Audi S4 Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The Audi S4 is the performance version of the A4, sold in modern form across the B6/B7 cars (2000-2008), the B8 (2009-2016), and the current B9 (2018 and up). The S4 sits on the same chassis as the standard A4 within each generation but ships from the factory with a more aggressive powertrain (supercharged 3.0T on the B8, turbocharged 3.0T on the B9), tighter offset windows, and larger factory front brakes from the B8 forward. The full-performance RS4 is tracked as its own hub because it ships with a different brake package and even tighter fitment than the S4. Every modern S4 runs a 5x112 bolt pattern with M14x1.5 lug bolts. Centerbore changes across the lineup: 57.1mm on the 2000-2008 cars, 66.56mm from 2009 forward. Pick your generation below for the fitment specs.

Find Your Audi S4 Generation

Pick your chassis to see wheels and rims that fit your specific S4. Bolt pattern is 5x112 across every modern generation. Centerbore steps from 57.1mm (2000-2008 cars) to 66.56mm (2009 and up). The factory brake package also steps up from the B7 to the B8, which tightens the offset window from the B8 forward.

The Audi S4 Bolt Pattern

Every modern S4 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. Audi runs bolts on its sedans, not studs and nuts the way most American and Asian platforms do. The lug bolt threads directly into the hub, the wheel sits between the head of the bolt and the hub face, and there is no lug stud to align the wheel before tightening. The bolt pattern has stayed 5x112 across the 2000-2008 cars, the B8 (2009-2016), and the current B9 (2018 and up). The wrinkle is the centerbore. The 2000-2008 S4 ran a 57.1mm hub bore. The B8 (2009-2016) and B9 (2018 and up) moved to a larger 66.56mm hub bore. The bolt pattern is the same, but a wheel bored to 66.56mm will not sit hub-centric on a 57.1mm older S4 without hub rings to bridge the gap, and a wheel bored to 57.1mm will not fit over the larger 66.56mm hub at all.

The 5x112 bolt pattern is shared with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8), the current Q5 and Q7, and the VW Group passenger-car siblings. It is NOT the same as the 5x130 pattern Audi used on the first generation Q7 SUV. The 5x112 / 66.56mm hub spec on the B8 and B9 S4 matches the wheel architecture on the same-generation A4 and A5, but the S4's brake package and offset window tighten the practical fitment compared to the base A4. Compare against the rest of the Audi lineup at our Audi wheels and rims hub.

Why the S4 Generation and Brake Package Determine Wheel Fit

The S4 ships with a larger factory front brake than the rest of the A4 lineup from the B8 forward. That is the normal configuration on a performance sedan, where the front brake handles the bulk of the braking force and gets the bigger caliper and rotor. The practical consequence for wheels is that the minimum aftermarket diameter on the B8 and B9 S4 sits at 19 inch (vs 17 inch on the base A4) and the offset window is tighter because the caliper face sits closer to the back of the wheel. Quattro AWD is standard on every modern S4. Drivetrain is not a fitment variable on the S4 because every car is AWD, but the square (non-staggered) factory fitment is consistent with the Quattro setup.

Suspension changes the practical fitment window on the B9. The base steel-spring B9 S4 runs the catalog offset and width window. The B9 S4 with the optional Air Suspension package runs slightly wider wheels (9.5 to 10 inch) with a slightly more aggressive offset. B9 owners running lowered springs sometimes pick a slightly more aggressive offset than the steel-spring stock car too. We catalog these as their own fitment rows because the suspension geometry under the wheel matters more here than it does on the lighter A4.

Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Audi S4

Publishable factory and wheel specs across the S4 generations:

  • S4 Quattro (2000-2008): 5x112 bolt pattern, 57.1mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 18 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5 to 9 inch. Square fitment standard. Smaller factory brake than the later B8.
  • B8 S4 AWD (2009-2016): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 7.5 to 9 inch. Square fitment standard. Larger factory front brake than the standard B8 A4.
  • B9 S4 (2018-2019): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 18 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8 to 9 inch. Square fitment standard.
  • B9 S4 (2020-2025): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 18 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8 to 9 inch. Square fitment standard.
  • B9 S4 (Air Suspension): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 19 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 9.5 to 10 inch. Tighter offset window than the steel-spring car.
  • B9 S4 (Lowering Springs): 5x112 bolt pattern, 66.56mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 18 to 20 inch. Aftermarket width range: 9 to 9.5 inch. Tighter offset window than the stock-height car.

