Cadillac ELR Aftermarket Wheel Fitment
The Cadillac ELR is the plug-in hybrid luxury coupe Cadillac sold for the 2014 and 2016 model years (Cadillac paused production through 2015 for a refresh). It rides on the GM Delta II Voltec platform shared with the Chevrolet Volt and uses Cadillac's re-engineered version of the suspension, brakes, and wheel hardware. Every ELR runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore, five lugs, M12x1.5 thread pitch, factory lug nuts. Factory wheel was a 20x8 forged aluminum design, all four corners. The ELR came from the factory with a front Brembo caliper package, which sets the brake clearance bar higher than a standard Cadillac coupe and is the detail to confirm when shopping aftermarket. Element Wheels catalogs the full ELR production run as one fitment row.
Find Your Cadillac ELR Configuration
The ELR ran two model years, 2014 and 2016, on the same platform with the same bolt pattern, hub bore, lug count, and thread pitch. Click through to see wheels and rims that fit your ELR.
The Cadillac ELR Bolt Pattern is 5x115
Every 2014-2016 Cadillac ELR runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. Five lugs, M12x1.5 thread pitch, factory lug nuts. This is worth calling out because the Chevrolet Volt the ELR shares its Voltec platform with is 5x105, not 5x115. When Cadillac re-engineered the body and suspension for the ELR, it re-specced the wheel hardware to the 5x115 / 70.3mm hub spec used across the rest of the modern Cadillac sedan and coupe lineup. The ELR is on the Cadillac fitment family, not the Volt fitment family.
The ELR is 5x115 specifically. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers to 5x114.3 alone (114.3mm converts to 4.5 inches), not 5x115. The two patterns look similar on paper and a 5x114.3 wheel will technically thread onto 5x115 studs if the lugs are forced, but the stud spacing is off by 0.7mm at each lug position. That puts cumulative stress on the studs and is not safe. Confirm 5x115 before you order. A Chevrolet Volt wheel (5x105) is also not interchangeable with the ELR.
The 70.3mm hub bore is the GM hub spec carried across the modern Cadillac lineup (DeVille, Seville, DTS, El Dorado, STS, ELR). If your aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 70.3mm (common on universal-fit wheels and on wheels originally specced for a different platform), it needs a hub centric ring to land hub-centric on the ELR hub.
Compare across the rest of the Cadillac lineup at our Cadillac wheels and rims hub. The ELR shares lug-and-hub fitment hardware (5x115 / 70.3mm) with several other modern Cadillac sedans and coupes, but the front Brembo brake package on the ELR sets a higher clearance bar than most of those siblings.
The ELR Wheel Window and the Front Brembo
The Element measured diameter window on the ELR runs 20 to 22 inch. The factory wheel was a 20 inch forged aluminum unit, all four corners. The 21 and 22 inch options in our measured window are the aftermarket upsize range. Width runs 8 to 9 inch on both axles. The catalog tags the ELR as non-staggered (FT=1), meaning a square setup all four corners is the correct approach.
The detail that most ELR shoppers should know: the ELR came from the factory with a front Brembo caliper package (catalog brake size 3 front, brake size 1 rear). The front Brembo is physically taller than a standard Cadillac caliper and demands a wheel barrel that clears the front brake hardware. Most modern forged or flow-formed 20 inch and larger wheels clear it fine, but a budget cast wheel with a tight inner barrel can interfere. We check this physically on every ELR fitment in our database, rather than reading the wheel manufacturer's spec sheet. The rear standard caliper is not a clearance issue.
Element Wheels Measured Aftermarket Fitment, Cadillac ELR
Publishable factory and wheel specs across the ELR line:
- ELR (2014 and 2016, GM Delta II Voltec, plug-in hybrid): 5x115 bolt pattern, 70.3mm hub bore. Element aftermarket diameter range: 20-22 inch. Aftermarket width range: 8-9 inch front, 8-9 inch rear. Non-staggered (square setup). Five-lug, M12x1.5 thread pitch. Factory front Brembo (catalog brake 3) / standard rear (catalog brake 1).
For your exact aftermarket offset, three options:
- 1. Use our Year/Make/Model search to see wheels that fit your specific ELR (each listing shows its own offset).
- 2. Browse the ELR wheel gallery for real-life builds with size, offset, and tire spec captions.
- 3. Call or chat with our team for a free fitment consultation.
Every wheel we recommend is backed by our Fitment Guarantee. If a wheel does not fit, we pick up the wheels and refund 100 percent. No risk to you.
