Every XC90 from 2003 forward runs 5x108 (also expressed as 5x4.25) as its bolt pattern. The pattern stayed consistent across the 1st gen on the Volvo P2 platform (2003-2014) and the 2nd gen on the Volvo SPA platform (2016 and up). 5x108 is the standard Volvo bolt pattern across the broader Volvo range, used on the XC60, XC40, S60, V60, S90, and V90 of the same eras. Within the Volvo lineup, wheel cross-shopping by bolt pattern is straightforward as long as the centerbore also matches your specific XC90 hub. All XC90 lug hardware is M14x1.5 lug bolts threaded directly into the hub.

The hub bore is the spec to watch when cross-shopping XC90 fitment within the Volvo range. The 1st gen XC90 (2003-2014) uses a 67.1mm hub bore. The 2nd gen XC90 on the SPA platform (2016 and up) steps the hub bore down to 63.4mm, the same bore used on the modern XC60, S60, V60, S90, V90, and XC40. A 2nd gen XC90 wheel with a 63.4mm bore will not seat flush on a 1st gen XC90 hub. A 1st gen XC90 wheel with a 67.1mm bore will sit on a 2nd gen XC90 hub but the wheel will not be centered by the hub and will rely entirely on the lug bolts to center, which is not how Volvo designed the hub-centric fit. What 5x108 is NOT: it is not the same as 5x110 (common GM pattern) or 5x112 (common German pattern). A wheel built for those patterns will not bolt to an XC90. The 1st gen XC90 (2003-2014) was sold across a long production cycle with multiple engine options including the 2.5T inline-5, the T6 inline-6, the V8 (Yamaha-developed), and later the 3.2 inline-6. All trims share the same 5x108 / 67.1mm bolt pattern and hub bore. Factory wheel diameter on the 1st gen ran 17 to 19 inch depending on year and trim. The 2nd gen XC90 (2016 and up) on the Volvo SPA platform was sold in T5, T6, T8 (plug-in hybrid), and the early B5 and B6 mild-hybrid variants. All trims share the same 5x108 / 63.4mm bolt pattern and hub bore. The factory wheel diameter on the 2nd gen ran 19 to 22 inch depending on year and trim, with Inscription and R-Design trims pushing to the upper end of that window. The T8 plug-in hybrid carries the same wheel package as the gas T6 of the same year. Like most modern performance SUVs, the XC90 runs slightly larger front brake discs than rear. The XC90 brake package is sized comfortably within the standard aftermarket fitment window, so wheel clearance is not a tight constraint. All XC90 generations are square (non-staggered) front to rear.
