Mitsubishi Outlander Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Mitsubishi Outlander is Mitsubishi's three row family crossover, in production since the 2003 model year and currently in its fourth generation. Element Wheels measures fitment on the Outlander across every generation we have sold wheels for: the 1st gen (2003-2006), the 2nd gen (2007-2013), the 3rd gen (2014-2021), and the current 4th gen (2022 and up), including the Outlander PHEV. The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5 imperial, because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly) across every generation. The 1st through 3rd gen Outlander used a 67.1mm hub bore on an M12x1.5 thread. The 4th gen Outlander, which is built on the Mitsubishi Renault Nissan Alliance platform shared with the Nissan Rogue, moved to a 66.1mm hub bore on an M12x1.25 thread to match the Rogue spec. That hub bore and thread shift is the most important detail to flag if you are cross shopping with an older Outlander or with the Rogue itself.
Find Your Mitsubishi Outlander Generation
Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Outlander. The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 across every generation. The hub bore and thread pitch change at the 4th gen transition (2022 model year) because the new Outlander shares the Nissan Rogue platform.
The Mitsubishi Outlander Bolt Pattern
Every Mitsubishi Outlander from 2003 and up runs 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5 imperial, because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly). The pattern is consistent across all four generations of the regular Outlander. What changes at the 4th gen transition (2022 model year) is the hub bore and the thread pitch. The 1st gen (2003-2006), 2nd gen (2007-2013), and 3rd gen (2014-2021) ran a 67.1mm hub bore on an M12x1.5 thread, which is the long running Mitsubishi spec across the lineup. The 4th gen Outlander (2022 and up) is built on the Mitsubishi Renault Nissan Alliance platform shared with the Nissan Rogue, and uses a 66.1mm hub bore on an M12x1.25 thread to match the Rogue spec. The bolt math is the same. The hub bore is 1mm smaller and the thread is finer. Wheels built for an older Outlander will not always center correctly on the 4th gen without a different hub centric ring, and the lug nuts are not interchangeable between the older and newer generations.
A cross pattern caution that applies to every 5x114.3 platform: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as the 5x115 pattern used on Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and similar American sedans. The two patterns sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers only to 5x114.3 (because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly). Calling 5x115 "5x4.5" is wrong and forcing a 5x115 wheel onto a 5x114.3 hub puts the stud loading off center, which is a safety issue. Stick to wheels listed for 5x114.3 specifically. Compare across the rest of the Mitsubishi lineup at our Mitsubishi wheels and rims hub.
Why the 4th Gen Outlander Fits Differently
The 4th gen Outlander (2022 and up) sits on the Mitsubishi Renault Nissan Alliance platform that also underpins the Nissan Rogue. That platform change shifted three fitment details at once. The hub bore moved from 67.1mm to 66.1mm. The thread pitch moved from M12x1.5 to M12x1.25 (a finer thread). The factory wheel sizes also stepped up: the 4th gen ships with larger factory wheels than the 3rd gen, with 18 and 20 inch factory diameters common across trims. Our measured aftermarket diameter window on the 4th gen reflects that, starting at 18 inch and supporting up to 22 inch.
The Outlander PHEV runs the same wheel interface as the gas Outlander of the same generation. The 4th gen PHEV (2023 and up in the US) uses the same 5x114.3 / 66.1mm CB / M12x1.25 thread as the gas 4th gen. The 3rd gen PHEV (2018-2022 in the US) uses the same 5x114.3 / 67.1mm CB / M12x1.5 thread as the gas 3rd gen. Battery placement does not change the bolt pattern, hub bore, or thread pitch on the Outlander. What can change marginally is curb weight, which is why we recommend confirming load rating on the wheel listing.

How We Confirm Fitment on Mitsubishi Outlander Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the Outlander across all four generations and the PHEV variant. For the Outlander that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation (67.1mm on the older gens, 66.1mm on the 4th gen Rogue platform car), lug seat depth, and load rating verification on the heavier PHEV builds. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is why our 4th gen Outlander window is published separately from the older generations, and why we track the hub bore and thread pitch change at the 2022 model year transition.
Mitsubishi Outlander Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Mitsubishi Outlander?
Every Mitsubishi Outlander from 2003 and up runs 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5 imperial, because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly). The pattern is consistent across all four generations of the regular Outlander, including the PHEV. What changes at the 2022 model year is the hub bore and thread pitch: 1st through 3rd gen ran 67.1mm CB / M12x1.5 thread; the 4th gen runs 66.1mm CB / M12x1.25 thread because the new platform is shared with the Nissan Rogue.
Will my older Outlander wheels fit the 2022 and up 4th gen?
The bolt math is the same (5x114.3 on both), but two things change. The hub bore drops from 67.1mm to 66.1mm, so an older wheel with a 67.1mm centerbore will sit slightly off the hub on the new car and needs a different ring. The lug thread pitch also changes from M12x1.5 to M12x1.25, so the old lug nuts are not interchangeable. The wheel itself can physically bolt on with the correct ring and the correct lug nuts, but the older factory size (often 18 inch or smaller) will look undersized on the 4th gen, which ships with up to 20 inch factory wheels. We measure both windows separately.
Do Outlander and Outlander PHEV wheels interchange?
Yes, within the same generation. The PHEV uses the same bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch as the gas Outlander of its generation (5x114.3 / 67.1mm / M12x1.5 on the 3rd gen, 5x114.3 / 66.1mm / M12x1.25 on the 4th gen). The PHEV is heavier than the gas car because of the battery, so we recommend confirming the load rating on the wheel listing. The wheel itself is otherwise the same fitment family.
Will Nissan Rogue wheels fit a 4th gen Outlander?
The bolt pattern, hub bore, and thread pitch are the same (5x114.3 / 66.1mm / M12x1.25), because the 4th gen Outlander is built on the same Mitsubishi Renault Nissan Alliance platform as the current Rogue. A Rogue wheel will bolt onto a 4th gen Outlander at the lug-hole level. Width, offset, and load rating still need to match for the fitment to be safe, which is why we measure each platform separately and publish its own window.
Is the Outlander Sport the same as the regular Outlander?
No. The Outlander Sport is a separate, smaller crossover on a different chassis (known internationally as the ASX). It shares the Mitsubishi name and the 5x114.3 bolt pattern, but the wheel window is different. The Outlander Sport runs a smaller diameter and width window than the regular Outlander. We track them separately and publish them on different hub pages. If you have an Outlander Sport, see our Outlander Sport wheels and rims hub.
What size wheels came on the Outlander from the factory?
It depends on the generation and trim. The 1st gen Outlander (2003-2006) shipped on 16 inch factory wheels. The 2nd gen (2007-2013) shipped on 16, 18, and 20 inch factory wheels depending on trim. The 3rd gen (2014-2021) shipped on 16, 17, and 18 inch factory wheels. The 4th gen (2022 and up) shipped on 18 and 20 inch factory wheels depending on trim. Aftermarket runs are typically one diameter larger than factory for visual stance.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Mitsubishi Outlander?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 67.1mm on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen Outlander, or larger than 66.1mm on the 4th gen Outlander. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Outlander?
Three steps. Confirm your generation by year (1st gen 2003-2006, 2nd gen 2007-2013, 3rd gen 2014-2021, 4th gen 2022 and up). Confirm whether you have the gas Outlander or the PHEV, since the PHEV is heavier and load rating matters. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Outlander, and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
