BMW 2-Series Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The BMW 2-Series is BMW's entry coupe and convertible line. Element Wheels measures the 2-Series across three distinct chassis platforms: the F22 (2014-2021) rear wheel drive coupe and convertible on the older 3 Series related platform, the F44 Gran Coupe (2020 and up) four-door fastback on the MINI-derived front wheel drive platform, and the G42 (2022 and up) rear wheel drive coupe on the modern 3 Series related architecture. The two platform variations matter because they do not share a bolt pattern. The F22 runs 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore, in line with the legacy BMW 5x120 family. The F44 Gran Coupe and the G42 coupe both run 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore, matching BMW's broader chassis transition that took the G20 3 Series and the rest of the modern lineup off 5x120. The M2 is a separate refreshed hub. Pick your chassis and configuration below and the fitment specs follow.
Find Your BMW 2-Series Generation
Pick your chassis, brake package, and drivetrain to see wheels and rims that fit your specific 2-Series. The F22 (2014-2021) is a 5x120 / 72.56mm RWD coupe and convertible. The F44 Gran Coupe (2020 and up) is a 5x112 / 66.56mm FWD four-door fastback. The G42 (2022 and up) is a 5x112 / 66.56mm RWD coupe, and splits across two brake packages and two drivetrains. Looking for the M2? Visit the dedicated BMW M2 wheels and rims hub.

The BMW 2-Series Bolt Pattern and Platform Split
The 2-Series runs two bolt patterns across two distinct chassis platforms. The F22 (2014-2021) rear wheel drive coupe and convertible runs 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore and M14x1.25 lug bolts. 5x120 / 72.56mm is the legacy BMW pattern shared with the F30 3 Series, the E92 M3, the F32 4 Series, and the F87 M2. A wheel built for any of those cars will bolt to an F22 2-Series in pattern and centerbore. The G42 (2022 and up) rear wheel drive coupe moves to 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore, matching BMW's broader chassis transition. A 5x120 wheel built for an F22 will NOT bolt onto a G42, and a 5x112 wheel built for a G42 will not bolt onto an F22. The 2021 to 2022 break is the spec to get right on the rear wheel drive coupe.
The Gran Coupe is the other platform on this hub. The F44 Gran Coupe (2020 and up, sold as the 228i Gran Coupe and M235i Gran Coupe) is a four-door fastback built on the front wheel drive UKL2 platform shared with the BMW X1 and X2 and the modern MINI lineup. The Gran Coupe is mechanically and structurally a different car from the F22 and G42 coupes, even though it carries the 2-Series badge. The F44 Gran Coupe runs 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore and M14x1.25 lug bolts, in line with the broader front wheel drive BMW family. If you have a 2-Series Gran Coupe, use the Gran Coupe row in the catalog box below, not the coupe rows. Compare against the rest of the BMW lineup at our BMW wheels and rims hub.
Why G42 Brake Package and Drivetrain Change the Wheel Window
The G42 2-Series coupe (2022 and up) shipped in two brake packages and two drivetrains, which combine into four catalog variants we measure separately. The Base Brakes are the standard caliper on the 230i. Sport Brakes are the M-Sport optional upgrade, with a larger front caliper that sits closer to the wheel face. The Sport Brakes tighten the offset clearance window behind the wheel face. Element measures both. Drivetrain on the G42 is either RWD or xDrive (BMW's all wheel drive). RWD and xDrive share the same front aftermarket width window. Rear width window varies slightly because the xDrive rear axle is a different geometry than the RWD rear, but both accept staggered fitments within the published ranges. The M240i G42 ships with the Sport Brake package only and is tracked as its own catalog row because the M-tuned suspension settings differ from the standard 230i.
The F22 (2014-2021) coupe and convertible ships with optional staggered fitment, which is the typical aftermarket choice on this chassis. Square is also acceptable. The F44 Gran Coupe (2020 and up) ships square (same wheel and tire size on every corner) because it is a front wheel drive car, and square fitment is the standard configuration on front wheel drive platforms. Staggered builds on the F44 are not recommended. Front larger than rear brake configuration is standard on the G42 230i Sport Brake variants and the M240i, which is normal on a performance-oriented coupe of this caliber. The M235i Gran Coupe also ships with a larger front brake than the base 228i Gran Coupe because of the higher trim's performance positioning.

