Toyota Supra Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Toyota Supra has run across three modern generations with one critical bolt-pattern change in the middle. The Mk3 (1987-1992) and the legendary 2JZ-GTE-powered Mk4 (1993-1998) both ran 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5) with a 60.1mm hub bore on the Toyota chassis. The Mk5 GR Supra (2019 and up) moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore because it is built on the BMW Z4 chassis and shares that platform's wheel spec. This is the single most important Supra fitment fact: a wheel that fits a Mk4 does NOT bolt onto a Mk5, even though both wear a Supra badge. Element Wheels measures fitment on every Supra generation and tracks the Mk4 brake split (Base vs Turbo) and the Mk5 GR Supra split (2.0 base vs 3.0 Brembo) separately. Find your generation below and the fitment specs follow.
Find Your Toyota Supra Generation
Pick your year range to see wheels and rims that fit your specific Supra. The bolt pattern changes at the Mk5 transition (2019). The Mk3 and Mk4 ran 5x114.3. The Mk5 GR Supra moved to 5x112 on the BMW Z4 chassis. The wheels do not bolt across that transition.
The Toyota Supra Bolt Pattern Changed at the Mk5
The Mk3 (1987-1992) and Mk4 (1993-1998) Supra ran 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5) with a 60.1mm hub bore. That is the Toyota sports car standard of the era and matches a lot of period JDM hardware. When Toyota and BMW co-developed the Mk5 GR Supra on the BMW Z4 chassis, the bolt pattern moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore to match the BMW spec. The 2019 Mk5 transition is the most important Supra fitment fact in the catalog. A 5x114.3 wheel built for a Mk4 will not bolt onto a Mk5 GR Supra under any circumstances; the lug holes do not line up.
A note on cross-pattern confusion: 5x114.3 is NOT the same as the 5x115 pattern used on some American sedans. The two patterns sit roughly 0.7mm apart and are not interchangeable, even though the difference sounds tiny. The imperial nickname 5x4.5 refers ONLY to 5x114.3 (because 114.3mm = 4.5 inches exactly). The Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger LX, and similar 5-lug American sedans use the 5x115 pattern and those wheels will not fit a Mk4 Supra. Stick to wheels listed for 5x114.3 / 5x4.5 specifically. Compare across the rest of the Toyota lineup at our Toyota wheels and rims hub.
The wheel hardware also splits at the Mk5 transition. The Mk3 (A70, 1986-1992) and the Mk4 (A80, 1993-2002) use M12x1.5 lug nuts on permanent wheel studs. The Mk5 GR Supra (A90, 2020 and up) inherits the BMW Z4 G29 hardware spec: M14x1.25 lug BOLTS that thread directly into the hub, not lug nuts on studs. This matters during install. On the Mk5 GR Supra, the wheel has to be held in place while the bolt is threaded in, not hung on studs and secured with a nut. Reusing aftermarket lug hardware from an earlier Supra onto a Mk5 will not work. The hardware types are different.
Why the Generation and Brake Package Matter
Each Supra generation runs a different wheel window and a different brake clearance. The Mk3 (1987-1992) carries a 17 to 19 inch diameter window with optional staggered widths. The Mk4 (1993-1998) splits into Base Brakes and Turbo Brakes; the Turbo brake is bigger and tightens the inner clearance behind the front wheel face. The Mk5 GR Supra (2019 and up) splits into the 2.0 (Base Brakes, naturally aspirated four-cylinder on the early years) and the 3.0 (Brembo Brakes, B58 turbocharged inline six); the 3.0 with the Brembo package is must-staggered and runs a wider rear than front.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Toyota Supra
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the Supra generations:
- Mk3 Supra (1987-1992): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 60.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug NUTS on studs. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-19 inch. Aftermarket width: 7.5-8.5 inch front, 8.5-9.5 inch rear (optional staggered).
- Mk4 Supra Base Brakes (1993-1998): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 60.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug NUTS on studs. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16-20 inch. Aftermarket width: 8-9 inch front, 9-10 inch rear (optional staggered).
- Mk4 Supra Turbo Brakes (1993-1998): 5x114.3 bolt pattern, 60.1mm hub bore, M12x1.5 lug NUTS on studs. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch (the 16 inch is gone because the Turbo brake is taller). Aftermarket width: 8-9 inch front, 9-10 inch rear (optional staggered).
- Mk5 GR Supra 2.0 Base Brakes (2020 and up): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore, M14x1.25 lug BOLTS (BMW Z4 G29 spec). Element aftermarket diameter range: 18-20 inch. Aftermarket width: 8.5-10 inch front, 10-11 inch rear (must-staggered).
