Rivian R1S Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Rivian R1S is the brand's electric three-row SUV and the SUV counterpart to the R1T pickup. It launched as a 2022 model on Rivian's skateboard EV platform, the same chassis architecture the R1T uses underneath. Every R1S from launch through the current model year runs 5x139.7 with a 65.1mm hub bore, an M14x1.5 thread, and a 5 lug count. 5x139.7 is the truck-class bolt pattern, the same nominal pattern used on the Ram 1500. The hub bore on the R1S is 65.1mm though, smaller than the Ram and most domestic half-tons, so the patterns match but the wheels do not cross cleanly. Element Wheels has measured fitment across the Quad-Motor, Dual-Motor, and Performance trims for stock height and for the off-road fitment running 33 inch tires. Pick your build below.
Find Your Rivian R1S Fitment
Pick your build to see wheels and rims that fit your specific R1S. The Adventure and Explore trims and the Quad-Motor, Dual-Motor, and Performance variants all share the same bolt pattern and fitment window at stock height. Off-road fitment with 33 inch tires shifts the offset window enough that we track it separately.
The Rivian R1S Bolt Pattern
Every Rivian R1S from 2022 and up runs 5x139.7 with a 65.1mm hub bore. The imperial nickname for this pattern is 5x5.5 because 139.7mm equals 5.5 inches exactly. The lug count is 5, the thread pitch is M14x1.5, and the hub spec is shared with the R1T pickup because the two vehicles use the same Rivian skateboard EV chassis. Wheels cross between the R1T and the R1S without modification.
The 5x139.7 pattern is the truck-class bolt pattern, also called 5x5.5. It is the same nominal pattern Ram uses on the 1500 pickup, which gives Rivian R1S owners access to a broader truck aftermarket wheel selection than most EVs offer. What does not cross between the R1S and the Ram 1500 is hub bore and offset window. The R1S runs a 65.1mm hub bore. The Ram 1500 hub is larger. A Ram 1500 wheel that is hub-centric to its own truck will sit hub-piloted but not hub-centric on the R1S unless an adapter ring is used, and the offset window is different enough that we measure the R1S separately even when the bolt math matches. Compare across the rest of the Rivian lineup at our Rivian wheels and rims hub.
Why R1S Stock Height vs Off-Road Fitment Matters
The R1S ships with an air suspension that lets the SUV change ride height for road driving versus off-road. At stock road-driving height the R1S runs 20 inch or 22 inch wheels with a moderate offset window. The off-road fitment running 33 inch tires uses the same bolt pattern and the same 65.1mm hub bore but shifts to a much more aggressive offset window to clear the larger tire under suspension travel. We track these as two separate fitment rows in our catalog. A wheel that fits a stock-height R1S nicely will not clear properly on the 33 inch off-road build, and the wider off-road offset will poke past the fender on a stock-height R1S.
Trim and motor configuration do not affect the bolt-on architecture. The Adventure and Explore trims, the Dual-Motor and Quad-Motor drivetrains, and the Performance variants all share the same 5x139.7 hub spec and the same stock-height offset window. The variable is brake package, which the larger Performance and Quad-Motor variants carry over from the base R1S without changing the wheel fitment box.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Rivian R1S
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the R1S fitment rows:
- R1S Stock Height (2022 and up): 5x139.7 bolt pattern, 65.1mm hub bore, M14x1.5 thread, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 20 to 22 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 8.5 to 9.5 inch. Square (non-staggered) fitment.
- R1S Off-Road Fitment with 33" Tires (2022 and up): 5x139.7 bolt pattern, 65.1mm hub bore, M14x1.5 thread, 5 lug. Element aftermarket diameter range: 20 to 22 inch. Element aftermarket width range: 8.5 to 9 inch. Square fitment. Offset window shifts more aggressive (lower numerical offset) to clear the 33 inch tire under full suspension travel.
Offset windows depend on whether the build is stock height or off-road. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific R1S (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the R1S wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
How We Confirm Fitment on Rivian R1S Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including both R1S fitment rows. For the R1S that means clearance from the wheel to the fender at multiple air-suspension ride heights, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension and motor housing, brake caliper height across the Dual-Motor and Quad-Motor variants, hub bore confirmation at 65.1mm, lug nut height (M14x1.5 thread), and turning clearance with the 33 inch tire installed for off-road builds. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Rivian R1S Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Rivian R1S?
Every Rivian R1S from 2022 and up runs 5x139.7 with a 65.1mm hub bore. The imperial nickname for this pattern is 5x5.5 because 139.7mm equals 5.5 inches. The lug count is 5 and the thread pitch is M14x1.5. The R1S shares the same bolt pattern and hub spec as the R1T pickup because both Rivians use the same skateboard EV chassis.
Do Ram 1500 wheels fit a Rivian R1S?
The bolt pattern matches. Both the Ram 1500 and the R1S use 5x139.7 (the truck-class 5x5.5 pattern). What does not cross is hub bore and offset window. The R1S runs a 65.1mm hub bore. The Ram 1500 runs a larger hub. A Ram 1500 wheel that is hub-centric to its own truck will sit hub-piloted but not hub-centric on the R1S unless a step-down adapter is used. The offset windows differ as well, so we measure the R1S fitment separately. Some Ram 1500 wheels will fit the R1S with confirmed offset and a hub adapter, but the matchup is not automatic.
Will R1T wheels fit an R1S?
Yes. The R1T pickup and R1S SUV share the same Rivian skateboard EV chassis, the same 5x139.7 bolt pattern, the same 65.1mm hub bore, and the same stock-height offset window. Wheels cross between the two Rivians without modification. If you have an R1T and an R1S in the same household, the wheels are interchangeable.
Are Rivian R1S wheels staggered?
No. The R1S ships square (same width front and rear) from the factory and the aftermarket sticks to square as well. The Rivian skateboard EV platform is engineered for tire rotation, which demands square fitment. Off-road and overlander builds running 33 inch tires also stay square.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on an R1S?
Our measured aftermarket window on the R1S tops at 22 inch diameter. Most aftermarket R1S buyers land at 20 or 22 inch with an EV-rated tire that handles the weight of the battery pack. 20 inch is the floor and the preferred diameter for off-road builds running 33 inch all-terrain tires. Above 22 inch the sidewall thins enough that the ride quality drops sharply on a three-row SUV carrying battery weight.
Does the Quad-Motor or Performance trim change the wheel I can buy?
No. The Dual-Motor, Quad-Motor, and Performance variants all share the same 5x139.7 bolt pattern, the same 65.1mm hub bore, and the same stock-height offset window. The Adventure and Explore trims do not change the wheel fitment box either. The variable is brake package, which scales up on the Performance and Quad-Motor variants without changing the bolt-on architecture. A wheel that fits a Dual-Motor R1S will fit a Quad-Motor R1S, and vice versa.
Why does the off-road fitment with 33 inch tires use a different offset window?
A 33 inch tire is significantly taller and wider than the stock R1S tire. To clear the 33 inch tire at full lock and under full air-suspension travel, the wheel needs to sit further inboard, which shifts the offset window to a lower (more aggressive) range. The bolt pattern and hub bore do not change, but the offset does. We track the off-road 33 inch fitment as a separate row so the Year/Make/Model search returns only wheels that have been measured against the 33 inch tire build. The stock-height offset window will not clear the larger tire and the off-road offset will poke past the fender on a stock-height R1S.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Rivian R1S?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 65.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
