Audi A6 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Audi A6 is Audi's executive sedan and wagon, sold across four modern generations: C5 (1997-2004), C6 (2005-2011), C7 (2012-2018), and the current C8 (2019 and up). The lineup also includes the A6 Avant wagon and the A6 Allroad lifted wagon variant. Quattro all wheel drive is standard on most A6 builds and the platform shares its 5x112 bolt pattern with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family. What changes across the generations is the centerbore (57.1mm on the older C5 and C6, 66.56mm on the C7 and C8) and the diameter window. Pick your generation below for fitment specs. The high performance S6 and RS6 variants are tracked as separate hubs because they ship with different brake packages, factory staggered fitments, and tighter offset windows than the standard A6.

Find Your Audi A6 Generation

Pick your chassis to see wheels and rims that fit your specific A6. Bolt pattern is 5x112 across every generation. Centerbore steps from 57.1mm (C5, C6) to 66.56mm (C7, C8). The Avant wagon and the Allroad share the bolt pattern and centerbore of the sedan within the same generation. Most A6 builds run Quattro AWD; the early C5 had a front wheel drive option that does not change the bolt pattern.

The Audi A6 Bolt Pattern

Every modern A6 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts (Audi runs bolts, not studs and nuts). The pattern has stayed 5x112 across C5, C6, C7, and the current C8, which makes the A6 one of the more straightforward Audi platforms to shop for. The wrinkle is the centerbore. The C5 (1997-2004) and C6 (2005-2011) ran a 57.1mm hub bore. The C7 (2012-2018) and C8 (2019 and up) moved to a larger 66.56mm hub bore. The bolt pattern is the same, but a wheel bored to 66.56mm will not sit hub-centric on a 57.1mm older A6 without hub-centric rings to bridge the gap, and a wheel bored to 57.1mm will not fit over the larger 66.56mm hub at all.

The 5x112 bolt pattern is shared with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A3, A4, A5, A7, A8), the current Q5 and Q7, and the VW Group passenger-car siblings. It is NOT the same as the 5x130 pattern Audi used on the first generation Q7 SUV. The 5x112 / 66.56mm hub spec on the C7 and C8 A6 matches the wheel architecture on the C7 and C8 A7 sedan as well as the current A8, so a wheel that fits a 2014 A7 of the right offset will often fit a 2014 A6. Compare against the rest of the Audi lineup at our Audi wheels and rims hub.

Why A6 Body Style and Brake Package Determine Wheel Fit

The A6 sedan, the A6 Avant wagon, and the A6 Allroad share the same bolt pattern and centerbore within a generation, but they do not share fitment cases. The Avant adds rear cargo body work that slightly changes the rear fender clearance compared to the sedan. The Allroad is a lifted wagon with a higher ride height, more aggressive plastic cladding, and a different tire diameter window that shifts the offset we recommend. Brake packages also stack on top of body style. Base brakes ship on the 2.0T and 3.0T trims. The S Line option and larger trim packages move up to a wider front rotor, which tightens the offset clearance behind the wheel face. We measure each combination as its own catalog row.

Worth being clear: the S6 (the warm performance variant) and the RS6 (the full performance variant, including the current RS6 Avant) ship from the factory with a different brake package and a different factory wheel size than the standard A6. They are tracked as their own catalog hubs because their fitment window does not match the standard A6. If you have an S6 or RS6, use the dedicated S6 or RS6 wheel hub or contact us before ordering off the standard A6 page.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Audi A6

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the A6 generations:

  • C5 A6 (1997-2004): 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 16-19 inch. Aftermarket width range: 6.5-8.5 inch. Square fitment standard, staggered optional. Quattro standard on most trims; FWD available on some early 2.8 trims.
  • C6 A6 (2005-2011): 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7-9 inch. Square fitment standard, staggered optional. Includes the C6 Avant.
  • C7 A6 (2012-2018): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 17-20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7-9 inch. Square fitment standard, staggered optional. Includes the C7 Avant.
  • C8 A6 (2019 and up): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8-9.5 inch. Square fitment standard. Includes the C8 Avant and the C8 Allroad. The Allroad runs a slightly different tire diameter window because of its lifted ride height.

