BMW X3 M Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The BMW X3 M is the F97 chassis, BMW M Division's compact performance SUV built from 2020 through 2024 around the S58 twin-turbo inline-six and the M-tuned xDrive driveline. It runs the 5x112 bolt pattern with a 66.56mm hub bore, which puts it in the same wheel family as the current X4 M, X5 M (F95), X6 M (F96), X7, G80 M3, G82 M4, F90 M5, and the rest of the current BMW M lineup. The XM is the lone holdout at 5x120, and the new G90 M5 went its own way at 5x132. The X3 M is a must-staggered fitment from the factory and Element measures it as a single platform with one fitment window covering both the standard car and the Competition variant.

BMW X3 M, One Chassis to Cover

The X3 M is a single-generation platform. The F97 chassis launched for the 2020 model year and finished production after 2024 (the 2025 X3 lineup moved to the G45 platform with the X3 M50 taking the M-Performance slot; no full M version of the G45 has been announced). The Element catalog covers the F97 X3 M as one fitment window across both the standard X3 M and the X3 M Competition. The Competition picks up more power and stiffer chassis tuning but rides on the same wheel spec.

The BMW X3 M Bolt Pattern

The X3 M runs 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That bolt pattern is shared across the current BMW M lineup: X4 M (F98), X5 M (F95), X6 M (F96), X7, G80 M3, G82 M4, F90 M5, and X4 M40i and X3 M40i M-Performance trims. Wheels designed for any of those platforms share the 5x112 lug spacing and the 66.56mm hub bore with the X3 M, though the offset and width that works on an X5 M or M3 is not the same as what works on an X3 M. The XM is the one current BMW M chassis that stays on 5x120, so XM wheels do not bolt to the X3 M. The new G90 M5 moved to 5x132 and is also incompatible.

The 5x112 / 66.56mm pattern is also the same one used across the broader modern BMW range (3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, Z4, X7), which means hub-centric rings sized for BMW will fit the X3 M correctly when an aftermarket wheel is bored larger than 66.56mm. Why the BMW X3 M Is a Must-Staggered Fitment

The X3 M ships with a wider rear wheel and tire than the front, and the M xDrive system is tuned around the staggered setup. The system is rear-biased by default and routes the bulk of the S58's torque to the rear axle, which is why BMW M specified the wider rear tire to put the power down. A square fitment is not something we recommend on the X3 M. The factory tuned the chassis around a staggered tire footprint, and our aftermarket window is also staggered front and rear.

Element's measured aftermarket window runs 20-22 inch diameter, with 9-10 inch widths up front and 10-11 inch widths at the rear. The 20-inch minimum is set by the M Compound front brake package (the optional M Carbon Ceramic upgrade carries the same clearance requirement); the caliper height does not fit under a 19-inch wheel.
