Toyota Mirai Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Toyota Mirai is Toyota's hydrogen fuel cell sedan, sold in California volume in the US market and offered through select Lexus and Toyota dealers in states with hydrogen refueling infrastructure. The Mirai launched globally in 2014 and reached the US for the 2016 model year. It has run for two generations on two different platforms. The 1st gen Mirai (2016-2020) is a smaller front wheel drive sedan on a dedicated fuel cell vehicle platform, with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern and a 60.1mm hub bore. The 2nd gen Mirai (2021-2024) is a larger rear wheel drive sedan on Toyota's TNGA-L architecture, the same chassis family as the Lexus LS, with a 5x120 bolt pattern and a 60.1mm hub bore. The bolt pattern changes between generations, so generation selection matters more on the Mirai than on most Toyota cars. Both gens use M12x1.5 lug studs. Element Wheels measures both Mirai generations directly. Pick your generation below for the fitment specs that apply to your specific Mirai.

Find Your Toyota Mirai Generation

Pick your generation to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Mirai. The bolt pattern is different between the two generations. The 1st gen (2016-2020) is 5x114.3, the same pattern used across the Toyota Camry, RAV4, and Sienna family. The 2nd gen (2021-2024) is 5x120, a different pattern that reflects the TNGA-L architecture the 2nd gen shares with the Lexus LS. Centerbore is 60.1mm on both.

The Toyota Mirai Bolt Pattern by Generation

The 1st gen Mirai (2016-2020) uses 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore. The pattern is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial because 114.3mm equals 4.5 inches exactly. 5x4.5 refers ONLY to 5x114.3. It does NOT refer to 5x115, which is a different bolt pattern used on Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, and similar American sedans. The two patterns sit about 0.7mm apart on the bolt circle and are not interchangeable. A 5x115 wheel will not bolt onto a 1st gen Mirai. The 1st gen shares 5x114.3 / 60.1mm with the broader Toyota family including the Camry, RAV4, Sienna, and Avalon, so the bolt math and hub bore match. Width and offset are platform-specific to the 1st gen Mirai's FCV chassis and still measured separately.

The 2nd gen Mirai (2021-2024) uses 5x120 with a 60.1mm hub bore. 5x120 is a different bolt pattern, most commonly seen on BMW models. The change reflects the new platform under the 2nd gen: TNGA-L, the rear biased architecture Toyota uses for the Lexus LS family. The 2nd gen Mirai is rear wheel drive (the 1st gen was front wheel drive), and the platform change carried a bolt pattern change with it. The two Mirai generations do NOT share wheels even though both wear the same nameplate. A 1st gen wheel will not bolt to a 2nd gen, and a 2nd gen wheel will not bolt to a 1st gen. Confirm your model year before ordering.

Both Mirai generations use M12x1.5 lug studs. The centerbore is 60.1mm on both. Compare across the rest of the Toyota lineup at our Toyota wheels and rims hub.

Why the 2nd Gen Mirai Runs 5x120

Toyota redesigned the Mirai for the 2021 model year as a larger, more premium rear wheel drive sedan on TNGA-L, the same architecture family that sits under the Lexus LS. The redesign repositioned the Mirai upmarket. Longer wheelbase, rear drive layout, bigger wheels from the factory. The 5x120 bolt pattern came with the platform. 5x120 is not a typical Toyota family pattern, but it matches the segment the 2nd gen Mirai occupies, where larger luxury sedans with rear drive routinely run 5x120 from a variety of manufacturers. Within the catalog the 2nd gen Mirai's 5x120 / 60.1mm spec is distinct from every other Toyota model in the lineup.

Customers shop wheels for the 2nd gen Mirai for two main reasons. Looks first. The redesign delivered a sleeker sedan profile and the factory wheels are large diameter to begin with (19 or 20 inch depending on trim), so aftermarket choices are about style, finish, and a tighter or more aggressive stance rather than a major diameter jump. Performance second. The hydrogen fuel cell stack pushes torque to the rear wheels through an electric motor, and unsprung weight at each corner reduces directly into responsiveness. Lighter aftermarket wheels make the most of the electric drive characteristics.

