Acura SLX Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Acura SLX was Acura's first SUV, sold in the North American market from 1996 through 1999. The SLX is a body on frame full size SUV and was built by Isuzu on the same line as the 2nd gen Isuzu Trooper. Mechanically and structurally the SLX is the Trooper with Acura badging and the Acura trim level applied. That means the wheel interface follows Isuzu's truck and SUV pattern, not the Honda based passenger car patterns that the rest of the Acura lineup uses. The SLX runs 6x139.7 (the 6x5.5 imperial nickname, where 139.7mm equals 5.5 inches) with a 100mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread pitch, and 6 lug. This is the same wheel interface as the 1992-2003 Isuzu Trooper, the Isuzu Rodeo of the same era, and the broader mid size truck and SUV family on that pattern. The Acura SLX Bolt Pattern Is the Mid Size Truck Pattern

The SLX runs 6x139.7 with a 100mm hub bore, M12x1.5 thread pitch, and 6 lug. 6x139.7 is also referred to as 6x5.5 because 139.7mm equals 5.5 inches. The same pattern appears on the Isuzu Trooper (the SLX's mechanical twin), the Isuzu Rodeo, the Chevrolet Colorado, the GMC Canyon, the Toyota Tacoma of this era, the Toyota 4Runner of this era, and the Nissan Frontier of this era. 6x139.7 is one of the most widely shared bolt patterns in the mid size truck and SUV world. The 100mm hub bore and M12x1.5 thread pitch are consistent across the SLX run.

6x139.7 is a distinct pattern from 6x135 (the modern Ford F-150 6 lug pattern) and from 6x127 (the GMT360 SUV pattern used on the Trailblazer, Envoy, and Isuzu Ascender). The numerical gap is small visually but enough to stress the studs and prevent the wheel from hub centering correctly. A wheel listed as 6x135 or 6x127 will not safely bolt onto an Acura SLX. Confirm the pattern on the listing.

The SLX uses a different wheel interface from every other Acura model. The rest of the Acura lineup is Honda based and runs 4x114.3, 5x114.3, or 5x120 (on the ZDX/MDX) on smaller hub bores. The SLX, because it is the Isuzu Trooper rebadge, runs the truck pattern on the larger 100mm hub. A wheel from a TL, RL, MDX, or any other Acura will not bolt onto the SLX. Why the SLX Is the Isuzu Trooper Underneath, and Why the MDX Is Not

The 1996-1999 Acura SLX is the Isuzu built rebadge of the 2nd gen Isuzu Trooper. Honda's Acura division sold the SLX as its first SUV during the late 1990s and the trucks were built by Isuzu on the same line as the Trooper. Same body on frame chassis, same 6x139.7 bolt pattern, same 100mm hub bore, same M12x1.5 thread, same suspension geometry. Wheels measured against the Trooper of the matching year cross to the SLX of the same year. If you have an SLX and you find a Trooper wheel on the marketplace, the interface bolts up. If you find an MDX wheel, it does not.

The Acura MDX that arrived for the 2001 model year is not the SLX's successor at the wheel level. The MDX is a unibody Honda based crossover on a completely different platform. The 1st gen MDX runs 5x114.3 with a 64.1mm hub bore. The 2nd gen MDX moves to 5x120. Neither bolts onto an SLX. Acura's lineup shift from the body on frame Isuzu sourced SLX to the unibody in-house MDX is a complete platform reset, not an evolution. The two SUVs share the Acura logo and nothing else mechanical.

Within the Isuzu lineup, the SLX is the Trooper. The Rodeo (also Isuzu, same era) is the smaller mid size SUV and shares the 6x139.7 bolt pattern but runs a different fitment box. The Ascender that followed the Trooper in the Isuzu lineup is on a completely different platform (GMT360, 6x127) and is not related at the wheel level.