Offset windows are tightly controlled for the A6 brake clearance, especially on S Line trims and the C8 with larger factory rotors. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific A6 (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the A6 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

How We Confirm Fitment on Audi A6 Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every A6 generation back to the C5. For the A6 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height across the base, S Line, and larger trim packages, hub bore confirmation (57.1mm on C5 and C6, 66.56mm on C7 and C8), lug bolt seat depth, and the Allroad ride-height delta on the C8 wagon. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

Audi A6 Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on an Audi A6?

Every modern A6 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. The pattern has stayed the same across C5 (1997-2004), C6 (2005-2011), C7 (2012-2018), and the current C8 (2019 and up). The same 5x112 pattern is shared with most of the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A3, A4, A5, A7, A8) and the current Q5 and Q7 SUVs.

What is the centerbore on an Audi A6?

It depends on the generation. The C5 (1997-2004) and C6 (2005-2011) ran a 57.1mm hub bore. The C7 (2012-2018) and C8 (2019 and up) moved to a larger 66.56mm hub bore. The bolt pattern is the same 5x112 either way, but a wheel bored to 66.56mm will not sit hub-centric on a 57.1mm older A6 hub, and a wheel bored to 57.1mm will not fit over the larger 66.56mm hub at all. Always confirm the centerbore on the wheel matches your generation.

Are A6 Avant wagon wheels the same as A6 sedan wheels?

Within the same generation, generally yes. The Avant shares the sedan's 5x112 bolt pattern, hub bore, and front suspension geometry. The rear fender clearance is slightly different because of the wagon body work, so a few highly-poked aftermarket fitments that work on the sedan can sit a touch close to the rear wagon fender at full compression. We measure both as their own catalog rows. For most diameter and width choices, a wheel that fits an A6 sedan also fits the Avant of the same generation. The Allroad is the lifted-wagon variant and runs a slightly different fitment window because of its higher ride height; see the Allroad-specific notes below.

Does the Audi A6 Allroad need different wheels?

Same bolt pattern (5x112) and same hub bore as the A6 sedan and Avant of the same generation. The Allroad is the lifted-wagon variant and ships with a higher factory ride height, more aggressive tire diameter, and plastic body cladding around the wheel arches. That changes the practical aftermarket fitment window: most Allroad customers run a slightly taller tire diameter and a slightly more conservative offset than the standard sedan or Avant to keep the look in line with the factory stance. The wheels that fit a sedan will mostly bolt and clear, but the visual result is different.

Are Audi A6 wheels staggered?

Square is the default. The standard A6 ships square (non-staggered) from the factory because Quattro AWD benefits from the same wheel and tire size on every corner. Aftermarket staggered builds are optional on the A6, with a slightly wider rear, and we list them as catalog rows alongside the square fitments. The S6 and RS6 performance variants are tracked separately because they ship with mandatory staggered fitments and different brake clearance.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on an Audi A6?

It depends on the chassis. The C5 tops at 19 inch. The C6 takes 20 inch. The C7 opens up to 21 inch. The current C8 stretches the window further to 22 inch. 19 to 20 inch is the most common A6 aftermarket choice on the older chassis, and 20 to 21 inch is most common on the C7 and C8. Above the measured window, tire sidewall thins enough that ride quality drops and the wheel lip sits at higher curb-damage risk.

Do I need hub centric rings on an Audi A6?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than your factory hub (57.1mm on C5 and C6, 66.56mm on C7 and C8). If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

How do I find the right wheels for my specific Audi A6?

Confirm your chassis (C5, C6, C7, or C8) and your body style (sedan, Avant, or Allroad). The bolt pattern is 5x112 on every modern A6; the centerbore is 57.1mm on C5 and C6 and 66.56mm on C7 and C8. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific A6 (each listing publishes its own offset) and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you have an S6 or RS6, use the dedicated performance hub instead of this page. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
