The Ferrari 458 Bolt Pattern and Lug Bolts

Every 2010-2015 Ferrari 458 uses a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 66.9mm hub bore. The 458 was the generation where Ferrari changed away from the older 5x108 pattern used on the 360 and the F430. Lug count is straightforward. If your 458 has five mounting points around the hub face, it is 5x114.3 / 66.9mm. Ferrari kept 5x114.3 as the bolt pattern on the 488 that followed.

The 458 mounts wheels with lug bolts rather than lug nuts on studs. A lug bolt is a single fastener that threads directly into the hub, so the wheel is held to the hub by the bolt itself rather than dropped onto pre-installed studs. The thread spec on the 458 is M14x1.5. When you order aftermarket wheels for a 458, you typically also order Ferrari-spec lug bolts in the correct length for the wheel's mounting face thickness. The wrong bolt length is the most common 458 installation mistake we see, so we ship the correct bolts with every Ferrari 458 wheel order.

Why Every Ferrari 458 Runs Staggered Fitment

The 458 is a mid-engine, rear-drive Ferrari with a 4.5-liter naturally aspirated V8 mounted behind the cabin. The rear tires put down the power and Ferrari specs a wider rear wheel and tire than the front on every 458 variant. From the factory the 458 ran a 20 inch wheel with an 8.5 inch wide front and a 20x10.5 rear, paired with 235/35R20 fronts and 295/35R20 rears. The aftermarket window on the 458 runs 20 to 22 inch in diameter with the same staggered ratio carried forward. We do not recommend square setups on a 458 because the chassis is engineered around the staggered geometry and the rear arches are physically wider than the fronts.

The 458 has a noticeably larger front brake package than rear. That is normal on a performance car of this caliber. The front axle does the majority of the braking work and Ferrari scales the front rotor and caliper accordingly. The front wheel needs significantly more inner-barrel clearance for the larger front caliper, which is one of the variables we measure on the 458 directly rather than estimating from factory spec sheets. This is also why a wheel built for the rear of a 458 will often not clear the front caliper even when the bolt pattern and offset numbers look workable on paper.
