The Audi S8 Bolt Pattern and Hub Bore Transition

Every modern S8 uses 5x112 with M14x1.5 lug bolts. The bolt pattern is the same as the A8 of the same generation, the rest of the modern Audi sedan family, and the broader VW Group passenger-car lineup. The centerbore changed once across the S8 history. The D3 S8 (2006-2010) ran a 57.1mm hub bore. The D4 S8 (2012-2018) and the current D5 S8 (2020 and up) both moved to 66.56mm. The transition matches what happened on the A8 platform at the same chassis change. A wheel built for a D3 S8 with a 57.1mm centerbore will not sit hub-centric on a D4 or D5. A wheel built for a D4 or D5 with a 66.56mm bore needs hub rings to sit hub-centric on a D3.

Audi runs lug bolts on its sedans, not studs and nuts. The lug bolt threads directly into the hub, the wheel sits between the head of the bolt and the hub face, and there is no fixed lug stud to align the wheel before tightening. That makes a hub-centric fit more important on the S8 than on a stud-and-nut car. Why the S8 Brake Package Determines Wheel Fit

The S8 ships with a performance brake package on every modern generation. Front brake is larger than rear, which is the standard configuration on a performance flagship of this caliber. The D4 S8 is the chassis where the brake split matters most for wheel fit: it shipped from the factory in two brake variants, the Steel Brake package and the Carbon Ceramic Brake package. Element Wheels measures both variants as separate fitments because the carbon ceramic rotor mounting hat takes more clearance behind the wheel face than the steel rotor. A wheel face that clears a Steel-braked D4 S8 may not clear the Carbon Ceramic variant. If you have a D4 S8 with carbon ceramics, confirm wheel face clearance before ordering. Square (non-staggered) is the standard configuration on every modern S8. Quattro AWD is standard on every S8 sold in the US, and the Audi Quattro system benefits from the same wheel and tire size on every corner. The measured aftermarket window puts the S8 at the same width front and rear in the recommended setup. Staggered aftermarket builds (slightly wider rear) are available as a choice on the D3, D4, and D5 but are not the factory default.
