The Audi A4 is Audi's executive compact sedan and wagon, sold across five modern generations: B5 (1996-2001), B6 (2002-2005), B7 (2006-2008), B8 (2009-2016), and the current B9 (2017 and up). The lineup also includes the A4 Avant wagon and the A4 Allroad lifted wagon variant that started in the B8 era. Quattro all wheel drive is standard on most A4 builds and the platform shares its 5x112 bolt pattern with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family. What changes across the generations is the centerbore: 57.1mm on the B5, B6, and B7 cars (1996-2008), and a larger 66.56mm on the B8 and B9 cars (2009 and up). The Audi A4 Bolt Pattern

Every modern A4 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. Audi runs bolts on its sedans, not studs and nuts the way most American and Asian platforms do. The lug bolt threads directly into the hub, the wheel sits between the head of the bolt and the hub face, and there is no lug stud to align the wheel before tightening. This makes a hub-centric fit more important on an A4 than on a stud-and-nut car. The bolt pattern has stayed 5x112 across B5, B6, B7, B8, and the current B9. The wrinkle is the centerbore. The B5 (1996-2001), B6 (2002-2005), and B7 (2006-2008) all ran a 57.1mm hub bore. The B8 (2009-2016) and B9 (2017 and up) moved to a larger 66.56mm hub bore. The bolt pattern is the same, but a wheel bored to 66.56mm will not sit hub-centric on a 57.1mm older A4 without hub rings to bridge the gap, and a wheel bored to 57.1mm will not fit over the larger 66.56mm hub at all.

The 5x112 bolt pattern is shared with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A3, A5, A6, A7, A8), the current Q5 and Q7, and the VW Group passenger-car siblings. It is NOT the same as the 5x130 pattern Audi used on the first generation Q7 SUV. The 5x112 / 66.56mm hub spec on the B8 and B9 A4 matches the wheel architecture on the C7 and C8 A6, so a wheel that fits a 2014 A6 of the right offset will often fit a 2014 A4. Why A4 Body Style and Brake Package Determine Wheel Fit

The A4 sedan, the A4 Avant wagon, and the A4 Allroad share the same bolt pattern and centerbore within a generation, but they do not share fitment cases. The Avant adds rear cargo body work that slightly changes the rear fender clearance compared to the sedan. The Allroad is a lifted wagon with a higher ride height, plastic body cladding around the wheel arches, and a different tire diameter window that shifts the offset we recommend. The Allroad appeared in the A4 lineup starting with the B8.5 (2013-2016) and continues on the B9 today. Brake packages also stack on top of body style: the 2017 and newer B9 A4 ships with larger factory front brakes than the B8, which tightens the offset clearance behind the wheel face. Quattro is standard on most A4 trims and FWD was available on some early B6 2.8 trims. Drivetrain does not change the bolt pattern, but it does shift the practical fitment recommendation slightly because Quattro AWD benefits from a square (non-staggered) setup. Important: the S4 (the warm performance variant) and the RS4 (the full performance variant) ship from the factory with different brake packages and different factory wheel sizes than the standard A4. They are tracked as their own catalog hubs because their fitment window does not match the standard A4.