The 1st gen Mirai is a different car. Front wheel drive, smaller diameter wheels from the factory (17 inch base), narrower body, dedicated FCV chassis. The 1st gen aftermarket window stays close to factory diameter (17-19 inch range) to preserve the smaller sedan's ride and handling balance.

How We Confirm Fitment on Toyota Mirai Wheels

Element Wheels measures both Mirai generations directly. For the Mirai that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height, hub bore confirmation, lug seat geometry, lug thread confirmation, and turning clearance at full lock. We treat the 1st gen and the 2nd gen as separate platforms because they share no chassis, no drivetrain layout, and no bolt pattern. The 1st gen sits on a dedicated front wheel drive FCV platform. The 2nd gen sits on TNGA-L with rear drive. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Toyota Mirai Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on a Toyota Mirai?

The bolt pattern changes between generations. The 1st gen Mirai (2016-2020) uses 5x114.3 with a 60.1mm hub bore. The 2nd gen Mirai (2021-2024) uses 5x120 with a 60.1mm hub bore. Both gens use M12x1.5 lug studs. The 5x114.3 pattern is also written as 5x4.5 in imperial (114.3mm = 4.5 inches). Confirm your model year before ordering.

Why does the 2nd gen Mirai use a different bolt pattern than the 1st gen?

Toyota redesigned the Mirai for 2021 as a larger rear wheel drive sedan on TNGA-L, the same architecture family that sits under the Lexus LS. The 1st gen was a smaller front wheel drive sedan on a dedicated fuel cell platform. The platform change brought the bolt pattern change. 5x120 is the pattern that ships on TNGA-L for the Mirai. The two Mirai generations are different cars under the same nameplate, and their wheels are not interchangeable.

Will Camry or Avalon wheels fit my Mirai?

Only on the 1st gen Mirai. The 1st gen (2016-2020) shares 5x114.3 / 60.1mm with the Camry and Avalon, so the bolt math and hub bore match. Width and offset still need to be checked against the 1st gen Mirai's FCV chassis. On the 2nd gen Mirai (2021-2024), the bolt pattern is 5x120, which does not match the Camry or Avalon. A 5x114.3 wheel will not bolt to a 2nd gen Mirai.

Will 1st gen Mirai wheels fit my 2nd gen Mirai (or the other way around)?

No. The 1st gen is 5x114.3 and the 2nd gen is 5x120. The bolt patterns do not interchange. The two Mirai generations are different cars on different platforms, and the wheels do not move between them. A 1st gen factory wheel will not bolt to a 2nd gen, and a 2nd gen factory wheel will not bolt to a 1st gen.

Are Toyota Mirai wheels staggered?

No. Both Mirai generations run square (same width front and rear) from the factory. The 1st gen is front wheel drive, the 2nd gen is rear wheel drive, but neither offers a staggered factory setup. Same wheel spec works on all four corners.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Mirai?

On the 1st gen Mirai (2016-2020), our measured aftermarket window tops at 19 inch. Factory 1st gen wheels are 17 inch. 18 inch is the most common aftermarket size on the 1st gen. On the 2nd gen Mirai (2021-2024), the window tops at 22 inch. Factory 2nd gen wheels are 19 or 20 inch depending on trim. 20-21 inch is the most common aftermarket choice on the 2nd gen.

Do I need hub centric rings on a Toyota Mirai?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than the factory 60.1mm hub bore. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific Toyota Mirai?

Two steps. Confirm your model year so you can identify your generation. 1st gen runs 2016-2020 on 5x114.3, 2nd gen runs 2021-2024 on 5x120. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Mirai (each listing shows its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you want to confirm offset and clearance before ordering, contact our team for a free fitment consultation. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