Offset windows are tightly controlled for the 2-Series brake clearance, especially on the Sport Brake variants. For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific 2-Series (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the 2-Series wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on BMW 2-Series Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including every 2-Series chassis and configuration. For the 2-Series that means clearance from the wheel to the fender, gap between the back of the wheel and the suspension (with extra attention to the FWD strut geometry on the F44 Gran Coupe), front and rear brake caliper height across Base Brakes and Sport Brakes on the G42, hub bore confirmation at 72.56mm on the F22 or 66.56mm on the F44 and G42, and lug bolt seat depth for M14x1.25 bolts. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do.
BMW 2-Series Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a BMW 2-Series?
It depends on the chassis. The F22 2-Series RWD coupe and convertible (2014-2021) runs 5x120 with a 72.56mm hub bore and M14x1.25 lug bolts. The F44 Gran Coupe FWD (2020 and up) and the G42 2-Series RWD coupe (2022 and up) both run 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore and the same M14x1.25 lug bolts. A 5x120 wheel will not bolt onto an F44 or G42, and a 5x112 wheel will not bolt onto an F22.
Coupe vs Gran Coupe: how do I tell them apart?
Count the doors. The 2-Series coupe (F22 and G42) is a two-door car. The 2-Series Gran Coupe (F44) is a four-door fastback. The two are mechanically different cars even though they share the 2-Series badge. The coupes are rear wheel drive and built on the 3 Series related platform. The Gran Coupe is front wheel drive and built on the MINI-derived UKL2 platform shared with the X1 and X2. Wheel fitment crosses only inside each platform, not between them. Use the platform row in the catalog box on this page that matches your car.
F22 vs G42: what changes for wheels?
Bolt pattern and centerbore both change. The F22 runs 5x120 / 72.56mm. The G42 runs 5x112 / 66.56mm. The G42 also tops at 20 inch in our measured window where the F22 tops at 19 inch. The G42 adds xDrive AWD as a drivetrain option and Sport Brakes as an upgraded caliper. Each chassis needs its own wheel set. The 2021 to 2022 break is the spec to get right on the rear wheel drive coupe.
What changes between G42 Base Brakes and Sport Brakes?
Sport Brakes carry a larger front caliper that sits closer to the wheel face than the Base Brakes. The published diameter and width window is the same on both. What changes is the offset clearance behind the wheel face: Sport Brakes need more inner-barrel clearance and a tighter offset window than Base Brakes. Element measures both. The M240i G42 ships with Sport Brakes standard.
Are BMW 2-Series wheels staggered?
Optional staggered on the F22 (2014-2021) coupe and convertible and on every G42 (2022 and up) coupe variant. Square is also acceptable. Staggered is the typical aftermarket choice on the rear wheel drive coupes. The F44 Gran Coupe (2020 and up) ships square and we recommend staying square on that platform because the Gran Coupe is front wheel drive.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a 2-Series?
Our measured window tops at 19 inch on the F22 (2014-2021), 20 inch on the F44 Gran Coupe (2020 and up), and 20 inch on the G42 (2022 and up). 18 to 20 inch is the most common aftermarket choice on the G42 and M240i. Above the measured window the tire becomes hard to source for an entry coupe of this size and the ride quality drops as the sidewall thins.
Do I need hub centric rings on a BMW 2-Series?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than your factory hub. That is 72.56mm on the F22 and 66.56mm on the F44 Gran Coupe and the G42. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific BMW 2-Series?
Confirm your chassis (F22, F44 Gran Coupe, or G42). On the G42, confirm RWD vs xDrive and Base Brakes vs Sport Brakes. Bolt pattern is 5x120 / 72.56mm on the F22 and 5x112 / 66.56mm on the F44 and G42. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific 2-Series and browse the wheel gallery for real-life builds. If you have an M2, use the dedicated M2 hub instead of this page. Every wheel we recommend is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
