Find Your Saturn Astra Generation

The 2008-2009 Astra is the only Saturn Astra generation sold in the US. It is the Opel Astra H (the third generation Opel Astra), rebadged for the US market and imported from GM's Belgian factory. Every US trim (XE 3-door, XE 5-door, XR 5-door) shares the same hub. Production ended in 2009 when GM wound the Saturn brand down.

The Saturn Astra Bolt Pattern

The 2008-2009 Astra uses a 5x110 bolt pattern with a 65.1mm hub bore and an M12x1.5 lug thread. 5x110 is the European compact pattern that came over from the Opel Astra H hardware. The same 5x110 / 65.1mm hub appears on the Saturn Aura midsize (GM Epsilon platform), the Saturn Ion Red Line (Delta platform with the supercharged hub upgrade), the Chevrolet Cobalt SS (2005-2010), the Chevrolet HHR (2006-2011), and the Saturn Sky on the Kappa roadster platform. Inside the broader era this is the small front wheel drive performance pattern across multiple GM platforms.

Important distinction: the Astra is 5x110, and is not the same as 5x114.3. The two are different bolt patterns and sit about 4.3mm apart on the hub circle. A 5x114.3 wheel will not start on a 5x110 hub. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers only to 5x114.3 (114.3mm equals 4.5 inch) and does not apply to the Astra. Also, the base Saturn Ion (2003-2007 non-Red Line) is a 4x100 4-lug hub, not 5x110, so Astra wheels do not cross over to a base Ion. Confirm any wheel listing says 5x110 before ordering. Astra Trim Differences and Measured Fitment

The Astra keeps the same hub geometry across every US trim and model year. XE 3-door, XE 5-door, and XR 5-door all share the same 5x110 bolt pattern, 65.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug thread, and brake package on the catalog. The XR adds sport suspension tuning and the larger 17 inch factory wheel versus the XE 16 inch factory wheel, but the fitment geometry stays the same. A wheel that fits a 2008 Astra XE also fits a 2008 Astra XR.

The diameter window we measure runs 16 inch on the low end up to 20 inch on the show-build end. 17 to 18 inch is the most common Astra aftermarket choice for everyday driving and is also what most XR trims came on from the factory. 19 to 20 inch is the show-build choice. Above 20 inch on the Astra body the tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops and the bigger wheel starts to pick up potholes the way the European-tuned Astra suspension was never set up to absorb on US roads.

For the Astra that means hub bore confirmation at 65.1mm, clearance from the wheel to the fender on the European-spec Astra H body, gap between the back of the wheel and the strut on this front wheel drive layout, brake caliper height at the factory spec, lug seat depth on the 5-lug pattern, and lug thread confirmation at M12x1.5. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