How We Confirm Fitment on Cadillac ELR Wheels
Element Wheels measures fitment on the platforms we sell wheels for, including the ELR. For the ELR that means clearance from the wheel to the fender on both axles, gap between the back of the wheel and the front suspension components, front Brembo caliper height confirmation (this one matters more on the ELR than on most Cadillac coupes because the Brembo is taller than a standard caliper), hub bore confirmation to the 70.3mm spec, lug seat geometry across the M12x1.5 thread pitch, and turning clearance with the wheel and tire installed at full lock. At our fitment facility in Chandler, Arizona, the Element Wheels team measures directly on the physical platforms we support. We don't pull specs from manufacturer sheets the way most retailers do. That measurement work is what catches the front Brembo clearance call on the ELR and produces the published diameter and width windows above.
Cadillac ELR Wheels and Rims FAQ
What is the bolt pattern on a Cadillac ELR?
Every 2014-2016 Cadillac ELR runs 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. Five lugs, M12x1.5 thread pitch. The 5x4.5 imperial nickname refers to 5x114.3 alone, not 5x115. Confirm 5x115 before you order.
Will Chevrolet Volt wheels fit a Cadillac ELR?
No. The Chevrolet Volt is 5x105 with a 56.6mm hub bore. The Cadillac ELR is 5x115 with a 70.3mm hub bore. Even though both cars share the GM Delta II Voltec platform underneath, Cadillac re-specced the wheel hardware on the ELR to the Cadillac 5x115 / 70.3mm hub family. A Volt wheel will NOT bolt to an ELR. This is one of the more common mistakes on the platform because the cars look related under the skin. Confirm 5x115 / 70.3mm before you order.
Will wheels from other Cadillacs fit an ELR?
Same-pattern fact: at the lug and hub level, yes on the modern Cadillac sedans and coupes that share 5x115 / 70.3mm (modern DeVille, Seville, DTS, El Dorado, standalone STS). The cars share the bolt pattern and hub bore. Two things to confirm before crossing a wheel: offset window differs by chassis, and the ELR has a front Brembo caliper that demands a wheel barrel that clears it. A wheel that fits a base DTS may not clear the ELR front Brembo. Confirm the offset and the front brake clearance before crossing.
Does the ELR Brembo brake package limit aftermarket wheel choice?
It narrows the field, it does not close it. The front Brembo caliper on the ELR is taller than a standard caliper and requires a wheel barrel that clears the front brake hardware. Most modern forged or flow-formed 20 inch and larger wheels clear the ELR front Brembo without issue because they are designed for the wheel diameters Cadillac shipped on the platform. The wheels to watch are budget cast wheels with tight inner barrels in 20 inch. We check this physically on every ELR fitment in our database, so wheels we recommend for the ELR have been confirmed against the front Brembo.
Are Cadillac ELR wheels staggered?
No. The ELR is non-staggered (catalog FT=1) and runs a square setup all four corners. Factory was 20x8 all four corners. Our measured width window is the same front and rear: 8 to 9 inch. The Voltec hybrid drivetrain layout does not need a staggered fitment, and we don't recommend running one.
What is the largest wheel I can fit on a Cadillac ELR?
22 inch is the top of our measured window on the ELR. Factory was 20 inch, and 20 inch remains the most common choice because it preserves ride quality and tire selection. 21 and 22 inch are aftermarket upsizes that work on the platform when paired with the right offset and tire sidewall. We do not recommend going above 22 inch on the ELR. The hybrid drivetrain ride character does not respond well to overly large wheels and tire selection thins out sharply.
Do I need hub centric rings on a Cadillac ELR?
Hub centric rings only when the aftermarket wheel has a centerbore larger than 70.3mm. The hub bore is the same across every 2014-2016 ELR. If you are running BMW-bored wheels (72.56mm) or any wheel with a universal 73.1mm centerbore, you will need a step-down ring to land the wheel hub-centric on the ELR hub. If your fitment needs rings, they'll be included with the order.
How do I find the right wheels for my specific Cadillac ELR?
Use our Year/Make/Model search and pick 2014 or 2016 Cadillac ELR. Diameter window is 20 to 22 inch. Width window is 8 to 9 inch on both axles. Every ELR is 5x115 / 70.3mm with five lugs and M12x1.5 thread pitch. The wheels we recommend have been physically checked against the front Brembo clearance. Browse the wheel gallery for real-life ELR builds with size and offset captions. Every wheel is backed by the Fitment Guarantee.