Offset windows are tightly controlled on the S4 because of the brake clearance and the wider rear track on the B9. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:

  • 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific S4 (each listing shows its own offset).
  • 2. Browse the S4 wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
  • 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.

How We Confirm Fitment on Audi S4 Wheels

Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every modern S4 generation. For the S4 that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension, brake caliper height across the B7-to-B8 brake upgrade, hub bore confirmation (57.1mm on 2000-2008 cars, 66.56mm on B8 and B9), lug bolt seat depth, and the suspension-variant deltas on the B9 (steel spring vs air vs lowered). At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.

Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.

Audi S4 Wheels and Rims FAQ

What is the bolt pattern on an Audi S4?

Every modern S4 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. The pattern has stayed the same across the 2000-2008 cars, the B8 (2009-2016), and the current B9 (2018 and up). The same 5x112 pattern is shared with the rest of the modern Audi sedan family (A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8) and the current Q5 and Q7 SUVs. Audi runs lug bolts, not studs and nuts, on the S4.

What is the centerbore on an Audi S4?

It depends on the generation. The 2000-2008 S4 ran a 57.1mm hub bore. The B8 (2009-2016) and B9 (2018 and up) moved to a larger 66.56mm hub bore. The bolt pattern is the same 5x112 either way, but a wheel bored to 66.56mm will not sit hub-centric on a 57.1mm older S4 hub, and a wheel bored to 57.1mm will not fit over the larger 66.56mm hub at all. Always confirm the centerbore on the wheel matches your generation.

Will A4 wheels fit my S4?

Same chassis means same bolt pattern (5x112) and same hub bore within a generation (57.1mm on the older cars, 66.56mm on B8 and B9). The wheels bolt across. What does not always cross is offset and brake clearance. The S4 ships from the factory with a larger front brake than the standard A4 from the B8 forward, so an A4 wheel with a deeper offset can sit too close to the S4 front caliper. Practical answer: an OEM or aftermarket A4 wheel sized for the same diameter range will usually bolt up and clear, but verify the offset against our measured S4 window before you commit.

Are RS4 wheels the same as S4 wheels?

Same chassis family and same 5x112 bolt pattern, but the RS4 brake package is bigger than the S4 brake package and the RS4 ships with a more aggressive factory offset and wider wheel. RS4 OEM wheels will bolt onto an S4, but the offset and width are intended for the wider RS4 fenders and the larger RS4 brake. They can rub on an S4 without bodywork. We track the RS4 as its own fitment hub for this reason. If you have an RS4, use the RS4 hub. If you have an S4 and want the RS4 wheel look, talk to our team to confirm offset and clearance before ordering.

Does Air Suspension or lowered springs change the wheel choice on a B9 S4?

Yes, slightly. The bolt pattern, hub bore, and lug spec do not change. What changes is the practical width and offset window. The base steel-spring B9 S4 runs the standard 8 to 9 inch aftermarket width. With Air Suspension or with lowered springs, the suspension geometry pulls the wheel inboard slightly at ride height, so we recommend 9 to 10 inch widths with a slightly more aggressive offset to keep the wheel face flush with the fender. We catalog these as separate fitment rows so the recommendation matches the suspension you actually have.

Are Audi S4 wheels staggered?

Square is standard on every modern S4. The Quattro AWD system benefits from the same wheel and tire size on every corner, and the factory configures the S4 that way across every generation we catalog. Aftermarket S4 builds occasionally go staggered for the look, but a square setup is the recommended configuration and the one we measure against.

What is the largest wheel I can fit on an Audi S4?

20 inch is the top of our measured aftermarket window on every S4 generation. 19 inch is the most common B8 and B9 aftermarket choice and 18 inch is the floor on the B9 (the B8 also clears 18 inch with the right offset). 19 to 20 inch is where most aftermarket builds land because that matches the factory size on the higher trims and gives the wheel face enough room to clear the larger S4 front brake.

Do I need hub centric rings on an Audi S4?

Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than your factory hub (57.1mm on 2000-2008 cars, 66.56mm on B8 and B9). If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.

Get Audi S4 Wheels Right the First Time

Pick your generation above to see wheels and rims that fit. We measure the S4 across the 2000-2008 cars, the B8 (2009-2016), and the current B9; track the larger factory front brake that lands on the B8 and continues on the B9; catalog the suspension-variant deltas (steel spring vs Air Suspension vs lowering springs) on the B9; and route RS4 owners to the dedicated RS4 hub to avoid mis-fits on offset and brake clearance. Find your fit and start enjoying your build sooner.
