Toyota Highlander Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Toyota Highlander is one of the highest-volume three-row crossover platforms on the road and a steady aftermarket wheel and rim seller in our catalog. The bolt pattern has stayed constant across every generation since launch. From the XU20 (2001-2007) through the current XU70 (2020 and up), the Highlander runs 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore. Element Wheels measures fitment on all four generations, tracks the Hybrid powertrain across the XU20, XU40, XU50, and XU70 years, and flags the XU70 TRD sport-package window where front-brake clearance gets tighter. The Highlander shares its 5x114.3 / 60.1mm spec with the Toyota Camry, RAV4, Sienna, and most of the modern Toyota lineup, but offset windows and brake packages are specific to the Highlander chassis. Pick your generation below for the wheel and rim recommendations that apply to your specific car.

Find Your Toyota Highlander Generation

Pick your generation to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Highlander. The bolt pattern is 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore on every Highlander from launch through the current XU70. The fitment window changes by generation as the wheel diameter steps up from 16 inch (early XU20) to 22 inch (XU70 aftermarket ceiling).

The Toyota Highlander Bolt Pattern

Every Toyota Highlander built since the platform launched in 2001 uses 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore. That covers the XU20 (2002-2007), the XU40 (2008-2013), the XU50 (2014-2019), and the current XU70 (2020 and up). The pattern is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial; 5x4.5 refers ONLY to 5x114.3 (114.3mm = 4.5 inches). It does NOT refer to 5x115, which is a different bolt pattern used on Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, and similar American sedans. The two patterns sit about 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable. A 5x115 wheel will not bolt onto a Highlander.

The 5x114.3 / 60.1mm combination is the Toyota family hub spec. It is shared with the Camry, RAV4, Sienna, Avalon, and most modern Toyota cars and crossovers. Wheels listed for any 5x114.3 / 60.1mm Toyota physically bolt to the Highlander on hub geometry. What changes between platforms is the offset window, the brake clearance, and the fender room, so a wheel built for a Camry will not always sit correctly on a Highlander even though the bolt math matches. We measure each platform separately. One thing worth flagging for shoppers: the Toyota Grand Highlander (2024 and up) is a SEPARATE platform with a different bolt pattern (5x120). The Highlander and Grand Highlander are not interchangeable for wheels and rims. Compare across the rest of the Toyota lineup at our Toyota wheels and rims hub.

Highlander Trim Differences That Matter for Wheel Fitment

Most Highlander trims share the same fitment window within a generation. LE, XLE, Limited, and Platinum on a given XU40, XU50, or XU70 all use 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore and run square (same width front and rear). The Highlander has been a front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive crossover across every generation, never rear-wheel-drive, and the AWD trims share the same bolt pattern, hub bore, and aftermarket wheel diameter window as the front-wheel-drive trims of the same year. Drivetrain is not a fitment-box axis on the Highlander.

The Highlander Hybrid has been available since the XU20 era (2006 launch) and is offered on every generation since. The hybrid powertrain shares the same bolt pattern, hub bore, and fitment window as the gasoline Highlander of the same generation and trim. The added battery weight does not change wheel fitment. A wheel that fits a gasoline XU50 Limited fits a hybrid XU50 Limited. The Highlander XSE and Sport trims on the XU70 run a sport-appearance package with revised exterior trim and unique wheel design. Bolt pattern, hub bore, and brake package match the rest of the XU70 range per our catalog data, so the bolt-on fitment math is the same as a base LE or XLE.

How We Confirm Fitment on Toyota Highlander Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every Highlander generation back to the XU20. For the Highlander that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation on the 60.1mm Toyota family hub, lug seat geometry, and turning clearance at full lock with the wheel and tire installed. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Toyota Highlander Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Toyota Highlander?

5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore on every Toyota Highlander from the XU20 (2001-2007) through the current XU70 (2020 and up). The pattern is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial. The bolt pattern has not changed across any of the four Highlander generations.

Will Highlander wheels fit a Toyota Camry or RAV4?

Bolt pattern crosses; fitment does not always cross. The Highlander, Camry, RAV4, Sienna, and Avalon all share 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore, so the wheels physically bolt up. But fender clearance, brake clearance, ride height, and the factory tire diameter are different on each platform. A wheel that sits nicely on a Camry will often look tucked or tuck too far on a Highlander, and a Highlander wheel may rub a Camry. Match the wheel listing to your specific Toyota model and year. We measure each platform separately.

Does the Highlander Hybrid use different wheels than the gasoline Highlander?

No. The Highlander Hybrid (available across every generation since the XU20 facelift in 2006) shares the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 60.1mm hub bore, brake package, and fitment window as the gasoline Highlander of the same generation and trim. The hybrid powertrain does not change wheel fitment. A wheel that fits a gasoline XU70 XLE fits a hybrid XU70 XLE.

Highlander XSE or Sport: do they run different wheels than a base Highlander?

The XSE and Sport share the same 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 60.1mm hub bore, and brake package as the rest of the XU70 range per our catalog data. They differ from a base LE or XLE in exterior trim and unique factory wheel design, not in wheel fitment specs. The bolt-on fitment math is the same.

Are Toyota Highlander wheels staggered?

No. Every Highlander generation from the XU20 through the XU70 runs square (same width front and rear) from the factory. The Highlander is a front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive crossover across every generation. A square setup also keeps tire rotation simple, which matters on a family hauler.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Toyota Highlander?

Our measured aftermarket window tops at 22 inch across every Highlander generation from the XU20 forward. Most aftermarket Highlander upgrades land at 18, 20, or 22 inch and pick width and offset for the look. Above 22 inch, the tire becomes difficult to source for a crossover load rating and the fender clearance margin under suspension travel disappears.

Is the Toyota Grand Highlander the same fitment as the Highlander?

No. The Toyota Grand Highlander (2024 and up) is a separate platform with a different bolt pattern. The Grand Highlander runs 5x120 with a 60.1mm hub bore. The standard Highlander runs 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore. A Highlander wheel will not bolt onto a Grand Highlander, even though both are three-row Toyota crossovers from the same era. Confirm which one you have before ordering.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Toyota Highlander?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 60.1mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