- Mk5 GR Supra 3.0 Brembo Brakes (2019 and up): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore, M14x1.25 lug BOLTS (BMW Z4 G29 spec). Element aftermarket diameter range: 19-20 inch (the 18 inch is gone for Brembo clearance). Aftermarket width: 8.5-10 inch front, 10-11 inch rear (must-staggered).
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Supra (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the Supra wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
The Mk5 GR Supra 3.0 with Brembo Brakes carries the tightest clearance window in the Supra family. The front brake hardware is large enough that the smallest aftermarket diameter that clears safely is 19 inch; an 18 inch wheel that fits a Mk5 2.0 will not always clear the 3.0 Brembo. We measure both Mk5 versions separately on the car.
How We Confirm Fitment on Toyota Supra Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every Supra generation back to the Mk3. For the Supra that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height (Base vs Turbo on the Mk4, Base vs Brembo on the Mk5), hub bore confirmation, lug seat depth, and turning clearance. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
That measurement work is what produced the chassis-specific and brake-specific fitment windows on this page. It is also why every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
Toyota Supra Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Toyota Supra?
It depends on the generation. The Mk3 (1987-1992) and Mk4 (1993-1998) Supra both ran 5x114.3 (also called 5x4.5) with a 60.1mm hub bore. The Mk5 GR Supra (2019 and up), which is built on the BMW Z4 chassis, moved to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. The wheels do not bolt across that transition.
Will my Mk4 Supra wheels fit a Mk5 GR Supra?
No. The Mk4 ran 5x114.3 on a Toyota chassis. The Mk5 GR Supra runs 5x112 on the BMW Z4 chassis. The lug holes do not line up. This is the single most common Supra cross-shopping mistake we see. If you are moving from a Mk4 to a Mk5, you need a new wheel set; the Mk4 wheels cannot bolt onto the Mk5 even with adapters that meet a safe stud load.
Mk4 Base vs Turbo: do the same wheels fit?
Bolt pattern and hub bore are the same (5x114.3 / 60.1mm). The diameter window changes. The Mk4 Turbo's larger front brake takes more inner clearance behind the wheel face, so our smallest measured Turbo fitment is 17 inch where the Base supports 16 inch. Width and offset windows are broadly similar between Base and Turbo on the same diameter, but a 16 inch wheel that fits a Base Mk4 will not clear the Turbo brake.
Mk5 GR Supra 2.0 vs 3.0 Brembo: do the same wheels fit?
Bolt pattern and hub bore are the same (5x112 / 66.56mm). What changes is the front brake clearance. The 3.0 Brembo package is large enough that 18 inch wheels that fit a 2.0 will not always clear the 3.0. Our measured aftermarket window starts at 19 inch on the 3.0 Brembo and 18 inch on the 2.0. Both Mk5 versions are must-staggered with a wider rear.
What lug hardware does my Supra use?
Mk3 (A70, 1986-1992) and Mk4 (A80, 1993-2002) Supras use M12x1.5 lug NUTS on permanent wheel studs. The Mk5 GR Supra (A90, 2020 and up) uses M14x1.25 lug BOLTS that thread directly into the hub, inherited from the BMW Z4 G29 chassis. Safety callout for Mk5 GR Supra owners: the wheel is held in place while the bolt is threaded, not hung on studs and secured with a nut on top. The install process is different. Older Supra lug hardware does NOT transfer to the Mk5.
Are Toyota Supra wheels staggered?
The Mk3 and Mk4 accept staggered as an option; most aftermarket Mk4 builds run a wider rear for the visual cue. The Mk5 GR Supra ships must-staggered from the factory with a noticeably wider rear, and we recommend keeping that setup. The Supra is a rear-drive car (the Mk5 GR Supra remains rear-drive even with its BMW underpinnings), so the rear axle carries the power and benefits from the wider tire.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Toyota Supra?
Our measured aftermarket window tops at 20 inch on the Mk4 and Mk5, and 19 inch on the Mk3. Above the measured window, tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops sharply on a sports car and you start risking curb damage on the lip. Most aftermarket Mk4 and Mk5 builds stop at 19 inch or 20 inch and pick width and offset for the look.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Toyota Supra?
On the Mk3 and Mk4, hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 60.1mm. On the Mk5 GR Supra, only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 66.56mm. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Toyota Supra?
Three steps. Confirm your generation (Mk3, Mk4, or Mk5 GR Supra) and your brake package on the Mk4 (Base or Turbo) or Mk5 (2.0 Base or 3.0 Brembo). Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific Supra (each listing shows its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you are not sure which configuration you have, our team can identify your exact car from your VIN. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
