BMW X4 M Aftermarket Wheel Fitment

The BMW X4 M is the F98 chassis, BMW M Division's Sports Activity Coupe variant of the X3 M built around the S58 twin-turbo inline-six and the M-tuned xDrive driveline. It launched for the 2020 model year and is still in production through 2026. The X4 M runs the 5x112 bolt pattern with a 66.56mm hub bore, the same wheel family that covers the current X3 M (F97), X5 M (F95), X6 M (F96), X7, G80 M3, G82 M4, F90 M5, and the rest of the current BMW M lineup. The XM is the lone holdout at 5x120, and the new G90 M5 went its own way at 5x132. The X4 M is a must-staggered fitment from the factory and Element measures it as a single platform with one fitment window covering both the standard car and the Competition variant.

BMW X4 M, One Chassis to Cover

The X4 M is a single-generation platform. The F98 chassis launched for the 2020 model year and is still being produced in 2026. The Element catalog covers the F98 X4 M as one fitment window across both the standard X4 M and the X4 M Competition. The Competition picks up more power and stiffer chassis tuning but rides on the same wheel spec. Under the body, the F98 X4 M is the same chassis as the F97 X3 M with a sloping coupe roofline; the wheel and tire fitment specs carry over between the two.

The BMW X4 M Bolt Pattern

The X4 M runs 5x112 with a 66.56mm hub bore. That bolt pattern is shared across the current BMW M lineup: X3 M (F97), X5 M (F95), X6 M (F96), X7, G80 M3, G82 M4, F90 M5, and X3 M40i and X4 M40i M-Performance trims. Wheels designed for any of those platforms share the 5x112 lug spacing and the 66.56mm hub bore with the X4 M, though the offset and width that works on an X5 M or M3 is not the same as what works on an X4 M. The XM is the one current BMW M chassis that stays on 5x120, so XM wheels do not bolt to the X4 M. The new G90 M5 moved to 5x132 and is also incompatible.

The 5x112 / 66.56mm pattern is also the same one used across the broader modern BMW range (3 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, Z4, X7), which means hub-centric rings sized for BMW will fit the X4 M correctly when an aftermarket wheel is bored larger than 66.56mm. Why the BMW X4 M Is a Must-Staggered Fitment

The X4 M ships with a wider rear wheel and tire than the front, and the M xDrive system is tuned around the staggered setup. The system is rear-biased by default and routes the bulk of the S58's torque to the rear axle, which is why BMW M specified the wider rear tire to put the power down. A square fitment is not something we recommend on the X4 M. The factory tuned the chassis around a staggered tire footprint, and our aftermarket window is also staggered front and rear. The coupe-roof body of the X4 M does not change the chassis math; the F98 carries the same wheel arches and clearance behavior as the F97 X3 M underneath.

Element's measured aftermarket window runs 20-22 inch diameter, with 9-10 inch widths up front and 10-11 inch widths at the rear. The 20-inch minimum is set by the M Compound front brake package (the optional M Carbon Ceramic upgrade carries the same clearance requirement); the caliper height does not fit under a 19-inch wheel.
