel face than the base car. The front brake is physically larger than the rear brake on every Countryman trim because the front axle does the majority of the braking work on a unibody crossover. That is standard for the segment. The practical fitment effect is the same as on the Hardtop JCW. Some wheels that clear a base Countryman will not clear a JCW Countryman, and the JCW minimum diameter is typically one step larger than the base car's minimum diameter.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Mini Countryman and Paceman
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Countryman and Paceman generations:
- R60 Countryman / R61 Paceman (2011-2016): 5x120 bolt pattern, 72.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width: 7.5-8.5 inch. Square fitment.
- F60 Countryman (2017-2023): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width: 7.5-9 inch. Square fitment.
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Countryman or Paceman (each listing shows its own offset).

How We Confirm Fitment on Mini Countryman and Paceman Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both Countryman generations and the R61 Paceman. For the Countryman that means clearance from the wheel to the fender (the Countryman has more fender room than the Hardtop because it is a taller crossover body), gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height (base vs JCW), hub bore fit, and turning radius clearance. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is what produced the platform-specific fitment windows on this page.
Mini Countryman and Paceman Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Mini Countryman?
It depends on the generation. The R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman (2011-2016) ran 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore because they shared the chassis with the first-generation BMW X1. The F60 Countryman (2017-2023) moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore on the BMW UKL2 chassis. The wheels do not bolt across that transition.
Will my R60 Countryman wheels fit an F60 Countryman?
No. The R60 Countryman runs 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore. The F60 Countryman runs 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. The lug count is the same (five), but the bolt circle diameter is different (120mm vs 112mm) and the hub bore is different (72.56mm vs 66.56mm). The patterns are not interchangeable. Moving from an R60 to an F60 requires a new wheel set.
Are the Countryman and Paceman the same fitment?
Yes for the 2011-2016 era. The R61 Paceman is the 3-door coupe variant of the R60 Countryman and shares the same 5x120 bolt pattern, 72.56mm hub bore, and aftermarket fitment window. Mini built the Paceman from 2013 to 2016 and then discontinued it. The Countryman continued and switched to the F60 platform (5x112 / 66.56mm) for 2017. There has never been an F60 or U25 Paceman.
Why is the R60 Countryman 5x120 when the Mini Cooper is 4x100 or 5x112?
The R60 Countryman was built on the first-generation BMW X1 (E84) chassis, which uses 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore. When BMW dropped the Countryman onto that chassis for 2011, it inherited the E84's 5x120 / 72.56mm spec. That made the R60 the only Mini in our catalog that ran 5x120 rather than the Mini Cooper 4x100 or the later Mini 5x112 pattern.
Does the John Cooper Works Countryman change the wheels I can buy?
Bolt pattern and hub bore stay the same as a base Countryman of the same generation (R60 is 5x120 / 72.56mm, F60 is 5x112 / 66.56mm). What changes is the front brake clearance. The JCW Countryman runs a larger front brake than the base car and it takes more inner clearance behind the front wheel face. Some wheels that clear a base Countryman will not clear the JCW Countryman. Our Year/Make/Model search returns the right window for the JCW Countryman specifically.
Are Mini Countryman wheels staggered?
No. Both Countryman generations and the R61 Paceman run a square (non-staggered) fitment from the factory and almost every aftermarket build also runs square. The Countryman was offered in both front wheel drive and ALL4 all wheel drive. ALL4 trims must be run square because mismatched wheel and tire diameters across the axles cause drivetrain damage on an all wheel drive Mini.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Mini Countryman?
Our Element-measured aftermarket window tops at 20 inch on both Countryman generations and the R61 Paceman. The Countryman has more fender room than the Mini Cooper Hardtop because it is a taller crossover body, which is why the window goes up to 20 inch rather than the 19 inch ceiling on the Hardtop. Most aftermarket Countryman builds land at 18 or 19 inch for the balance of look and ride.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Mini Countryman?
On the R60 Countryman and R61 Paceman, hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 72.56mm. On the F60 Countryman, only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 66.56mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
